Trip of a “Million Dreams” Well laughs anyway*Last Installment 4/2 pg 12,#171 w/Pics

Goofster,

Just wanted to let you know I'm really enjoying your report. I love all of the pictures too, you have a beautiful family!

I hope you're able to meet up with Ms. Anniston, or should I say Jennifer, later on in the week. It would be a shame if she got lost!:lmao:

Thank you, glad you are enjoying it. I am having fun writing it and reliving our experiences.

As for Jennifer, we did try to meet up later in the week, but my wife kept elbowing me in my rib cage and telling me to roll over and to stop snoring and to quit talking in my sleep so I was unable to escort her around the rest of the week.. But the other day at the office while I was supposed to be working…

Blue_river, Thanks for all the comments, they are really appreciated.

It appears that we can not go to WDW with out shopping, then we can’t go to the Doctor’s Office, Post Office or the Gas Station with out them finding some where to shop, we have some really nice travel mugs from a number of places

Now I know that you know that Susan was the glue that held that group together, with out her it would just be a bunch of people that didn’t know how to sing or play instruments

Rides with a lot of, heck almost any motion and I do not get along, I even stay away from Small World these days. Okay that doesn’t have anything to do with the motion of the little boats….

We really did go at a much slower pace then we usually do, that was our plan and we were able to stick to it. For the rest of the group that is their daily life so it wasn’t much of a change for them.

The “Book” is really cool and fun to look at later, I will try and get Nugget to loan it to us so I can get some pictures of it, of course we are still waiting for their disk so we can download their pictures to our on-line album. (HINT, HINT, NUGGET)

Some times it seems like my girls and their Aunt Nugget are more like sisters, they have a good time together, especially Swimlover and Nugget when those two get together they are just off the scale of sanity. If we could find a two for one sale on Cat scans we would get them done.

As for candles, I would tell you what I am getting her for Valentine’s Day tomorrow, but she might read this before then, the girl does like her candles

Thank again for reading and commenting

Hope you are felling better and up and around it is no fun being sick

I am sure that you are being waited on hand and foot…Right

I thought that I would post pictures of the “Towel Sculptures” we got during our stay.

It was kind of funny out of three rooms our group had we are the only one that got a sculpture almost every day. I think the only days we didn’t get any were the two days our regular Mousekeeper was off and one day we didn’t get service until after the day crew was off.

:rotfl2: My DH has gotten so used to it living with 3 women - he usually just wanders off by himself and does his own thing - works for all of us :)

Really, it's my pleasure, it's a fun trippie and has given me many laughs.

"I'm feeling much better now" (hmmm...reminds me of a character from a tv show....a crazy man...wish I could remember what show LOL)

Yes, hubby has been waiting on me hand and foot, he's such a darling

Another great installment. The pictures of EPCOT in the morning are stunning. We also fall into the same trend of "we'll get it later if we REALLY want it" but always forgot. I finally started taking pictures of the souveniers I want on my digital camera so I won't forget! :rotfl2: I love the part about Chip N Dale at Le Cellier! So cute, although I prefer the pretzel bread.

We did better this year, I think everyone got everything that they wanted before we left.

I think the "Book" has made it to my MIL's house, so hopefully we will get it this weekend and get some pages posted.

The Wife was surprised, she hadn't read the thread yet.

Glad you are up and around and feeling better.

Tuesday, January 9th
The Plan:
Epcot in the morning
TinkerBoo/Indy 1 Segway tour
ADR-12:10-Lunch-Le Cellier
MGM in the evening

Actual
Weather Low 60’s/Chilly/Windy (Finally my kind of weather)
It was an early star for some of us today, Indy1, TinkerBoo, Sorceress and I headed off to Epcot around 7:45 a.m., Indy1 and TinkerBoo had reservations to do the Segway Tour this morning at 9:00 a.m. they took the tour last trip and really enjoyed it and were looking forward to doing it again this morning. Sorceress and I wanted to spend time walking around the park.

Once we got in the gates Indy1 and TinkerBoo headed to check in for the Segway Tour and we headed off to get Fastpasses for Test Track for later. After we got the Fastpasses we headed into Mouse Gear again, you know they might have gotten something new since the last time we were in there, what two days ago. Luckily they hadn’t added anything new so I got out of there with out spending any money. Now in all fairness Sorceress is a shopper, but not much of a spender, she really has to like something before she buys it. Now my girls got the shopping gene from their Nana my Mom, I swear that women we make us stop on the way to the cemetery when her time comes.

Sorceress and I wanted to get some breakfast, so we headed over to The Land to go to the Sunshine Seasons. The food offered was pretty much your basic eggs, bacon and potatoes, not the best I have had from a fast food establishment, but I didn’t leave anything behind either. After breakfast we went over and got on the Living with the Land boat ride, one of Sorceress’s favorite attractions, not sure why she has a hard time keeping plastic plants alive (Sorry Honey), there was a pretty big change this time, there is no Cast Member conducting the tour. Now I thought this was good and bad, good because we have had some Cast Member’s that would never stop talking and talked about everything but the exhibits, bad because we had some Cast Member’s that said their spiel and then encouraged the guest to ask questions and it would be a very informative ride. I guess it all comes down to cost savings for Disney, one less person to pay.

Here are a few shots we took

We finished our trip through horticulture bliss and decided to head for World Showcase to see if we could spot Indy1 and TinkerBoo on their Segways, so we headed in the clockwise (Mexico) direction and got as far as China before we came upon a rope blocking us off from going any farther since World Showcase wasn’t open yet. We could see some guests over in Italy that appeared to be on Segways but they were too far away to recognize anyone. We thought about waiting to see if they would come this way, but with it being so cold and windy Sorceress was ready for some shelter so we started heading back.

We had just gotten back to Mexico when we look up and here comes a Segway group and there was Indy1 and TinkerBoo, they were just heading off to the back of the Showcase to start that part of their tour. We got a few pictures

Indy1 in the lead
Shivahn150.jpg

TinkerBoo trying to catch up and not crash
Shivahn151.jpg

And we also noticed that they were both freezing since they only had on T-shirts, something about wanting to buy sweatshirts, but the Segway Nazi was rushing them. “NO Sweatshirts for You! We MUST Segway NOW”. So off they went to have fun and hopefully not get injured. We continued walking in the counter clockwise direction around World Showcase with a stop in the “Everything” under $10 store located at the entrance of Showcase from Future World, we then headed over and found a bench out of the wind near the path to the Rose Garden Walkway.

Shivahn155.jpg

Shivahn154.jpg

As we were sitting there I noticed what I thought would make a good picture of the Monorail with Spaceship Earth in the back ground, of course I had just missed the Monorail going by so I was waiting for it to come around again, and waiting and waiting, when Sorceress got my attention and told me that Indy1 and TinkerBoo were heading our way.

Great, now my stress level was rising, picture of the Monorail or pictures of the kids on the Segways. Well due to my superior photographic skill and ability (ok luck) I was able to get both; sort of Indy1 and TinkerBoo were so far apart from each other they barely fit in the same picture.

Show-Off
Ryan07pics178.jpg

We followed them over to Future World where they returned their Segways, after we met up with them and hit some of the shops, because it had been so long since we have been able to that on this trip. I figured the first purchase would be jackets for Indy1 and TinkerBoo, but turns out that they had called the rest of the group at the Lodge and made arrangements for them to bring them some when they came in to meet us for lunch at Le Cellier.

We soon were joined by Swimlover and Eeyore with the much needed and welcomed jackets, we then got a call from Nugget letting us know that Boot Strap was not feeling very good in fact he had a protein spill on the bus ride over so they were turning around and heading back to the Lodge. So if you were on the Epcot bus this day and had an uncomfortable trip, we apologize, it really stinks to be on vacation and get sick. I also need to give Nugget and Flash Kudos here for taking the responsibility to do their best to clean up the situation instead of walking away and leaving it for a Cast Member, Nugget said that a number of other Mother’s on the bus assisted them with this task. So to those Mother’s I also say Thank you for caring and understanding. And to the one guy that gave them a dirty look, like poor Boot Strap had a choice in the matter, sorry he missed you.

So with the sad news of Boot Straps illness delivered to the group the 6 of us that were left headed off to Canada for our lunch ADR’s at 12:10 p.m. This would be our second day in a row to dine at Le Cellier; it is one of our favorite places to eat while in Walt Disney World. We felt bad for Nugget (well not to bad, this means more breadsticks for me), Flash and Boot Strap because they also enjoy it, however Nugget and Flash are having date night here later in the trip, so they will get to enjoy it after all.

We were seated at the tables’ right outside the kitchen, I was a little worried but turned out not be too bad of a location at all. Now I don’t know what Providence was represented at this location, but not because I wasn’t listening this time, I don’t think it was ever said.

Our server was Sean, he told us that we were the only table he had today so the service should be great, if not we could tell his manager Barbara all about it. We talked for a while and told him that we had just had lunch here yesterday; he asked who our server was and just as we were about to tell him Katlin was walking by and we pointed at her and said “Her”. At think at first she thought that she was in some kind of trouble. When she saw it was us she said that there had not better be any fighting over breadsticks today or we would have to answer to her.

Sean took our orders which consisted of I think Cheddar Cheese soup for all, entrees included a Beef Tenderloin Salad, Grilled Petit Filets and plenty of bread sticks. Once again we passed on desert, not because we were full, but we were going to go to France for Crepes. We paid our bill that had the Cast Member discount on it and said our good-byes and headed out.

On the way out I asked to speak with Barbara and let her know that we had two very good lunches with excellent servers the last two days and looked forward to our next visit.

As I said we were on the hunt for Crepes in France and we found them we shared a Strawberry one and Chocolate one. The kids went to see the Impressions de France movie. Sorceress and I just sat and enjoyed the weather that had warmed up a bit, well maybe not warmed up much, but the wind had stopped blowing.

After the kids got back from the movie, Sorceress and I headed to the Friendship for a ride across the Lagoon so we could head back to the Lodge, we had dinner plans with our friends Karen and Rod who live here in Orlando, so we needed to get back and get ready; they were going to pick us up at the Lodge at 4:30p.m. The kids were going to stay in Epcot for a while longer.

We got back to lodge and got ready for our evening out; okay getting ready for me was putting on a pair of Levis instead of my normal attire of shorts. As for Sorceress there wasn’t much for her to do, she is always stunning. (Future screw-up points here Honey)

Our friends Rod and Karen took us to a local steak house called Steak and Ale. We had Meatloaf, Prime Rib and Steak which all came with choice of potato along with an all you could eat salad bar which was very well stocked. It all was very good and we really enjoyed our time together catching up on what was going on in our lives these days. We passed on desert so we could go to some local place Rod wanted to take us too for Ice Cream, now it was a pretty cold day and since it was now around 6:30 p.m. the temperature had dropped some, to be exact according to the thermometer in my friends truck it was 53 degrees out, I don’t think that figured in the wind chill factor since the wind had picked up again.. So we are off in search of a place called “Twister Treat”, imagine our surprise when we arrived to find out that there was no inside seating just tables on the outside of the building.

Shivahn160.jpg

And what a surprise to find a line consisting of absolutely NO ONE, wow what luck. So off we go in sub-zero temperature to get Ice Cream. Now it took us a few minutes to decide what we wanted, probably because our brains were in a state of Cryogenic Suspension. Once we got our Ice Cream we high tailed it back to the comfort and heat of the truck and headed back to the Lodge with melting Ice Cream running down our hands.

When we got back to the Lodge our friends came in and we sat in the lobby for a while and we called our girls to came down to spend some time visiting with Karen and Rod, we talked for about an hour or so and then our friends were on their way home and we were on our way up to our rooms for bed.
Talking with the kids about what they had done after we left them earlier ion the day, I guess they pretended to be French people,
Jesspics077.jpg

Indy1 does a very good French accent, they went over to the universe of Energy and rode Ellen's Energy Adventure, well sort of, they admit to falling asleep during the ride. They took a spin on Test Track since it had been closed earlier, then headed back to the Lodge.

Tomorrow is a down day; the Kids are headed to Islands of Adventures for the day, Mickey will be so hurt

Nugget, Flash and Boot Strap will be hanging out at the Lodge; Boot Strap was feeling better, but no sense in pushing it.

I have plans to go to lunch with Rod and another buddy of ours Charles that lives near by, Sorceress is going to go to breakfast at Boatwright’s with Karen.

Great trip report! I am enjoying your creative writing style and fun pictures! It looked like you all had a great time.

Does the monorail look good in person with the new decorations on it?

I think it looked pretty good, it may be since we are from Southern California and we have a bit of a Tagging (Graffiti) problem out here, but when I would catch a glimpse of it out of the corner of my eye it looked like someone had tagged it.

Thanks for following along

Why did I have to read this part before breakfast

Poor little Bootstrap and poor Nugget. I've never been a good mother in those situations - my stomach just can't handle it. I wouldn't have been one of those nice mothers on the bus either (not because I'm not nice though). Good for them :thumbsup2

Keep them coming :)

As for the weather I find that I like it to be colder than warmer. If it is cold you can always add more layers of clothing to get warmer, when it is hotter you can only; well I can only take off so much clothing before causing mass nausea to the general public.
So believe me colder is better

Woa. I don't think we ever headed out before 8:30. We were up early but never ready before 8.

I have always been an early riser; I am usually up by 5 a.m. every morning this can cause some issues when you have a household of females that think anytime before noon is still nighttime.

Poor poor Nana :sad2: Picking on your mother - shame on you!

If you only knew

Also - are you just kidding about the "everything under $10" store? I don't remember that.

I guess it isn’t everything “under $10, but most of the shop was. It is in one of the two shops that are located next to the Lagoon as you enter World Showcase from Future World. I think it is the one to the right

Why did I have to read this part before breakfast?

Sorry, I should have put a disclaimer on that part:rotfl2:

Thanks for reading and commenting It is really appreciated

Wednesday, January 10th
The Plan:
Down day
TinkerBoo/Indy 1/Chris-Islands of Adventure
Rest of the group?

Actual
Weather 65/Pleaseant
Indy1, TinkerBoo, Swimlover and Eeyore got picked up at 7:30 a.m. by Tiffany Towncar for a trip over to Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios for the day

Nugget, Flash and Boot Strap were going to take it easy this morning since Boot Strap still wasn’t 100%

Karen was picking Sorceress up at 10:00 a.m. for breakfast at Boatwright’s at the Port Orleans resort.

Rod was coming by to get me at 11:30 a.m. for a trip to the restaurant that has a big eyed owl as a mascot and specialize in wings; Charles would be meeting us there. They picked the restaurant, it is not one that I would have chosen, and so since I was a guest in their town I didn’t feel that I could be rude and decline to go to this particular establishment. I would just have to suck it up and tough it out and make the best out of it.

So I had some time this morning before I had to get ready to meet Rod out front of the lobby for lunch, so what to do, hit one of the parks, go to Downtown Disney, do some resort hopping, rent a boat and cruise the Lagoon, check in on Ms Aniston to make sure she was okay?

What Honey I should spend my morning doing some laundry

OH could I? Please!!!

What a great idea Honey, I’ll do some laundry, yeah that’s it, what a better way to spend a free morning then doing laundry, so it was off to the Lodge’s very small laundry room.

Which was made even smaller by the women that had her laundry spread out over the whole room, she had clothes on the folding table, clothes hanging on hangers on the hook, bags of folded clothes on top of washers not being used, unfolded clothes in the rolling basket, and she was using 5 of the 8 dyers. This was going to be fun.

She then left the room with all her stuff every where, now I thought maybe she is going to get something she forgot, maybe to refill her drink, but that was not the case when I had put our laundry in the washer and was headed out to the pool area to relax I spotted her in Roaring Fork sitting down eating breakfast. Now I am not up on the most current Laundry room etiquette, but I thought this was a little over the top.

With the laundry done (Yes, Honey I do believe that you are mistaken and that those items were pink when I put them in the washer. That’s my story and I am sticking to it.) and with Sorceress on her way to breakfast I headed to the lobby to sit and relax before going outside to meet up with Rod. He arrived right on time and we were on our way to meet up with Charles for lunch.

Now the food was very good if not "Delightfully Tacky”, however the atmosphere was lacking a bit, now I can’t put my finger on what it was for sure but I did notice that the restaurant must have not gotten a full range of sizes of the servers uniforms it appeared that all the servers were stuck wearing uniforms shirts that were one if not two sizes to small and I won’t even discuss the bottoms of the uniforms.

I ordered the Fish and Chips, Rod got the Groupers Cousin Sandwich and Charles had the Philly Cheese Steak. Now the food must have taken a while to get to our table, I can’t be sure since we were catching up on old times, but that is all I can figure out since we didn’t leave for almost two hours, what else could it have been other then the service was slow. I’m not sure if I will go back to this establishment again or not. I do have some pictures of the establishment, however I will not be posting them here since this is a family board.

Well after lunch I made it back to the Lodge safe and in tack and meet up with Sorceress, she had a really good time with Karen and even got to go back stage with Karen who had some errands to run. She took these pictures while she was back there, acceptable for all ages

They had removed the Christmas trees from the parks last night
Shivahn161.jpg

Shivahn163.jpg

Shivahn165.jpg

We headed to Downtown Disney to walk around and what else shop. We were joined by Nugget, Flash and Boot Strap who was feeling much better, we started on the marketplace end and actually that is as far as we got today. I don’t think we missed going into a single shop there. We eventually went into Once Upon a Toy to browse and it was no surprise to me that Boot Strap left with one of the build you own light sabers, well Flash said it was for Boot Strap, but we all knew better.

While Flash, I mean Boot Strap was building his light saber I took a look around the pin station for a while then took a seat and watched all the people coming and going. When they came out of Once Upon a Toy being lead by Anakin Skywalker or I mean Boot Strap and his new light saber, they informed me that they were starving and were headed over to Earl’s of Sandwich for nourishment. I wasn’t hungry yet from my excellent but slow lunch, but figured I could get a sandwich for later; I did have some potato salad while they ate their sandwiches. I think this establishment would be a very good addition to Downtown Disney in Anaheim.

After the lunch we were back to the task at hand, shopping and what trip to Downtown Disney would be complete without going in Ghirardelli’s Chocolate shop for a sample of chocolate? While Nugget and Flash were considering a sundae we took Boot Strap over to the shop side and he was offered a piece of chocolate, he politely declined saying that he was not allowed to eat it, maybe Nugget is a “Bad Mother”.

We then proceeded to get swallowed up by the World of Disney store, we do have one of these stores in Anaheim, but I think you could fit two of ours in the one here in Walt Disney World.

Here is Boot Strap; he still looks a little green to me
Shivahn167.jpg

These are some shots looking across at Saratoga Springs from Downtown Disney
Shivahn168.jpg

Shivahn169.jpg

After all of the shopping we were exhausted so we decided to head back to the Lodge, but first we had to make a stop at the Earl of Sandwich for some to go sandwiches to take back for dinner tonight, we had also received an order from the kids over at Universal for their favorites, so with bags of sandwiches and merchandise in hand we headed for the buses,

We get back and wait for the kids to return and we meet up on the third floor of the Lodge in a little sitting area with a table and chairs and enjoyed our sandwiches and hearing all about the kid’s day.

Here are some of their pictures

Swimlover and Eeyore were referring to Indy1 and TinkerBoo as the “Theme Park Nazis” they had spent 9 hours at the parks today and according to Swimlover and Eeyore the only time they were allowed to sit down was when they went to the bathroom. They all had a really good time, the crowds were not bad and they got on all of the big rides at least 2-3 times.

And some more pictures
Jesspics122.jpg

Jesspics130.jpg

We all headed to our rooms for some much needed rest; things had been going pretty good on this trip, we had been here a week and except for Boot Strap’s short illness everyone was in good health and I was on the verge of forgiving Humphrey for abandoning us earlier in the week, when it happened.

I had taken my shoes off and put them out of the way against the wall, took my socks off and in cased them in a zip lock bag (just kidding, I put them straight in the trash), I walked over to the bed and picked up my hat to hang it on the hat rack mounted on the wall, because I always pick up after myself at home why wouldn’t I do it while on vacation.

Well I guess my shoes weren’t as out of the way as I thought. My right foot came down and I smashed my toes against my shoes which were right up against the wall as I approached the hat rack, the pain was incredible, it rated right up there with the pain I had with a kidney stone I had years backs or certain holiday meals with family.

(blue_river beware possible grossness ahead)

I hobbled to the bed and sat down to survey the damage, all of my toes were a bright red and then I noticed that my little toe was hanging at about a 45 degree angle to my foot, if it wasn’t broken it was severely damaged. What to do, we discussed going to urgent care, but I have had broken toes before and they x-ray them, tell you your toe is broken and tape it up and say that will be $430.00 please.

So Sorceress went down to the Mercantile and got some adhesive tape and I taped my toe up as best as I could remember how the doctor had done it in the past and took a couple of Aleve

We would see how it did over night and reevaluate it in the morning. I should have gotten some ice and iced it down, but didn’t think about it, probably because I couldn’t hear myself think over my anguishing cries for my Mommy.

With my toes throbbing and visions of my trip being over dancing through my head I got in bed and tried to go to sleep.
