Trip Number 9 ~ It's the Most Wonderful Time of Year ~ Christmastime at the GF & Poly

After we were done at the CR we jumped on the monorail & headed back to the Poly and before we knew it we were in our swimsuits and this was our view.

The sun felt so good! Especially considering that we would be back in PA the next day.

This guy walked by a few times. I had to get a picture of his hair!!

Speaking of hair – this is the hair wrapping stand at the Poly.

The kids sure enjoyed the pool that day! We all did!! Although when we had gotten back to the Poly DS14 finally got it out of us what his surprise was. He quickly googled it on his Ipod and brought up the times and everything! So he kept coming out of the pool every 10 minutes to make sure it wasn't time for them for go yet!

Eventually it was time for them to go get ready, so they headed up to the room and got showered and dressed. They came back down to say goodbye before they headed to the monorail.

And they were off!

DS11 and I weren't ready to say goodbye to the pool quite yet, so we hung out a bit longer. He even participated in some hoola-hooping!

I too thought Parasailing, we had taken our older son to do it about 3 trips back...he loooooved it!!..I am totally stumped...what the heck is it, if Belle is doing it in gym at school!!???

Well, at least I have time a another guess. Paintball? Bungee? OK, I know that's 2, but I couldn't decide on 1. If it's either one of those, then gym class has come a long way since my day!

Loved the update! I want to stay at the Poly so bad now! The pool and beach look even more fabulous in the sunshine! I've never seen the Poly during the day! Was the pool ever too crowded when you were there?

I love the pic of your DS hoola hooping and drinking a Dew at the same time! He's got skills Shelly!

Can't wait to hear about the Disney adventure. I'm guessing the Sammy Duvall parasailing at the CR. I love Disney 'extracurricular' activities! I'm thinking that must be it because your younger son would probably be too young to participate??? And I know they do the parachute thing in gym so.... You need to take a day off from work and come on and tell us!

We do something extra like that on every trip. Last time we took the carriage ride around POR and LOVED it!!! I'm not sure what we will do this year. We might rent the water mice??? Have you ever done that? I'm wondering if it's worth it or do the boats just putter along like the cars at the Speedway!

I cannot imagine having hair that long, even for a girl! It has to be hot and (I am just guessing here) smelly. Surely you can't wash that type of hair every day.

It was the most perfect day weather-wise! Loved it!

Okay, it's here - the big mystery activity will be revealed today!!!


After DS11 and I were done at the pool we headed up to the room to get cleaned up. DS14 had been calling and saying they were stuck on the monorail for awhile and then when they got to the boat dock at the CR a boat didn't come forever, and that they were going to be late for their activity. Which was absurd, they left 1 ½ hours before it started.

So where exactly had DH & DS14 been off to??? The Archery Experience at Fort Wilderness Campground!! DS has really been into archery for the past year. He saved up his own money and bought himself a bow last spring. I wasn't thrilled about it, but the has been very responsible with it. So when I came across the archery experience at FW I knew we had to book it for him!

From AllEars ~ “Archery Experience: Whether novice or expert marksman, an archery guide at the Bike Barn offers training and tips on how to hit the bulls-eye with a Compound Bow. Open to resort guests and non-guests alike, ages 6 and up, the 90-minute experience costs $25 (plus tax) per person, includes equipment and instruction and can be booked up to 90 days in advance by calling 407/939-7529. Credit card information is due at the time of booking. Walk ups are accepted. Offered Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoons from 2:45 - 4:15pm; the class has a maximum number of 10 people.”


Once he found out what he was going to be doing he was very excited!! He looked it up on his Ipod and read all about it. He could not wait to get there! So they left with plenty of time to spare (or so we thought), but ended up being a bit late.

The monorail got stopped for some reason. Then when they finally got to the CR boat dock the boat had just left, so they had to wait way longer than expected for the next boat to get to FW. Once they got to the FW boat dock they had to walk to the nearest bus stop and take an internal bus to the Bike Shed, which is where you check in for the Archery Experience. I think they ended up being about 10-15 minutes late and they were the first ones of the guests to get there! Shortly after they got there the rest of the people started rolling in. Mostly complaining about WDW transportation holding them up. There were a few other families with kids and then a young couple as well. They said it was a nice mix of people and that the CM's were super! They had a great time.
