Trying to decide if we should insure our trip against cancellation/interruption. We're renting a townhouse with a pretty liberal cancellation policy up to 30 days before; after that, I wouldn't expect to receive a refund from the owner/manager if something came up. Our YES tickets are also non-refundable. We'll be taking the Auto Train (which has an excellent cancellation policy) and driving, so flights are not a factor.

Basically I would like coverage for a medical or family emergency that would keep us from being able to take our trip or cause us to have to come home early, or a weather event like a hurricane (going in Sept/Oct makes me nervous). Is insurance even necessary? We have great health insurance so I don't need medical coverage while on our trip, we don't have any pre-existing medical conditions, and since we're not flying, I'd be the only one who could lose our luggage. But if something came up, I would hate to be out the $2K I've invested in non-refundable expenses. If you think I need it, can anyone recommend a good basic policy, reasonably priced, with coverage for those things? I've been on SquareMouth.com but it all blurs together and I can't tell what's good and what's not. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hey I just checked out Squaremouth and you get a $2,000 cancellation policy for about $66, based on 2 adults and 2 children a week.
