Trip Insurance

I did a search on this subject but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I used my points for a FW stay, in our Motorhome, which makes them reservation points. So if I can't make the trip they must be used at other then DVC Resorts, which, other then FW or DCL, I don't do. So, if for some reason I cancel within the 30 day window or while already there, I would need to make a claim. I have read that Disney Insurance doesn't cover preexisting medical conditions or unemployment. If that is so, what other company will insure DVC points? I don't need medical insurance or fight insurance.

I have never heard of a company that insures cancellations...but I have used trip insurance, and I don't think it's a particularly good value. They make it so hard to make a claim, and they are funny about the things they insure, and did the company reimburse any part of it, and is it weather-related, etc. A couple of years ago, when the whole Eastern seaboard lost power, we were part of that. They covered our hotel room, but not meals, they covered our airline tickets, but not the ticketing fee, and they wouldn't cover the cost of the room(but Disney refunded everything, thank Goodness!)

No insurance will give you your actual points back, they will give you a prespecified monetary amount based upon factors and conditions detailed in the insurance contract. I agree with Cruelladeville, I don't think trip insurance is a good value unless there is an actual emergency not based on a pre-existing condition.

I don't think the 30 day cancellation applies to the Disney Collection. (FW is part of the Disney Collection, not DVC) If you have made ressies in the Disney Collection, and cancel them at any time, even before thirty days, you are still in the same boat. Except if you cancel them three days or less prior...Then I think you just completely loose your points.
