trip insurance thro DVC?

Hi,
I will be renting points for an upcoming trip in September and the lady who I will be renting from cannot give me a cancellation policy because her points were banked from last year and they expire a the end of September, so if we cancel she will lose her points because she doesnt feel she would be able to re-rent them--my question is: is there trip insurance that I can buy through disney vacation club member services, as a renter, and if so how much is it? thanks so much!

The trip insurance that is available will not protect the owner (it does NOT actually restore our points in case of an emergency). In fact, I doubt many members use it as it does NOT re-imburse much of anything. I also think (but I'm not sure) that it is available to Members only. Ask the member you're renting from to send you the flier that comes with the ressie confirmation, you can call the number and find out for sure. I don't think the insurance is offered through member services at all, but is a private transaction between the traveler and the insurance company.
