Who else books based on most economical? Just curious :)

Planning our June two week trip and nixing Poly bc points too high.

Doing bwv std studios on the weekdays and bcv studios on weekends with a 2 day weekend in a 1bd bwv std. I calculated that this was the best “arrangement” based on the point chart. Am I the only one who does this? This is my first time- previously I booked however I liked ;)

How long is your total trip? No way I'm moving twice during a 1 week stay. Over 2 weeks? Maybe but I wouldn't be thrilled about it

We don't like split stays, either. We have a 3-night minimum in any one place and will generally do a split only if we want to try a new resort, or if we're short of points (e.g. "recovering" from a large family trip requiring extra points). For a 2-week trip like yours, we might consider two 7-night stays. OTOH, BWV is our home resort, so if we really wanted to book "based on most economical" we could book standard view for the entire stay! (It would have to be a 1BR, though; we can hardly make it 3 nights in a studio anymore.)

🙋‍♀️

We often do split stays with a minimum of 3 nights in a place, but only move once ... I do this all the time, especially when splitting between VGF and RIV because they are both pretty points hungry.

(Often we do the last week of August + Labor Day weekend, and it always seems to work out that VGF in August and Riv over the holiday weekend is a little less than the other way around. The problem then becomes Epcot is a hot mess over Labor Day weekend itself.)

I have definitely economized when feasible (tower studio @RIV, studios with 4-5 people, 2-bed for my 8-person fam, travel during lower point seasons, etc)… but I an not willing to jeopardize the magic of a trip either. It’s an expensive trip & I want to enjoy it. So, if I’m taking 2 kids they each get to pick their fav resort (no matter which one) & we split our stay. Our family is also getting ready to enjoy our first trip in a GV & the whole family is so excited it makes the splurge absolutely worth every point!! Now that we’ve got plenty of points, I can enjoy the luxury of staying where I want- but I was raised to track every penny & I’ll never stop looking for the best deal. 😉

I’ll keep booking those tower studios, but one benefit of owing DVC points is that I can choose to economize or splurge w/o changing the actual $ spent… but, of course, that is why Disney sells DVC. Dues are due, and at some point it can feel more like playing with Monopoly money than cold hard cash.
