Trip cancelling & gift cards

We may be canceling our trip to WDW next week if the government doesn't resolve their issues. If my husband is deemed essential and they don't settle by Tuesday, then the trip is off. I paid for part of the trip with a gift card. What happens if I can't find the gift card? Has anyone had this happen? Thanks!

What happens if I can't find the gift card?

Do you think you threw them out or just misplaced them? If you threw them out then I have no idea. If you can't find them right now because you put them away for safe keeping then there is an easy resolve- the money will be refunded to them and by the time you reschedule your vacation you surely will have found them.

All refunds are made to the original method of payment, so the amount paid with the GC would be refunded to the GC.

Do you have the receipt for the GC? You can get a replacement GC for the lost one if you have the receipt from the store where it was purchased. I know it's a long shot. I know that I'm less likely to hang on to a receipt than I am to misplace a GC. Once the money goes back on the missing GC, you can have a new one issued with the funds on it.

I hope things work out and you don't need to cancel.

Worst case scenario, if you can't find the card, or a receipt etc., you could always book a future trip and have them move the amount you paid by gift card. To my knowledge, as long as you re-schedule within the 45 day window, they could keep moving that balance along indefinitely.

I had this happen recently and they will refund you to a new gift card, but it will be done by mail and they will make you sign for it. You may have to talk to a supervisor, but yes, it can be done.
