So it appears our trip got cancelled a day AFTER we were originally supposed to arrive. I guess you can read all about it here: http://www.disboards.com/threads/at-home-when-i-should-be-at-disney.3565991/

Anyway I'm wondering what to do with our Magic Bands since they will be dated by next year when the new 2.0 Magic Bands come out. We might look at rebooking the vacay for sometime in May and June. They might likely send us new bands if we do that, right? I don't wanna throw these away but I'm not really interested in keeping them either. I would prefer to recycle them cause I'm a freak like that. Any suggestions? Should I try mailing them back to wherever they came from?

You can use these magic bands with your next trip and decline the new bands. If you want the new style then you can throw these away. As I understand it, they can't be recycled.

We had to rebook our October trip due to the hurricane. I never got a refund, just rebooked using the funds disney already had. We moved our trip to November. We were not offered new magic bands. It just kept the October ones for our November trip.

So sorry your trip got cancelled. You can either keep them or ditch them. They can be deactivated online.

If you have kids, let them have and play with them as disney costume jewelry. Or toss them, or save them, or save them to give to disney when you do make it down so they can recycle them. Or just bring them down to have a backup and alternative color in case you need it or are into color coordinating your outfits..

Basically do what you want with them.

Just had this happen yesterday. I had ours painted and all ready to go. (In fact we were wearing them at the airport when they cancelled our flight~My favorite ones so far!) Will keep them for the next trip!

I threw mine out. We were supposed to be there beginning of November...had to cancel about 2 weeks out. Into the trash the entire thing went...

I've read here a year or more ago that Disney can recycle them. So I deactivated our many surplus MBs last year and handed the CM a bag full when we checked in. The CM looked thrilled - NOT! :rolleyes2

  • Why anyone would throw them away or send them back is crazy to me. You can do so many things with these bands. You can design them. Add a slap watch head on to it and now it a watch with unique band. Take the band and put them in a clear Christmas bulb s a reminder of your trip. Kids love to play with these.
I made a chain from mine to wrap around the tree last year. This year they are just all over the tree. We have engraved nicknames from the different times that we went and we try to guess which one is which.

I would hold onto them. There are posts where people are staying offsite on their next trip and need magic bands. They had thrown out their previous ones.
