Sometimes when I'm bored I like to read WDW reviews on TA and it never ceases to amaze me how many people think they have to purchase Fast Pass! I really wish TA had the option to reply to reviews!

I thought I was the only one who liked to read the TripAdvisor reviews! I've noticed there are two categories...the ones who had a blast and the ones who arrived at the parks late, without fastpasses, and waited in a lot of lines.

I like reading trip advisor reviews too. I especially like reading the negative reviews because I find the stupid stuff people complain about is funny.

I think my favorite recently was the person complaining about how hot and busy the Magic Kingdom was on July 4th weekend. I laughed at that one.

Oh dear, I think I have stumbled upon a new addiction! The bad reviews are so interesting! I can't believe people think they have to pay for FPs! And one was complaining that it was so busy and "not even peak season" — in late June. That may not be the busiest time all year, but it's sure close!

Thank you for giving me yet another place to waste time online while counting down to my Disney trips :thumbsup2

Thanks for the idea--the TA reviews are providing me with great entertainment, and I've only made my way through a few! I love the advice, "If you hate kids, DO NOT GO." :rotfl2:

Edited to add an even better piece of advice, "This is a good place to visit with kids. You can easily spend one day here." Silly me, I'm trying to figure out how to accomplish everything over NINE days :)

OMG I use TripAdvisor ALL the time and I was curious a few weeks back and looked up the Magic Kingdom. I was amazed at the amount of misinformation from a lot of the reviewers. What i think it all boils down to is preparedness. If you go in not knowing exactly what to expect, you probably have an idea in your head of what you want it to be like and when that doesn't match reality, you could end up very frustrated. LOL at the people complaining about the heat in FL in the summer, lines and how expensive everything is!!

I had a cousin who went to Magic Kingdom recently. I offered to help her plan about 2 months before her vacay when I found out. She said she'd let me know. I thought Oh dear lord, this can't turn out well. They were there for 5 days and went to the MK twice. I'm not totally sure if they knew there was more to it than just MK. They never got fastpasses. She said they had a wonderful time. I'm gonna call BS! The crowd levels were 9's during their visit. P.S. I have the exact opposite touring/planning style(for example, I've been looking up tide times for our beach day because I want my children to play in as much shallow water as possible, who does that LOL ME!! and I doubt I'm alone!!) than her and I know others do it like she did but I just don't see how you could have an "amazing" trip with small children, on such crowded days and not plan, but maybe I'm just a Disney planning snob!

Here's a recent quote from one of the reviews. "Oh and here is the kicker: The water pressure was very low when you wash your hands in all of the sinks in the bathrooms!" They complained about many different things in their review, but at the end, the kicker for them was the water pressure when you wash your hands LMAO :rotfl2:

And then someone posted on July 5th about how MK was at park capacity and they were asked a series of questions that they didn't like. You know the ones that determine if you are going to be let in.

"I rather they just be honest about that Disney prioritizes who they want to let in based on whether the guests are staying at a WDW resort. Just say that they are only let in people who are spending the most of money with Disney on thst day...andthe rest of you can go take a hike." Yes smarty pants, that's how it works. And they are honest you dip! But you would've known that had you been on the DIS with the rest of us and done your due diligence LOL

I sound like a know it all and I don't mean to and I don't know everything at all, I just get mad when people complain about things they could've/might've known if they would have done a little research.

I read TA too! I'm not alone! Love reading the bad reviews and seeing how ridiculous some people are- they'll complain about anything!

I like to read the reviews for places that I've already been. It's amazing how different opinions can be. Also interesting the ridiculous comments that you noted. I always look for the people at WDW who are looking at a Park map for the first time and talking about the rides like they never heard of them.

.......and these people are the reason we all run across people who say, "Oh I have a friend who went to WDW and she said it was awful and she'd never go again!" People who botched their trip always blame "the place" not themselves (their lack of planning, poor decison making, etc) and spread their negative experience that way.

I always feel so badly for the people who don't know enough to do at least minimal research. (What can I tell you, it's the teacher in me.)

So many people seem to think that you can go to your local travel agent, pay your money, show up at the gates of Disney World at noon, and have the same kind of vacation you see in the commercials...you know, with the smiling kids, the incredible character interaction, and no crowds in the backgrounds????

One time at MK rope drop, I was chatting with the woman next to me and her 11 year old son. She wanted to know when the shows were. "Shows??" I asked. "Here?? What kind of shows?" Her answer was more along the lines of the DHS Stunt show than anything at the MK.

Then I asked her son what kind of rides he liked. After hearing his answer, I explained about the free Fastpasses, and sent her to Space, Big Thunder and Splash, and explained about Pirates and Haunted Mansion.

She took a real chance that the person standing next to her would know what she was doing. I hope they had a good time.

You don't have to do Disney my way-- we do rope drop, then a big afternoon break in the summer heat. But by showing up and not knowing about the crowds and Fastpasses, you run the risk of spending a lot of your vacation standing in line. Opting not do something is one thing; being ignorant of its existance is another. So all those people who have heard about Mine Train but who don't know that you can book a Fastpass 60 days out may end up sorry.

I've never left a review on Trip Advisor, but use it for hotel reviews if we haven't been somewhere for a long time or never been in a certain city.
I think you can write your own review and comment on things like "I've never had to pay for......." and that kind of addresses something another reviewer brought up.
I believe the only one who can reply is the owner/manager/etc. as in a hotel manager replying to bad reviews or happy about good ones.
In spite of the $$$ spent to go to Disney, especially if you have a family of more than 2, people are either in one of two groups -- research for weeks and months or don't even bother.
Just listening to conversations when in line or taking a break is interesting.
:thumbsup2

Thanks I now have a new way to pass the time waiting for my trip. I love the one that says the bathroom at Chef Mickey's was flooded and instead of letting her son who had had an accident use the handicap stall they sent her to the Magic Kingdom. :confused3 I've never been to the Contemporary but I imagine there must be more than one bathroom and one closer than MK.

In these people's defense, I do think Disney markets it as a resort, almost an all-inclusive in a sense especially if they manage to sell you the dining plan. And once you learn about Magical Express. When people think "resort" they think easy. I guess that is one good thing about FPP, it helps those non-planners.

I think showing up in Manhattan without plans could end up being a better trip than showing up at Disney without one!

Yeah, that one was puzzling, there are a lot of bathrooms at the CR.

Love. Love. Love. Trip Advisor. I use it a lot. I have left reviews, especially if I have received exceptional service. I use it to gage wear customer service is headed. Now, I am off to read WDW reviews!:drive:

Apparently, someone forgot to do their homework.

Disney is just awful. The rides suck. The lines are huge. There are barely any rides even then. rides that are supposed to be main attractions end up being for children anyway. The aerosmith ride had nice scenery and good speed. But it was too short and barely any loops and turns. Why? Disney is made for little children. That's why. The tower of terror is next. Tower of "terror". It was written as so scarry and cool. Exact opposite. When I was about to get on the ride I thought it would drop all 12 stories and leave my stomach in my mouth. NOPE. It only bounced up and down a bit then ended. Why? Disney is for kids. That's why. There are also crying kids everywhere. Every where you turn There is a dribbling parasite in front of you that's covered in their own snot and bawling. If you hate kids DO NOT GO. Everything there is made to accommodate them. The only thing Disney has going for it is Epcot. Epcot has amazing restaurants and good atmosphere. BUT there are Still children EVERYWHERE. If you really want to go to Disney just get a 1 day pass and hit Epcot. Or you could be even smarter with your money and go to universal. THAT Is a theme park. Disney is a 35 mile daycare. :rotfl2:

Yeah, I loved that description of ToT "bouncing up and down a bit."

And I found another one that said, "If Walt was alive, he'd be spinning in his grave." :lmao:

The way I look at it, all these people who hate WDW and aren't coming back are people we won't have to deal with when we're there.
