I have never done this before, but I have found so many of the other trip reports helpful, I thought it was my turn.

Arrived 2/10 at 1:00, room was ready for both my family and my mother. We each had a studio - 1812 & 1813 (Miller Rd). They were great! Both very clean - absolutely no complaints. Except maybe for the fact that the view from 1812 was of the air conditioning units.

Check in went well, but CM's seemed very confused (many college interns). I had to call and visit many times to get park passes and groceries that had been left at the desk for me.

First visit to OKW and we fell in love with the laid back atmosphere. More like our home resort HH. Bus service was great!!

2/10 to 2/13 resort and parks were very quiet. After that , most parks were still managable with the exception of Magic Kingdom. It was very busy even with the cold and wet weather. We did get to see all parades and wishes and enjoyed them alot.

We did most breakfasts in the room, light lunches, but really splurged on dinners. We did 2 special dinners - Jiko's at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge (for our 22nd anniversary). Both meals were excellent and the service was great. We even took our 6 year old! Also enjoyed Ohana's (got a table so we could see Wishes), Whispering Canyon and Boma's.

Hope I didn't bore anyone! We were lucky to have such a great and relaxing trip.

:D

Sounds like a fantastic trip Kathy---thanks for the report. I'll have to try Artist Point for dinner one of these days.
BTW, happy anniversary

Great report! Yes, those first floor studios often have a dreaded "air conditioner view". I'm curious as to why you did 2 studios instead of a 2 bedroom. I know it is a few less points, but not nearly as convenient or with as many amenities.

We love Artist Point too, and try to go there at least once a trip. Tell us more about Jiko. We considered this one, but haven't done it yet.

Thanks for posting a trip report! Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip and a belated Happy Anniversary.

Thanks for posting Kathy.

I've never post a trip report either but I do agree about how helpful they can be. So I will follow your lead and post after my April return.

Glad you had a good time,
Lisa

Sounds like you and your family had a wonderful vacation. Thank you for posting!:)

Is this true for all the first floor studios at OKW? Would you recommend a studio not on ground level? We'll be staying, for the first time, at OKW in May. Thanks!

Not sure about "all", but a ot of them do. THe upper floors will have a better chance of having greenery. The studios have such small balconys and windows, that view isn't really so important here.

Kathy,

Thanks for taking the time to write about your stay, sounds like you had a great time!
Happy Anniversary

Glad you had a great trip. I never thought about it, but Old Key West IS like Hilton Head in terms of "feel" -- both are great for relaxing!

Thanks for the trip report.

it sounds like you have 2 studios - next to each other - I didn't know that was possible at OKW!!!

at BWV, VWL and BCV - yes - because of the dedicated.

glad you had a great trip - building 18 is one of my favorites!!!

Thank you everyone for the Anniversary wishes... it is one of the reasons I enjoy the DIS community so much.

To answer your question about the 2 studios - my mother and sister only stayed for part of our trip. We would have liked to have had a one bedroom with the lockoff, but were trying to get the most time out of our points (and still try to squeeze in a trip to HH).

I wish I could remember more about Jiko's, but I can tell you that I had the filet mingion (sp) over mac and cheese. It was awsome! My husband had a dish similar to pot roast and said it was very good. The atmosphere was very relaxing, and our waitress was full of info about the menu and didn't rush us.

Yes, we did have 2 studios next to each other. I thought the CM's did a great job filling my request for the rooms to be close to each other. We really didn't mind not having the extra room or ammenities as we spent little time there. We did get some groceries and made simple breakfasts and coffee and used one of the patio chairs at the table. I really, really enjoy eating out, especially on vacation, so I didn't miss having a full kitchen!

Again, thank you everyone for your good wishes.

Kathy
