In the spirit of this board, we tried some new...for us...restaurants this trip. We have so many favorites we don't usually branch out much but thought we'd try some new spots.

Olivia's... my son and I spent 2 nights at OKW so we tried lunch and breakfast here. At lunch my son had a burger and fries and I tried the Cuban sandwich. Liked the Cuban sandwich but next time would try to spice it up somehow. My son loved his burger.

For breakfast he had the silver dollar pancakes with a scrambled egg on the side. I had the continental breakfast which is a pretty good value but the fruit didn't seem fresh. Had good service both times.

We tried Boatwright's for breakfast due to Uncleromulus's reviews. I tried that Blueprint omelet which was great. I had bell peppers, broccoli, cheddar cheese and spinach. The potatoes that accompanied the omelet were very good too. My son had pancakes that looked very fluffy. Service was good.

Le Cellier for dinner. Avoided this place when it was a cafeteria and took us a long time to try it after it became sitdown. We really enjoyed it. The best part was our server, Lynsey from Vancouver. She was really busy but still very attentive. There were some pretty demanding tables around us including one with a 6 or 7 year old who spent a lot of time practicing her cheers in the middle of the floor. Anyway, she still found time to talk to us about wines in Canada and her hopes that Vancouver would get the Olympics. Congratulations to Lynsey and all of Vancouver on that which happened a couple of days after we dined there.

Anyway, our son had his usual cheeseburger I think?? My husband had the filet with mushroom rissotto which was great...we exchanged portions. I tried the other filet with cream cheese potatoes. The filet was cooked to order and flavorful but the potatoes were too salty for my taste.

Our other new spot was Crew' Cup at YC. THis was the find of our trip because we are members at BCV but have bemoaned the lack of a quick, easy meal. We do not like Beaches and Cream...the noise, limited menu, long waits, crowded conditions, short hours, etc! Anyway at Crew's Cup which is located adjacent to Yachtsman's Steakhouse, between noon and five they offer sandwiches, soups and salads. The menu really looked like the all day menu from room service. My son had a cheeseburger and I had a cold roast beef and cheddar cheese sandwich. The lounge is cool and charming...180 degrees from Beaches and Cream. After 5 pm the menu changes to appetizers only. We were also told they will do carryout orders. Our service was fine.

Enjoyed trying a few new restaurants!

Sounds like you had a good time ~ Thanks for sharing!!!

Whew!! Glad you liked Boatwrights breakfast--.
Never thought of the Crews Cup as a B&C alternative, but in thinking about it, every time we've been there for a pre-Yachtsman Steakhouse drink, there have been folks doing those appetizers. So it's nice to see they do an afternoon lunch type menu as well.

The only problem we find with the crew's cup is if its crowded, it is technically a "bar" and smoking is permitted unlike other WDW resturants. Unfortunately I have asthma so this is an issue, but if its a quiet day, it is a real "find"!

MKY ;)

Thanks for your report. I never thought of Crews Club for a quick bite. I agree with you on the Beaches and Cream. I do, however, miss the Yacht Club Galley for dinner.

Next time, if you can, try Olivia's for dinner. We were there for the first time in December and are looking forward to going back on our next trip. They have an excellent variety on their dinner menu. Our service was excellent there!

Uncleromulus, thanks for your reviews of Boatwright's. I know I really can count on your reviews and I think everyone else does too.

mkymouse4ever, when have you found Cup's Crew crowded for future reference? There was someone smoking but the smoke smell didn't reach us. We had a very early dinner before going to MGM for the evening and it wasn't crowded at all...around 4:50. Thanks.

Chipster, what do you recommend at Olivia's for dinner?

Thanks for the reviews. We are going to be eating at Boatwrights for breakfast on our upcoming trip after reading so many good things on these boards about it. So it was good to read another positive review.

Thanks for the reviews. I always want to try Le Cellier. I think I will put it on my list for next trip to be sure I don't forget! Glad to hear about the Crew's Cup I may try that next time I stay at BCV...the Beaches and Cream thing is getting old and the wait/space thing is out of control!

Thanks for sharing your reviews--great tip about the Crew's Cup. We mostly ended up eating at Beaches and Cream for quick meals when we were at the Beach Club. Never thought about the lounges...

We found Crew's Cup to be packed last August during a down pour of rain! People were packing in, and they had the manager waiting tables, also had some of the "hurricane hanna's" staff helping out too cause of the crowd! Standing room only. During this time, the main resturant (not Yachtsman steakhouse) had been closed for lunch, cutbacks.

But we have also been in there, in the afternoon for lunch when there booths are all filled and some of the other tables also.

But now that Florida has passed there new law on July 1st. Maybe smoke is a non issue? I guess this is now a non-smoking establishment?

MKY

Oh, that would be great. There were some articles about that law in the Sentinel while we were there but I didn't make the connection. However we had our meal there July 2 and I thought a guy walked in with a cigarette? Maybe he had to put it out and that is why it didn't bother me?
:p

We tried Le Cellier for dinner for the first time too and enjoyed it. I literally made DGD order the chocolate moose so I could see it.LOL I'll have to remember the Crew Club too! Thanks for posting!
