If you are really looking to save some cash and spend little time in your room it's a nice little room.
But I am not in love.
Upon arrival, our room was not clean. Sheets looked new. But bugs, hairs and dirty Kleenex were everywhere.
If you have the Murphy bed pulled down, you can hardly walk in the room. I had to walk sideways to get to bathroom. And I am not a large person.
I do like that they updated. But not my cup of tea.

Did you complain about your room not being cleaned? That's super gross I would have walked right back out. I've only stayed there once, it was a basic hotel I didn't like it, but I prefer the deluxe. I wouldn't stay there again.

I called from the room. The CM , literally, said "That's too bad."
I was like, uh...what? Ok.

I had Lysol wipes with me and cleaned up.

When you call from the room you reach a call center not the front desk. That is so unacceptable, no one should have to stay in a dirty room. If something like that happens to you again you need to go to the actual front desk to complain

They probably have specific rooms for that.
And, had we not needed the second bed pulled down it would have been easier to move around!!
Yes, specific rooms that have roll in showers etc... But I thought all newer constructed hotel/rooms have minimum width doorways, space between immovable furniture etc in ALL rooms. Maybe I am wrong. I have not stayed in a new room at POP so this does concern me because we too will need both beds.

Did you call housekeeping or the front desk? Calls to the "front desk" actually go to the call center. Calls to housekeeping will get you thru to someone at the resort.

If I had found bugs, hair and trash around the room upon entering, I would have been physically present at the front desk asking to be either reassigned or have housekeeping immediately clean the room to my satisfaction. There is no reason that anyone should have to clean their own room upon occupying it. It is especially shameful given the price that Disney charges.

I definitely would've went to the front desk and asked for a manager. It's not right it happened in the first place, but they would've made it right. As PP said calling the number from the room won't do much good.

Sorry you had a bad experience at Pop! :sad2:It's one of our favorite resorts but we've never had any issues like that. We really enjoy the new rooms and didn't feel any extra cramped with the bed down.

While I'm not a fan of the values in general, I like the refurb rooms at Pop. A dirty room is going to happen anywhere, it happens from the highest to lowest level. I've walked into rooms that weren't as clean as they should have been in levels like Four Seasons and Ritz and down to tiny little road side motels where the roaches had their own beds. I'm not saying its acceptable and you shouldn't put up with it but it's not the normal for Pop. The pull down bed is odd, the only time I stayed in a refurb room it was just me so it didn't matter but had my son been staying with me, I'm sure we would have had to put it up every day and I'm sure I would have been the one sleeping in it. I'm not sure what the thinking was on that, I suppose to give you more room when the bed is not pulled down. The values aren't my cup of tea because they tend to a little more busy and noisy than the moderates and deluxes and since my kid is grown I don't need the overgrown theming they have. We also like the quiet pools and hot tubs the moderate and deluxe resorts offer.

The room should be clean, but I agree with you about the refurbishment. POP used to be my favorite value resort, but I do not care for the new beds and the "wood" floors were awful. After walking around the room after a shower, my feet were dirty. Never did care for the All-Stars and AoA has limited regular rooms, so I guess it will be moderate from now on.

Wow. I would have gone straight back to the front desk and asked for another room! As for walking sideways to bathroom I don’t understand that. There was plenty of room to get around the regular (not Murphy) bed to get to the bathroom. Unless you were commenting on getting from door to bathroom walking around Murphy bed pulled down?
I didn’t use Murphy bed. Loved all the storage in new room in bathroom, and beverage center unit.
What I didn’t like about Pop was our room location and really bad bus service. Every morning it was a 30 min bus wait at minimum.

I've stayed at Pop twice in refurbished rooms with the murphy bed down the entire time. I'm pooh size and still never had to walk sideways to get around either bed. I did have an issue with housekeeping during my second day but that can happen at any hotel as well. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay. I on the other hand love it and will chose Pop over other resorts any day. Even for resort days sitting at the pool bar relaxing was very enjoyable.

I'm not particularly a fan of the values, but in order to keep going back we have stayed at Pop many times now. I haven't had an issue with rooms being clean (our one stay at All Star Sports though would not have me returning there any time soon) but it's the loud chaotic feel of the resort I don't care for. The bus waits were long. Despite having a designated bus that everyone raves about, the lines are so crazy long and sometimes there are 3 buses there for one park, which seems great except they block each other in to load everyone so you don't leave until all 3 are loaded and it ends up being quite a long time. The uncovered bus stops aren't ideal to me either. The food court always seems crazy busy too.

If you need an affordable room where you aren't looking to relax at the hotel it always fit the bill. But prices seem to have gone up dramatically so I'm not sure even that will be the case anymore. I'll find out in a couple weeks what I think of the new rooms though.

I totally agree with not liking the new room refurb. With the Murphy bed pulled down there is probably less than 2 feet between the beds. This is where the sideways walking is essential.

I spoke directly with my housekeeper about the dirty conditions on the floor in my room. She did not seem to understand my language and I could not speak hers. What I did get out of it was that all she had to clean the floors was a dry swiffer type of mop. (She pointed to it) Those floors need a regular wet cleaning and in this era of charging more and giving less that is just not going to happen at Disney. They have already collected your money so now it is your job to interrupt your vacation to solve the basic service problems that Disney is ALLOWING to happen.

I spoke with two other managers I encountered roaming my room area. The first one had a less than helpful attitude so I did not pursue other points with her. The second one was trying to help me with a lack of WI-FI issue so I had to focus on that at the moment.

Didn't Disney subcontract out their housekeeping services?

Remember, Disney is charging a premium price for resort stays and providing poor service. You are now expected to tolerate this all for the privilege of staying on site. You can do so much better regarding price and amenities by staying off site. Check out the information that can be found here: https://www.disboards.com/forums/orlando-hotels-and-attractions.15/

We stayed at Pop twice, the first time was pretty bad, musty dirty room, we walked right back to the font desk to express our concerns, the font desk staff said they could not promise another room would be any better. The second room was actually clean.

The second time, we decided the first time must of been a one off, so after a few stays at other hotels we tried it again. The staff wasn't very friendly, bus service was bad and the rooms again not clean, actually had dirty sheets when we checked in.

We wont be back.

Yikes. I would’ve definitely gone to front desk and asked for another room. Staying at pop for one night as we have a late flight in and I hope I don’t have an issue with a dirty room.

I should have!
