Trick or Tweet! The Lurkyloos Do F&W, etc: 11/8 Last Day at WDW!

WOW!! Your costumes are AMAZING! All that hard work really paid off! I'm so impressed. All those great shots, I would have a hard time figuring out which ones to frame and hang on the wall! :goodvibes

If you don't mind me asking, do you remember what lipstick/stain you are wearing? I LOVE the color and I've been searching for something just like it (and wasted some money doing so...:rolleyes1).

I would've thought you were cast members too! How nice of you guys to ham it up for the people :cutie:.

BEST.VACATION.PICTURES.EVER!!!!

These installments were amazing. I love the playfulness between you and Patrick. It is so great how you both got into character and how the other guests reacted. The Roots pictures are stunning. I was smiling the entire time I was reading.

I want a pair of Minnie ears like Jensey's. Patiently waiting for the next installment.

Off topic... were you and Patrick thinking of trying Magic and Merriment again or are you over it?

Yay!!! I'm so glad you liked the post! I will actually be doing M&M again this year with a pal. Patrick is totally over D23 events—he didn't even want to do the Muppet Disney & Dickens one (but mostly because we can watch the movie at home and book our own reservation at the Tam O'Shanter for about a third of what one ticket to that event costs). I am ready to have my mind changed about MVMCP—it's the price and the crowds that I get hung up on, though.

I gotta say, those are some mighty impressive Halloween costumes! You guys definitely don't put on a pair of Mickey ears and call it a day! Great job!

Hey, thanks! Usually we don't go this all-out. (One year I actually DID just put on a pair of Mickey ears and call myself a Mouseketeer :lmao: ). But I love these costumes so much, I'm hoping one day we get to wear them at Tokyo Disneyland.

Oh my gosh, as I was posting this I was thinking, "Man, I love that shade of lipstick I wore—I wonder what I used..." :rotfl2: I have so many dang lipsticks, I can't quite remember. But I was on an Armani Beauty kick at one point, so it may have been Shine Lipstick #49 over Stila lip liner #12. Alternatively, two similar colors in my drawer (which I didn't own at the time) are Stila Lip Glaze in Pomegranate Crush and Exude Lip Creme in Cranberry—either of those might work. :thumbsup2

Wonderful Halloween costumes. I can see why everyone thought you were cast members. Can't wait to read more!

Wow those costumes were amazing! I wish i had the creativity to dress up as something really cool like that! I absolutely love all the Roots pictures!

I love... I repeat I love your costumes! When I first saw the pics I did not know what Patrick was. But now I do! How awesome. I'm glad some peeps knew who he was that must have been a delight. You guys look like you have so much fun, it makes me want to come hang out with you in WDW with my fiance LOL. The party you two went too did not looked crowded at all, lucky you. can't wait to see more

I know I said this before, but loved the costumes! You looked like you had to much fun with pictures in the park. You looked like an attraction! Too bad we didn't do the party that night. We could have our pictures taken with you to!

Wonderful pics! Looks like Patrick is a laugh a minute!

Yes! He is exactly one laugh per minute, give or take a chuckle. :rotfl:

Hey, thanks! More on the way!

They are soooooo good at what they do. I am extremely jealous!

I think when I get to the rest of the party pix you'll see more of the crowds. It was pretty busy, but turned out to be nothing compared to the Halloween party at Disneyland—what a mob scene!!!

:lmao: Seriously, though, it would have been fun to see you guys again!

Where were we…? Ah, yes!

I found the video Nate was shooting in one of the photos from the last update—Harrison Hightower speaks!

I guess it was a testament to Patrick’s skill that—even though they had no idea who he was supposed to be—so many people wanted their picture taken with him!

Nate also got footage of Shiriki Utundu becoming possessed by the Voice of the Magic Kingdom:

Why, even Jedi want to know what the deal is with Harrison Hightower!
MNSSHP_Oct2010_225.jpg

After dinner, we hit up the trick-or-treat trail by Tomorrowland Speedway. It was so dark out there that we actually turned off Shiriki Utundu’s eyes for a while because they seemed painfully bright.

It was getting close to time for the fireworks, so we staked out a spot at the end of Main Street.

MNSSHP_Oct2010_241.jpg

Gaaah! PhotoPass! Put that thing down!
MNSSHP_Oct2010_242.jpg

I dashed into Casey’s Corner to get some ice water and ended up getting the nicest compliment from a woman who said mine was the best costume she’d seen all night. Honestly, I had a bit of a complex cuz Patrick’s was SO elaborate and mine had been done so many times. So it was nice to hear that!

Meanwhile, Nate and Patrick played with the camera…

MNSSHP_Oct2010_243.jpg

Shiriki Utundu likes suckers—who knew?
MNSSHP_Oct2010_244.jpg

Suckers and ice water…
MNSSHP_Oct2010_245.jpg

The Roots picked a great spot at the end of Main Street for watching and shooting the fireworks. The park was pretty crowded, but we weren't shoulder-to-shoulder during the show at least. Patrick and I were surprised to discover that the Magic Kingdom's Hallowishes fireworks show everyone raves about is the very same Halloween show we've had at Disneyland for a couple of years—for FREE! Of course that all changed when our Halloween party moved to Disneyland and they stopped showing it on non-party nights, which ticked off our huge annual passholder base. See what you think…

OK, so now I remember what happened: We actually watched the parade twice, but the Roots took a break from shooting during the first one. We showed up too late to get a good spot that time and were crammed up against some storefronts in Liberty Square just down from the bridge. I remember being extremely hot and uncomfortable in my costume and ignoring most of the candy the performers tossed in favor of an ice water. For the second showing of the parade, Jensey and I staked out her favorite spot, which is right at the edge of the bridge to Liberty Square (on the Liberty Square side). Basically the spot from which you could take these photos:

MNSSHP_Oct2010_276.jpg

MNSSHP_Oct2010_277.jpg

MNSSHP_Oct2010_278.jpg

Now I may be misremembering, but I think the reasons for this being Jensey's favorite spot are that A) it's a great place to see the Headless Horseman and where he usually begins to pick up speed, and B) it's right before a spot where the candy-chucking cast members pick up more ammo, so they usually dump LOTS of it on the crowd in that area. As it turned out, almost all the candy we got at the party came from the two parades—the treat trails were stingy by comparison.

Jensey and I dragged over a couple of chairs and held the spot while Patrick and Nate went off to ride a couple rides. They came back with the coolest story: Apparently a pair of Japanese tourists spotted Patrick as Harrison Hightower near the Winnie the Pooh ride and went nuts, shouting, "Mr. Hightower! Mr. Hightower! Can we get a picture with you?!"

MNSSHP_Oct2010_279.jpg

I think that was probably the highlight of the party for Patrick—finally having other guests know who he was dressed as. And it makes me want to take our little costume show on the road to Tokyo Disneyland next Halloween!

When the second parade started, we were kind of disappointed to see that the Headless Horseman merely cantered down the parade route toward the bridge. I've since read that he's not allowed to gallop for the first few parades of the season cuz the horse isn't ready yet, or something? Let me know if you have the scoop on this…

As you may know, I am sorta kinda anti-parade, but even I had to admit the floats in Mickey's Boo to You parade were pretty amazing. If only they could do something about the inane theme song, whose lyrics seems to consist entirely of the words "boo," "to," and "you"…

"BOO to you, and to YOU, and you, and you"
MNSSHP_Oct2010_294.jpg

"Boo to YOU and you too, BOO to you and you"
MNSSHP_Oct2010_295.jpg

"Boo-hoo you, boo to YOU, you boo too"
MNSSHP_Oct2010_296.jpg

"Boo boo boooooo, boo boo boo boo booooooo"

"You, you, YOU, you and you and you too" (repeat to infinity/insanity)

I also appreciate the clever inclusion of characters like the Haunted Mansion caretaker and gravediggers.

MNSSHP_Oct2010_303.jpg

MNSSHP_Oct2010_304.jpg

Goofy's Candy Co. closes the parade in a shower of foil-wrapped chocolate candies, which make it possible for you to never have to actually buy candy from Goofys Candy Co. again.

After the parade we took a quick look at the dance party going on inside the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon. I think maybe I would better understand the whole "dance party" thing if I were a parent.

Up Next: Last Day at WDW + Mickey's Halloween Party at Disneyland!

loving the halloween pixs...too too good :thumbsup2 :worship: you guys look really good...hope you won't mind some friendly competition w/ my version of the Black Widow Bride ;) I'm awaiting my PP pictures and then will start my TR from our trip...hope you'll pop in for our fun and my sad :sad2: cake review

but back to you! I love ToT as well...can't wait to be screaming up and down on that in Jan! and that is so sweet about the cake and souvie card at HBD :goodvibes

we had guests stopping us too and taking pictures of us as we posed w/ others...it was actually quite fun...would love to see those photos the candid shots the Roots took are great and your DH Patrick is a hoot! I especially like the pixs of him dancing w/ Jessie.

we sadly missed seeing the headless horeman during our trip due to rain/wet pavement...the shots you have are great!

Just wanted to comment on your observation on the Headless Horseman. I was at the Halloween Party last Sunday (23rd), and noticed that he definitely trotted down the street. In the past three years that I have been attending this party, which I LOVE, this is the slowest he has ever ridden. I believe it may be to allow people to actually take photos.

I also wanted to say, that I am a total lurker on your trip reports and love your updates and the photos! Great costumes as well!

Those are the best Hallowishes and parade pictures I have ever seen! They even beat out the pictures on the Photopass.

Fabulous photos, Carrie! The two of you looked absolutely amazing.

Makes me a wee bit bummed that we had decided not to go to the party during that trip and missed seeing your costumes in person.

Oh no! I'm simultaneously sad and intrigued to find out what happened with the cake! :scared:

Hey, thanks for coming out of lurkdom! That makes sense about the photos, I guess. It just kinda takes the excitement level down a notch!

:goodvibes I love them! I keep thinking I need to do a Blurb book of just the fireworks and parade shots I have from the Roots!
