Yeah see I personally think that one bites when you're limited off the bat simply because of funds and traveling party sizes. I don't expect at all for more variety of accommodations to be dirt cheap but I do still wish it was more economical. We have no idea when we will get back to WDW but if the next time we go we have a child we would love for my mom to come with us (she hasn't been to WDW for well over 25 years) so that leaves a ?? for us since it would be 3 adults and at least 1 child if we choose to stay onsite again.

Just based off the types I know (as others have mentioned too) they were selecting one from each category but as for why they chose the ones they did is beyond my understanding. My guess is they might have looked at the locations in relations to certain characteristics. I can't say with utter confidence here but I feel like the other values (All-Stars and POP) are usually fairly booked, could it be they were selecting AOA for that reason rather than selecting POP or All-Stars? I'm not sure. Another poster on another thread mentioned YC was without a DVC attached to it so they thought that might be the reason YC was chosen over another Deluxe. As for the Moderate choice it could be Dis703 mentioned as that does make sense.

With 3A 1K you’d be better off renting DVC from a reputable broker. We took my mil on our 1st trip, so 6 of us at AoA.

While my kids still talk about that resort 4 years on, I wish I’d known about renting DVC. Need a little mil separation on vacation

I'm leery of absolutes, especially when there is zero information to back it up. Disney conducts focus groups, yes. Has troves of information about guests, yes. Used that information and conducted a thorough study and polling before implementing this new policy? Completely unknown.

I understand the importance of unbiased information, hence my question. The poll isn't asking Disney fans if they like Disney. (clearly biased based on our demographic) It's asking if (non service) dogs should be allowed at Disney resort. I'm looking for a valid reason that the Dis demographic would skew the results negatively or be less accurate than any other poll. Perhaps there is.

I've been following this thread since the very beginning and even then it was clear that people were not in favor. There has been no "I'm piling in with the masses" mentality. The % against has been very steady since the poll was at 10 votes versus when it's been over 900.

As with most other large topics this thread isn't the only one out there. If we look at comments I have seen those in favor of the new policy be trampled down as far as their opinions being heard here on this thread. Not everyone by any means but there have been quite a few of "I'm in favor of this because.." only to have multiple people come right back at them and say "but but but" and then those people tend to have left the thread.

Of course people should be able to say their opinion without the feeling of being silenced as our mods have mentioned. I've seen people say you're not being sympathetic towards me while at the same time not being sympathetic towards those who are in favor of the new policy (I am paraphrasing this of course). Someone many pages back said they were thrilled with this policy and that they just booked a trip when before they wouldn't have even thought to and they absolutely should be able to say that. They were met with "person who books that cabin after you and ends up in the hospital from the exposure to your dog might disagree. But I suppose that's their problem; not yours, right?" Yeah...

I don't honestly know if anyone has actually said "there's no negative reaction" because clearly that is the case that there has been negative reactions but it has been said that there isn't only negative reaction.

Just got a call from a CM in response to an email I sent to the generic guest service email. She said at Fort Wilderness, cabin loops 2200 and 2300 would be the only ones designated dog-friendly. If this is the case, this alleviates my concerns regarding my husband's allergy. We will probably still bring a pillowcase cover just in case, but I am much less worried now.

For people worried about pillows, pack a fresh pillow. You can get them for relatively cheap and then at least you will know a dog hasn't been near it.

I googled to find the post -- haven't ever visited the main page of that blog. So it appears it's true that Disney removed the link from the site -- very amusing.

That is a good point. I know people have mentioned renting DVC and I do think that's a real choice for sure.

We just got back from Vegas with my mom. First time we've travelled with her in the near 10years that I've been with my husband. Went pretty well too but absolutely know what you mean on the in-laws front lol. We've frequently travelled with my husband's mom and his step-dad but as we are getting older our desires are shifting and I think we'd like a bit more separation than we used to. I know for sure I wouldn't want to share a room period (as in not in a suite) with both my mom and my husband or both my in-laws and my husband...way too close for comfort lol.

Did they delete the Disney Parks Blog post? I don't see it anymore. I posted a comment (negative) this morning and wanted to see if it survived moderation. But I cannot find the post anymore.

You can still find it by clicking "latest stories" in the blue tool bar on top. Then scroll down and click "more stories". It's not in Disney World Stories even though older stories are still there. It's been buried for some reason.

You know what, I’m following up on my own post because what the hell. The more I started thinking about it, the more convinced I am that this policy needs to go.

I have seen NUMEROUS people across all social media over the last 1-½ years I’ve been researching WDW state how Disney will bend over backwards to accommodate their needs and to make magic for them. CMs in all areas. WDW is supposed to be the place where dreams come true.

We all live in the “real world”, where we get sick, lose loved ones, lose jobs, struggle with relationships, health issues, the list goes on and on.

We go to the place “where dreams come true” to ESCAPE REALITY. That is why Disney does and should always bend over backwards for its guests needs and wants when it can. That’s why the Magical Express exists (one reason). It’s why Disney buses you to the parks (one reason). I don’t have to worry about traffic. Or bills. Or family drama. But you have to make decisions one way or another. Do some guests “dream” of being with their pet in their room? Sure. But you know what 99% of guests dream of? A problem-free, joyful, magical moment in time with their loved ones. This policy will put that in jeopardy. Sure there are rude people who work at WDW, people have a bad day, nothing will ever be perfect. But they try to make it that way. This policy will take that “dream” away from or at least taint it for more families than it will give it to. It makes me sad. It really does. That’s my opinion. Take it or leave it.

I was trying to quote so here is the message I was responding too

Knoebels, a family owned Amusement Park in Northeastern PA has allowed dogs in their park for years, heck the dogs are even allowed on a few of the rides. No breed or size restrictions the dogs just have to be leashed and picked up after. My family has gone their for years and I've never saw any of the things that people are swearing is going to happen. But of course you're dealing with much smaller and less crowded area than WDW.

Also, there's no breed restrictions on service dogs. Pitbulls, German Shepherds, Dobermans, and other "vicious" breeds can be service dogs and I'm insulted that some people in here purposely singled out those breeds as the ones who will fight/bite another dog or person. Especially since people who choose to have those breeds (or even a mix dog with one of those breeds) already deal with people/businesses going against ADA and swearing they aren't real service dogs just because they are "vicious".

You are trying to compare apples to oranges. Knoebels is not Disneyworld. They no hotels or resorts, they have cabins and a campground we have been to Knoebels many times and Disneyworld several times. There is no comparison. Knoebels is a small family friendly park.. Disneyworld is huge attracting people from all over the world how many International travellers head to Knoebels for their family vacation and stay on property for days or weeks at a time. Disneyworld has many international travellers that stay on property at the resorts We travel from Canada every year to Disneyworld, as do many people from Great Britain and Australia, as well as several other countries.

You can also go to Disney's Official FB page. The story is there as well and the story brought up isn't the Parks Blog but is written by a Disney person. It's a post from October 13th at 12:12pm (Central time as that is my time zone).

I don't know about comments being deleted and I haven't read the story but they do still have something up on their official FB page about it.

I guess if people assume the worst then that will always be the prevailing mindset. But as I said my reasons for not allowing this is you're actually being unfair to the dogs.

They have removed many of the ones that were not happy with the announcement or not shared them at all.
