Trial Run for Dogs in Resort Rooms

IMO this new Policy will see only be a small increase in those that will bring their dogs especially if they fly and coupled with the 50.00 per day cleaning fee. (Have not seen if the fee per day is per dog)

Yep. Disney are taking a couldn’t care less attitude. Can I move? No as there are no dates for resorts unless I spend thousands extra.
Can they guarantee me a room that has not housed a dog? No. They can only request that.
As for allergies, I guess I’ll have to bring antihistamines which knock my DS out for six.
Very unfair.

But hopefully this new Disney dog policy will be very temporary.

It is in effect for one full year.

It's a matter of opinion whether that period of time is "very temporary," but IMO, it is not.

I’ve had mine deleted. I’ve also had my posts on the FB page deleted.

No & others who choose to stay in the other not pet-friendly resorts won’t be either.

I keep seeing this argument: those who don't like the pet policy have a lot of other resorts to picK from.

But as a family of 5, I really don't. My options are:
1. CBR
2. POR
3. AoA
4. A family suite at All Star
5. Deluxe resorts (with Yacht club coming up as the least expensive option)
6. A cabin

POR, AoA, the cabins, and Yacht club all allow dogs now. That leaves me with one moderate (which I've stayed at twice and hate), one value (which costs more than the moderates for less amenities), or deluxe resorts for nearly twice the cost of POR.

So do I cancel my trip at POR that's in less than 2 weeks? Stay someplace I don't like? Or stay somewhere I can't afford?

I don’t know. But my opinion is based on current fact, not hypotheticals. I think if enough ppl expresss dissatisfaction or the trial doesn’t go well it could also just be reversed.

And I think that's why many of us on this thread are being so vocal. At the very least, we don't want it expanded. The hope would be to reverse it.

swan/dolphin, while being on the Disney property, don't have the same advantages as Disney resorts.

If people that have requested to NOT be near the "pet Friendly" locations and being told there is no guarantee... wondering if the opposite might be true. If you want a pet room or building you also risk of their no guarantee policy. It would only be a request just like any other. Even bookable room categories are not guaranteed.

Can you imagine if this was reversed ...a pet policy was in place and they cancel it with 2 days notice.

Is it really surprising that a business who most likely changed a policy to tap into more revenue wouldn’t want bad publicity on one of their sites about that change before it even happened?? It’s not yelp.

No I didn’t. Honestly I didn’t check any myself. It was the CM on the phone doing that. A very disappointing conversation. She was trying to sound upbeat, but there was a lot of frustration coming through. I was her first call of the day, first thing this morning. The attitude was ‘complain at reception when you check-in if there’s a problem’.

They might if they are allergic and have to share a magical express bus with a dog or ride on a bus that wasn't properly cleaned.

Any medical professional (e.g., EMT) that is on Disney's payroll is subject to HIPAA.

EMTs and Paramedics employed by Disney are, yes, medical professionals subject to HIPAA Disney as a whole and the vast majority of its 50,000+ Cast Members? No. And even the medical professionals can discloseinfkrmation about any dog incidents. Just not indivduals' information.

ESA are allowed into no-pet housing, they're allowed to fly in an airplane cabin and not required to be crated.

Yes. These are the two instances I cited previously. Rental housing and commercial flights.

Was in Marshall's about a year ago and walked into the ladies room. Low and behold there was a very elderly woman washing her dog's bottom in the sink because he had a #2 accident in the shopping cart they were using. I was shocked to say the least. I said something to her about how dirty and germy that was and she told me to shut the "h...." up. I immediately went up to the front desk to find a manager. They manager didn't do anything so the next person that came along would probably use a shopping cart tainted with dog feces.

Bottom line, I like dogs, but I don't need to be in a room where a dog has been laying all over the bed, chairs, etc. It's not sanitary.

And there are other choices if someone has those issues. It’s only ONE deluxe, ONE MODERATE, & ONE Value. I think it’s been argued that the cabins are spread out. Plus Ft. Wildermess always allowed dogs on its property. So, as for the family of 5 on a budget argument, those choices were ALWAYS limited & ppl have complained about that before. I do think it sucks that there was no notice & ppl can’t make a choice now.

Family of 5 here, hence my username. If you look at my signature, POR is essentially our home resort. My wife and I toured CBR, but didn't like it AT ALL. Too spread out and don't like the theming.

So if we didn't stay at POR, I'm left spending more money for a downgrade in resort (AoA or All Star Suites), or paying WAY more for deluxe. To say something like "Well, just choose a different resort" is very unthoughtful. This has real, important impacts for real families.

All this to appease the 14% who think this is a good idea.
