Trial Run for Dogs in Resort Rooms

Can someone that is bringing their dog on a dog vacation at one of the resorts copy the waiver you have to sign? I'm sure it will state that WDW will not be held responsible if your dog injures another guest or CM. Also, that any damages to the room will be the monetary responsibility of the dog owner. There should be a section that states should you be evicted because of your pets bad behavior you will forfeit your right to a refund on any remaining days on your reservation.

I’m not sure a waiver would work in a dog bite situation. They can’t waive the rights of a third party (the injured).

Yeah, mine was just deleted as well. I brought up the issue of pets left alone in a room for 7 hours . They have white washed the blog post and there was no mention of it.

I had planned to mention that part but ultimately stuck with asking whether or not people with allergies and phobias can be guaranteed to be away from dogs and not in a room where dogs have been as well as mentioning the fact that this drastically limits affordable options for larger families if they have to avoid the resorts allowing dogs now.

Sorry still sounds like I want what I want, to me. Right now, choices for pet friendly resorts are also limited. I usually stay Poly, Contemporary or GF, but, if I want to bring a pet & continue to stay deluxe, yacht club is my only choice & I don’t prefer that theming.

You may not prefer it, but at least it won't cost you more money. Taking POR, AoA, the Cabins and YC out of the mix means, for families of 5 with allergies or phobias or even just a preference to not be near dogs, will be stuck paying a lot more for a room if they can't get a room at CBR. YC/BC has always been one of the slightly more affordable deluxes for families of 5.

I understood Disney allowing pets when Irma hit. I know they have to allow service dogs because it's the law. Im an avid dog lover but I don't think this is a good idea for the many reasons already mentioned. However, if Disney has a policy that you will be told ahead of time that your room was previously occupied by a dog and give you the option to switch rooms ,that might help. Or, if they keep all the pet friendly rooms clustered in the same area to minimize exposure to other guests. My concern is the common areas. We have stayed at the YC many times but we will now avoid that resort. Maybe if someone could explain the reason for this trial policy it could squell some of the negativity.

I just can't see Disney allowing dogs over the long term. They are too unpredictable: they can't be herded and managed like people. Dogs are going to pee and poop, at times, where they want to. It just happens.

Allergies & phobias are not something you can flip a switch & make gone!!! This is a NEED. Having your pet on vacation is a WANT. You’ll notice I am not including service dogs (who are trained & well behaved), because they are a NEED.

You’re hearing « I want » from the other side because that fits your narrative & allows you to dismiss the legitimate NEEDS & concerns of others. I am done with this conversation. I coached debate, & I am telling you that your argument does not hold water.

And there are other choices if someone has those issues. It’s only ONE deluxe, ONE MODERATE, & ONE Value. I think it’s been argued that the cabins are spread out. Plus Ft. Wildermess always allowed dogs on its property. So, as for the family of 5 on a budget argument, those choices were ALWAYS limited & ppl have complained about that before. I do think it sucks that there was no notice & ppl can’t make a choice now.

And WDW has made their choice.

I'm sure hoping that the executives that came up with this proposal are looking at the poll results of this thread. A typical poll on this Board can easily be dismissed as "these are Disney fanatics and not representative of the average guest". For example if someone might poll "Are you apposed to premium tent rentals being set up in Tomorrowland?" this board would overwhelmingly oppose it. That's not surprising. Disney fanatics care about theming and how the ugly tents take away from the overall experience (much more than the once or twice in a lifetime visitor might.)

Allowing dogs in a hotel room is really not a "Disney fanatic" topic. I think the number of folks on this Board happy about it versus opposed to it probably is representative of the larger population. Being a Disney fanatic doesn't make one "more allergic" or "more annoyed by barking" or "more disgusted by dog urine smell in a damp hotel room" etc versus anyone else. So I say to Disney: Look at these poll results. The small revenue bump from the 15% will be far outweighed by the 85% opposed.

The Walt Disney Company (though it's really not Walt Disney's company anymore), and people who support the new dog policy (I include them as the policy would go away if no one supported it), have done this to your family. Shame on them for doing this to your family and for putting dogs over humans. I hope you find new dog-free Disney accommodations without having to pay a lot more at a Deluxe resort.

Perhaps you could argue that they put PPL with dogs over other ppl, but the dogs aren’t booking the stay or paying. But, I think we can probably agree that they put making more $$$ over some ppl. But that has been the trend.

Some follow up news! CM noted and guaranteed pet free room when front desk could not. We were told POR building 95(royal rooms) and 80 were the designated pet buildings. Take it for what it’s worth but it’s the most concrete info we have heard.

I didn't pay £2500 for a dog friendly hotel! I booked a pet free hotel! There is no argument.

Well, I posted a very nice concern on the Disney park blog and they deleted it. Appeara they are letting only positive comments through at this time. Nice.

My very "pointed" comment is being reviewed as we speak. I'm fairly sure that they will delete it so I took a screen shot of it. I think it would be a good idea if we all did that in order to prove that they ARE indeed putting their own spin on the public's opinion.

I've read that as the dogs are allowed on DME if a person has an allergy they'll need to wait for another bus. What if the next bus also has a dog? It hardly seems fair.

It would make absolute sense to make that next bus dog-free. Anyone with a dog would have to wait for the following bus. And no, Mears is not going to feel clean the buses between runs.

Emotional support animals and their owners dont have the same rights as service dogs.

Having just returned from DW I can tell you that dogs are already in rooms and by that I mean "service" dogs who have a vest stating that they are service dogs but acting nothing like a service dog ( jumping around, wanting to play with people etc. and no there was not a "training service dog" vest) So some of the thoughts on fleas, noise, urine, and dog smells are already in play.

Does anybody know if those with service dogs are charged a cleaning fee? Has anybody encountered checking into a resort and told a service dog had occupied a room?

Some follow up news! CM noted and guaranteed pet free room when front desk could not. We were told POR building 95(royal rooms) and 80 were the designated pet buildings. Take it for what it’s worth but it’s the most concrete info we have heard.

That would be Acadian House (regular rooms in mansion section) and Parterre Place (Royal Rooms in mansion section).

No, only the Alligator Bayou rooms hold 5 with the Murphy bed. I'm guessing the AB buildings closest to the dog relief areas will be designated pet friendly but no confirmation as of yet. Check out portorleans.org or the POR thread for more dog policy info at that resort.
