Trial Run for Dogs in Resort Rooms

It's interesting that they chose four resorts as a trial. I guess they wanted to test the concept at different price points?

It seems like limiting this to one resort would make more sense.

Yes, I'd guess different price points. I wonder where the pet rooms at AofA will be located? The LM rooms or the Suites? Maybe both?

There is a map and policy info in the POR thread though it does not actually specify which rooms. Right now we are assuming rooms near the designated pet relief areas. Possibly 2 mansions, including one Royal room building, and 2 buildings in Alligator bayou.

Yes and Yes. You need to let them know you are bringing your pet - as there are only a few designated rooms that allow dogs. I spoke to a CM earlier about this.

I agree with you. I’m speaking about reservations made from here on out.

People with allergies aren't idiots, of course we will go else where the same as some one with a nut allergies wouldn't visit the snickers factory. But this policy is no different then Disney annouching that everything will be cooked with nut oil starting November 1st and telling people with nut allergies to "bring there own food"

I for one, simply do Not want to sleep in a Disney dog/kennel room. I want a people-only room and have a people-only resort experience. In short, I don't want to vacation with dogs; it's disgusting.

No one could have known that this new dog policy would go into effect with just two days notice. For some folks that are already in the middle of their vacation, this is really no notice at all. They will start hearing a dog barking in the next room as soon as tomorrow morning.

I personally think this is a pretty cool thing and will work out to be less of a big deal than many are thinking...I live in a very dog friendly resort area and it doesn't appear to hamper tourism or cause crazy incidents with rampaging dogs terrorizing the streets.

Smart of Disney in my opinion - I am an older millennial and neither I nor most of my friends have children (at the most my friends have one child) but most of us have dogs and that does impact vacation plans.

That said, I have a trip planned at POR and the schedule I have planned is a little hectic so I will still be taking my pup to my parents house since I don't plan on taking frequent breaks - that may be something Disney needs to adjust. I know at Universal you can't leave animals unattended and seven hours to me is too long.

Since it’s only certain resorts, I don’t see the big deal. If you don’t like dogs or are allergic or whatever the issue is, don’t stay there. I will not bring my dog every trip, but I like the option. I have had tough choices to make about going on trips when I had elderly dogs or dogs with chronic conditions that would not do well boarding. I always said wdw should have at least one pet friendly hotel & that they could charge a good bit b/c there are ppl willing to pay that for that privilege.

You probably won't get a chance to bring your dog, as this new Disney pet policy will turn out to be temporary.

Chick-Fil-A is all about chicken, though. Dogs aren't central to Disney, (apologies to Pluto LOL ) including their resorts or restaurants. They may not be in the parks as a result of this new policy, but it could be a different story if you want to visit the Boardwalk and take a walk around the lake, or visit YC/BC/BW for something to eat or drink, let alone want to stay at those resorts.

I get this is good news for some dog-owners (although it may not be much fun for the dogs themselves) (at least, not without ignoring some of Disney's rules), but you can enjoy a Disney trip without your pet, whereas some people can't enjoy a Disney trip with dogs there. ...And since dogs aren't crucial to Disney this is unnecessarily creating problems.

What you can't see is the affect it is, undoubtedly, having for people who want/need/have to avoid dogs, though.

I can see that a better balance of dog-friendly places was needed in places, but it seems to be swinging too far the other way and the ones who are affected don't have much of a voice.

Where I live there is now nowhere to enjoy a walk freely where you won't encounter dogs running off-lead.

Some places just don't need to allow dogs.
