My goodness what a bunch of Pollyannas. Dog attacks, major asthma attacks, at least 16 dogs surrounding my room barking during my 2pm nap. My good gravy people on the board complain more about something they "love" with their love of Disney. I'd hate to see what you all do about something you truly dislike. I find that those irresponsible pet owners are also irresponsible parents and let their snot nose brats or punk teens to run wild and ruin people's vacations. The sky is not falling chicken little. Dogs at the resorts are not going to ruin vacations and may well enhance the vacations for many.

I read the first two pages of this thread, and I want to add that many, many hotels are pet friendly. The block off certain rooms, and even wings, and only make those dog friendly. Kimpton and Loews hotels are completely pet friendly (the Universal Loews, too).

I'm not really understanding the outrage. If you're allergic why not choose one of the other resorts? Same if you're worried about noise. Dogs might bark, but babies might also cry and keep you awake.

I think it's about time this started, and Disney is behind the times here.
Most of the concern seems to be for people who already have rooms booked at these hotels. Especially with the short notice.

If you read more, you might?

A bit like a smoker has no idea of the smell and general impact until they become a non-smoker and see things from another perspective, people who haven't encountered phobias, allergies etc. don't necessarily appreciate the details and problems of this issue.

I don't think smokers think the habit doesn't smell. I'm not blind to other perspectives. But I've read Disney will block off specific rooms for this, and there are other resorts to choose from.

Disney does research. I've personally taken many of their surveys. Many people must have requested this option, and there are other resorts that are pet free.

Best thing i've read today.

Some people like the theming, room, location, and resort amenities that particular resorts offer within their budget. Some families need a room that accommodates 5, which POR and AOA offer. It's not as easy as "go choose another resort if you don't like the policy."

So don't choose another resort and stay in a pet-free wing or room?

My point is there are options.

Who is setting the timer? Not even enforceable so it won't be enforced. I have stayed at all the Universal deluxe resorts. I let them know of my allergy and have never seen or heard a dog at the resort. Those rooms are in a separate section adjacent to dog walk areas and pets cannot be left unattended. I have never had an allergic reaction either.

ETA: If WDW can accomplish this, I would have no concerns. Unfortunately, I have little faith in their ability to do so.

It definitely cannot be enforced at DW with that policy.

I've encountered many who didn't totally appreciate the impact on non-smokers until they stopped smoking themselves. There's thinking you know and then there's really knowing and understanding! ...I mentioned the comparison only for people who can't see how the presence of dogs could be a big deal (-breaker) for others.

As has been said in other posts, having other dog-free resorts doesn't address all aspects of this policy.

People. There are 25+ Walt Disney World hotels. Pick the one that fits your needs.

I did, 6 months ago. Now that hotel doesn't fit my needs, Disney should move me at no cost or change of quality. They changed the policy not me, my wife didn't choose to be born with allergies. Unlike disneys choice to change the policy and guest choice to bring a dog.

If this policy was in place before I booked our £2500 trip I wouldn't have chosen AoA. I'm not an idiot.

Here is an acaul serious question. How does this decision effect guests that follow Islam? Surely this would be an issue

I agree with you. I’m speaking about reservations made from here on out.

DH asked the same question. He was deployed to the Middle East for years and is well aware of the customs.
