Do you think dogs should be allowed in guests' rooms?

Never seen so many people complaining about things that haven't happened. I've stayed with my dogs at many hotels, including the 4 Seasons in Orlando, and there are only a few designated rooms that allow pets. If you must stay at one of these 4 hotels, just request that it not be a designated pet friendly room.

It's not just about the rooms themselves; it's also about public areas, noise issues etc..

For people worried about noise during naps, earplugs work great. I use the 3M TEKK ones that go up to 32 decibels when I travel. I'm super sensitive to noise and they block out so much.

I don't think anyone posting here hates animals. There was literally 2 days notice to this new policy It was not planned well...imo. People have reservations well in advance and now being told there is no other room or resort to accommodate them. Some have allergies and children that are afraid of Dogs for good reasons. Rules/policies are broken everyday at WDW and I see this being no different. Housekeeping barely cleans now let alone a deep clean, including carpets. Carpets take time to dry.
Oh! Carpets! That reminds me of what the dogs will do to the carpets, even if they don't actually urinate and defecate on them. Have you ever seen a dog sit down with its hind legs pointing forward whilst using its front legs to pull themselves along dragging their rear end along the carpet, basically using the carpet like toilet paper? Many dogs have worms, whip worms, roundworms, tapeworms. How utterly charming!

I'm coming late to this thread and haven't read all the previous responses yet but--my personal opinion, this is just a bad idea! Between people with allergies, unattended pets making noise, damaging or doing their business in the rooms, seeing or stepping on dog poo on the hotel grounds, people getting attacked by dogs, etc. NO.

I'm ok with legitimate service dogs. I'm ok with people keeping their pets in the hotels in an emergency situation like Hurricane Irma. Everything else, NO! Leave your pet at home or board it somewhere.

I'm waiting for someone's child to be bitten by a dog staying at a hotel. Make it a pit bull and all hell will break loose on Disney due to bad publicity, regardless of the legal liability or guest responsibility. I know I would never take my children to stay at a hotel ANYWHERE where a child had been attacked by guest's improperly supervised dog.

"Resort trial will be held at Ft Wilderness Cabins, Art of Animation, Port Orleans Riverside and Yacht Club."

I know which hotels I will never be staying at again. Its a shame too, because I loved the Ft Wilderness cabins. Art of Animation--gross, just gross. The rooms there are already beat up in need of refurbishment, adding pets to some of them will only make it worse. I don't care how good Disney housekeeping is, I do not want to hear any dogs barking in a room close to me, that's a vacation ruiner right there.

And by the way, just so you don't think I hate animals with a passion, I am a pet owner. I love dogs, cats, snakes, fish, reptiles, and horses, I adopt rescue pets and donate to my local animal shelter on a regular basis.

People. There are 25+ Walt Disney World hotels. Pick the one that fits your needs.
POR fits my needs in budget, room size, theming, and resort amenities. It is my favorite resort in the moderate category. I have stayed at other resorts and there are some that I am not interested in at all. It is truly disappointing that I potentially may not be able to stay there again. I'll reserve final judgement as I read reports of how this dog policy is affecting guests.

This thread is really sad to read through. So much hate and negativity. This is why I say I love animals more than some humans most days.

Volunteer in a pet shelter. You might just change your mind.
Disney is not a pet shelter :confused3. I’m not anti-dog, I’m anti-pet of any kind that will have a negative impact on my thousands of dollars vacation that I save all damn year for. Want to vacation with your pet? Go on a pet friendly vacation.

Our primary resort is Port Orleans Riverside since we are a family of 5 and have very few resort options with 5 person rooms that accommodate our family without completely breaking the bank (WDW is pricey enough even with a moderate room)

Based on the map posted on portorleans.org, it looks like Acadia building 80 and Alligator Bayou building 28 are impacted. Our new favorite building, 38, is close to Acadia 80 but I think it's far enough away to be a non issue FOR US at POR.

Thanks to this new policy, I will be going on a pet friendly vacation... at Disney World

Cute. Volunteering in a hospital working with someone going through a severe allergic reaction might change your mind too. Spend some time in a therapist's office dealing with people with dog phobias or dog aversions.

Now add a dog attack in the news. Guess where those people won't be taking their child to stay?.
But they will! I agree wholeheartedly with your views, but I wonder why we all continue giving WDW thousands upon thousands of our dollars when they treat us like this. And everyone will continue giving them their money despite this policy just as they have after a child was killed by an alligator in water with no barriers & no signs to warn parents of this possibility. If we don't speak with our dollars, WDW will never hear us.

I get what you're saying and seen other people say it. Here's my question, as I am not familiar with the Loews Hotels. Are they sprawling resorts like at Disney, or are they normal hotels with one building? There's a world of difference between the two. At the resort, the owners can walk about with their dog anywhere they want unless there are constant CMs policing the walkways. What's to stop them? That is a genuine concern for me.
I have only stayed at 2 Universal resorts. While the theming is very different, if I had to pick, I would say The Hard Rock Hotel is most like the Contemporary in terms of layout and Portofino Bay is most like The Yacht and Beach Club or maybe Wilderness Lodge?

One question I have is a prior reservation needed for a pet friendly room? Nothing in the announcement about that. So people just start showing up with their dogs. How will that work if there are only 2 buildings designated? What if those buildings are full?

I am amazed at the number of people who think this policy is going to be a financial or legal problem for WDW. As if they just slapped together this idea without doing any research or consulting experts about this. Disney would be no more liable if my dog attacked another dog, guest etc. than they would be if you or your child attacked another dog or guest while on property. Same with people who suffer allergic or other medical or psychological reactions from the presence of dogs. You have been given notice of the new risk. Don't get me wrong, I do not like this policy, nor do I think it was rolled out with sufficient notice to guests. But the predictions that Disney is going to suffer legal or financial harm are largely without merit.

Disagree. THEIR new policy that is very lax in it's rules will bring potential for guests harm and they will be sued. Just like the hotel in Las Vegas is being sued because their policy didn't prevent the arsenal from coming in. If Disney had breed restrictions, weight restrictions and the rules many hotels have that the dog can not be left alone in the room (must have sitter or daycare) AND make it a bookable category so no dog will be in a non-dog room and no guest will unknowingly show up to a dog room - THEN they have done some ample protecting but to let this be a free for all with all kinds of potential harm ......... they are by their own actions liable.

Oh, how perfectly wonderful! According to this map I will have an extra treat while enjoying the pool area! While relaxing in the hot tub I can enjoy watching dogs relieving themselves, terrific! Just what I always wished for at my Disney Deluxe Resort with its deluxe pricetag!

No worries, I am sure the dog will put their back end to you so they won't see you in your bathing suit ...........

Sadly, a comment by a Disney blog writer will not reassure me of anything. They often contradict their own comments, break their own policy and unless this is a strict bookable category ......... this will be a free for all. Think of it, don't tell them you have a dog, tell them you don't want housekeeping, who knows when you walk if the dog is paid for or not ........ and if your dog is quiet .......... you just stayed with them for free.

Sadly, again, Disney will sell every room and ask forgiveness later.

WHY should I have to protect my sleep, read or relaxation from noise pollution?

Pet-owner friendly rather than pet-friendly.

THIS X 1,000,000!

I've taken my pet on vacation in a pet friendly condo on the beach. My pet was rarely alone, walked the beach, swam in the ocean and more. DISNEY is not animal friendly by nature of the type of business, the supposed hotel restrictions etc.
