Trevor's Star Wars Make A Wish trip

I called the heart center again yesterday morning because I was too impatient to wait for results... His cardiologist is on vacation and will be back on Wednesday! Results are in but his cardiologist has to talk to me about the results and the next step in Trev's care... I sure hope that is just routine and the next step in his care is his regular cardiology appt in a few months!

This morning we got our flight info! Yay!! We are taking a red eye to Orlando on the 1st and arriving on the 2nd at 6am! Yikes!! We will for sure be spending the day at GKTW... We leave on the 8th at 7pm. It is starting to feel real now that all the pieces are falling in place. We have been waiting for so long for dates that it was something we were just talking about!

We have reservations for the Tusker House so we know for sure we are doing Animal Kingdom that day and on the 7th we will be doing SWW for Trev's actual wish.

Trev finished up basketball today and the girls finished last week. Now we have a few weeks before Trev starts spring soccer. That will give us more time for planning now that opens up 3 nights a week we will not have practice for awhile :)

I'm so sorry he went on vacation before calling. The waiting game is so difficult.

I hope everyone can get some sleep on the red eye. That's great you'll have a FULL day the first day. I'm sure you'll enjoy your day at GKTW.

Glad you get a break from sports and can do some planning.

JJ started Buddy Baseball today.

JJ started Buddy Baseball today.

It may be a short break... The kids are begging for swim lessons. Because of Kara's surgery they did not do it before Christmas like we always do so they haven't done lessons since last July. Maybe I will break down and do it. It is only a month after all. Soccer does not start until April.

I tried to get Trev into baseball but he insists on soccer... The only bad thing about spring soccer is that it is usually raining! I hope that JJ had fun playing ball today!

We got some more good news today. Our wish grantors called and were asking for dates we were available for our reveal party for Trev and they were saying they are looking into having the 501st Legion come. I have looked into it a little and it looks really cool! Trev would LOVE it if storm troopers and Darth Vader showed up at our house! I sure hope they are able to come!

We have been thinking of doing Lego Land or Kennedy Space Center. We have been to neither so any advice from those that have been would be great!

Jackie

How fun :) Hope it works out for the reveal party.

Thanks! Me too... Now if only I can keep it a secret for that long :) That is why I am telling all you guys. That way I can share the good news and not have to worry about someone telling Trev or the girls before the reveal party... And that is not until May.

Swimming lessons would be great! Then they'll be ready to hit the pool in FL. We run into the rain problem with swimming lessons in the summer. It rains every day almost. You'll probably run into that when you are here. Plan for a quick thunderstorm daily late afternoon. Last year, the last weekend of SWW it rained at Hoopla time each night. The one night it was even cancelled due to a thunderstorm. Two or three times it was cancelled from the Idol screen because of rain, but it still ran on the main stage.

While rain sounds aweful for SWW, trust me it comes as a nice welcome usually. It takes some of that humidity away and drops the temps a bit. Usually the rain comes between 4 and 6pm.

We had annual passes for the first year Legoland was opened. It's a nice park, but certainly not Disney. They also have the water park opened too. JJ loved Legoland. There wasn't much shade as they took out most of the old trees in the Legoland part and put in new trees. Not too much air conditioned buildings either, so we could only go on cooler days. We did not renew passes this year. It's about an hour away from Disney. Two of JJ's doctors are right down the street from Legoland.

We've never been to Kenedy Space Center in all our years here. Too busy at Disney. ;)

That would be great if they can get the 501st to come. It's an awesome organization. DH has been in contact with our local 501st and ordered a costume from an approved vendor.

Yes. Swim lessons would be helpful. The kids love the pool and I'm sure they will be swimming everyday in Florida. We are use to the rain... It is an all day everyday thing here or at least that is how it seems at times :) thunderstorms though we are not used to. At least it is for a short time! Hopefully they do not cancel any Star Wars events on Trev's wish day!

I am just learning of the 501st Legion. How cool for your husband to do that!

Jackie

sorry you are having to wait on Trevor's results

yay for having your flight info...while its tough doing the red-eye, you don't loose the whole day flying....is it a direct flight? just have the kids all in comfy clothes and blankets...we've done two overnights and they turn all the lights down really low.

what a cool idea for the reveal party! I can just see Trevor :banana::banana:

so happy you have Tink to get info from, she is the SWW QUEEN :worship: hope you all get to meet up during the trip, they are such a sweet family!

I sure hope they can book the 501st. They are a great organization.

I know, I sure hope the rain is around your plans. During the night while we are sleeping is a better time for rain than during the day while so much is going on.

It's funny how we went to SWW all those years ago for Grumpy and over time our whole family became fans of the Star Wars universe. I can barely remember a time there wasn't something Star Wars in our house. Even growing up, my brother had many Star Wars figures and I had the record album.

On second thought, I don't think there ever was a time where SW wasn't in our house. JJ plays with some of dh's SW toys from childhood and Grumpy has given him all his light sabers and most of his to play with.

Everything really is starting to feel real!!!

I hope the cardiologist has nothing negative to say. Here's to Wednesday not being too far off!

The 501st looks SUPER COOL!!! I hope they are able to square away everything for the big reveal!

We signed our two up for swim lessons today. We've been bad and not had them in for over a year. DD was fighting us about her lessons (with one of us) and DS hated being in the big pool because it's about 10* cooler than the baby pool. I told them that they needed to really put effort into learning so we can swim a lot during vacation.

But I did tell them I'd be buying some floaties....

Hi there, I am joining in! Your kiddos are super cute and it sounds like you have a wonderful trip planned! The reveal party should be wonderful!

We've never been to Legoland but I have several friends who have been to the one in CA. Their kids loved it. We actually had tickets to go to the one in Florida when we were there last summer but DH broke his foot and we never made it. I understand that it is really geared towards kids who are 10 and under.

Kennedy Space Center is probably a bit old for your kids. We took my kids when they were 10 and 11. Frankly they didn't enjoy that much even though DH and I found it interesting. I would think that with your children being younger, either another day at Disney or Legoland would be a better choice.

Thanks for joining in! I love all the advice I am getting on here about things to do and places to go. Having never been it makes it a little easier to plan. Since Lego land and Legos were Trev's back up wish we are going to try really hard to make it to Lego land. Right now his life revolves around Star Wars and Legos :)

I called the cardiologist again today because frankly I am not that patient when it comes to finding out if Trev will need surgery this year or not... The nurses office called me back to say his cardiologist does not have time to talk to me until next Monday and that nothing will change in a week. He has to go over the results himself with me. She also said that these tests were to be done to be a baseline for future care he will receive but if something comes up on the tests now surgery could be this year... What does that mean!?! So, another week of waiting...

That would be great if it could work out for the two Star Wars fans to meet up.

UGH!!! The waiting game stinks. I'm sorry you have to wait another week. I know this is really tough, but please don't beat yourself up over the what ifs, they'll eat you alive if you let them. You know you have to wait a week,so until next Monday try to concentrate on Disney planning, swimming, soccer, and fun. I'm playing the waiting game myself right now, and am working hard at keeping it on the back burner of my thoughts.

Just started on your trip report, Trevor has come so far and he sounds like a special kid! :goodvibes So glad to hear he has exceeded expectations, hope that continues forever :) I can practically feel his love of Star Wars and excitement about the trip by the way you write. It sounds like he will have an awesome time in Disney.

I'm going to continue reading but just wanted to say I'm a surgery lover too. :rotfl: Granted, my surgeries are nowhere near as scary as his, but I do understand why he likes them. :rotfl: I'm not a fan of the aftermath so much, don't enjoy the pain of recovery, but I loveee that wonderful sleep you get, the energy of hospitals and all the attention from nurses. IV medicine is the best medicine. Okay, you can ignore me! I was just excited to hear someone else with the same outlook. I'm sure it must be quite the opposite for you, here's to hoping everything turns out better than the doctors even think it can. :wizard::wizard:

I'm not as anxious now knowing that I will now not know anything until Monday. I was a little anxious today knowing I would find out today or tomorrow... Praying you get the results you want too and get them quickly :)

I told the kids I signed them up for swim lessons and they start Monday. They were SO excited!! I haven't told Trev but I moved him down one level so all 3 could have lessons at the same time... Just makes it easier on me :) Although, I don't think that will be a bad thing as they have not had lessons since last August and they have only been to the pool a couple times since then. With Kara's surgery and then her not being able to get her ear wet I wasn't about to take 2 of them and not the 3rd!

Planning for Disney is always good :) It is a nice break from the stress of my kid's appts, tests and surgeries!

Thanks! Trev is obsessed with Star Wars to put it mildly... I am so excited for him that he gets to go to Star Wars Weekend. I can't wait to see what they have planned for him!

As for surgeries and hospitals stays I have to admit I was SO happy when I was on hospital bedrest with my twins :) I had done it before with Trev for a few weeks and I hated it! But once I had toddler at home and I was pregnant with the girls I dreamed about the day I would be on bed rest and have the nurses taking care of me... So I do get it :) Although, as a parent I hate seeing my babies go through that. But I am very lucky they have such wonderful attitudes toward surgery. We will see what my 4 year old thinks when she finds out she has to have another one this summer:eek:

Sorry you have to wait so long. Continuing to pray about the results.

Thanks for the continued prayers! I really appreciate it.

Jackie

We got a new kitty this past weekend. She is a 4 year old calico and her name is Ava... She was in a home with one kid... Not sure she is liking it with 3 kids though! We will give it a couple weeks and see if she likes them. If not, we will give her back as it is not fair to her to have to hide all day because she is scared of the kids nor is it fair for the kids to have a pet who does not like them! She is super sweet though once the kids go to bed! She is a lap kitty which I have always wanted!

Here is a sweet pic of the kiddos at bedtime... Every couple of weeks they have a "sleepover" in the spare room. They look forward to this and love staying up late reading to each other :)

Ok... One more for tonight :)

When the girls and I got home from MOPS tonight there was a package at the door. The girls were SO excited they yelled Mickey Mail! I think all mail will be Mickey Mail to them :)

They were disappointed that we had to wait until Trev got home from school. But they managed :)

This was from Jen (goteamwood). Thank you SO much for blessing my kiddos! The clothes were AMAZING!!

They were So excited that there were individual bags for each kiddo... They opened them so fast It was hard to get good pics of everything.

I love their Mickey dresses and so do they! I tried to get a close up but they would not take them off! Kara exclaimed it was the perfect dress to wear to Disney World! I love Trev's Star Wars mickey shirt and his shorts. He was pretty excited to be getting his first pair of Star Wars shorts. He wanted to wear them to school tomorrow but it is a little too cold for that! We settled on him wearing the shirt tomorrow then he will save it for his trip.

Here is a close up of Trev's shorts.

Again thank you So much for the wonderful gifts that you gave my kiddos! They absolutely LOVED them. Along with the clothes were stickers, tattoos, hair bows, puzzles and washcloths for each kiddo.

You guys are all so amazing! Thank you so much!!
