We have stayed at SSR in a 2 bd b4 and liked it..we have also stayed at BW in a regular room.

DH wants BWV
DW wants SSR
DD wants BWV
DS wants SSR

what would you do? What are some of the pro's and con's at both to help us with our decision??
We have the SSR Treehouses already booked for our 11 month window...but not sure if we should switch them to BWV at 7 month window...
we plan on spending a lot of time at the pool also..how close is it to each of these??

Please help!

Wow... we have not stayed at either of these resorts but I have the exact sam questions. We are looking to go in August 2011 and there will be 6 of us. We spend equal amounts of time at Epcot and DTD.

What pionts would give someone to chose between the two?

Sorry for jumping onto your question but you beet me to the punch on asking by about 20 mins. Thank you for asking.

We own points at SSR and the cons to the treehouse villas is going to and from is very inconvenient. Need a special bus to come/go.

We have stayed at both and the unanimous decision in our family would be BWV. The pool at THV is not even as nice as the backyard pools are here. You will have a 15 minute walk to the main SSR pool. The pro to the THV pool is that every time we walked by it, there was nobody there because everyone was going over to the SSR pools.

Also, if you do not have a car, I would strongly urge you not to stay at THV. Even if it were free, I would not stay there without my own car. The villas are very nice, VERY NICE, but they are remote.

We haven't actually stayed at THV yet, but we checked out the area on our last trip, and felt the key drawback was actually what you were looking for... pool. Their pool is weak and they are a long ways away from main pool.

Are you staying on DVC points? What's the chance of booking a split stay? We LOVE doing split stays!

1)get to see different environments... feels like 2 trips!
2)very easy to do. We just have the 1st resort send our bags over to the next resort for us while we spend day in parks.
3)We stay in studio sometimes to save points, then splurge on Savannah view, 2BR, etc. (next trip gonna do concierge for a few days)
4)We do dining plan on one of the ressies, instead of doing for the whole week. Nice because we get to check out a few nice places without having to eat like maniacs to use up our creds for a whole week.

Just a thought, that way everyone can get what they want

thank you all for your replies...
yes, we will have our own vehicle there..i like the remoteness of THV with having children with us...we dont have to worry about if they are being loud or jumping up and down throwing a tantrum because there is no one above or below us. Too bad it doesnt have a nice pool by it.
Unless we can book for BWV at 7 months then we will be staying at THV...Either way it will be an experience.
We are staying with DVC Points, but DH will not want to up and change rooms let alone resorts during a stay.

I've not stayed at either, but I've stayed at BCV and I've investigated SSR and BWV. Of the two, I think that SSR is much more beautiful; but I'd be more inclined to stay at BWV just for the convenience.

SSR is pretty much out in the middle of nowhere and is going to take time away from your day to travel. If you want to go back to the resort to rest mid-day, I think you'll find that it takes up a huge chunk more of your time than most everywhere else.

BWV has a lot to offer. There's the boardwalk itself, but also the close walks to Epcot and DHS. You could do MK or AK early in the day, come back and rest at your resort and then hit Epcot or DHS pretty easily at night. Frankly, we really like eating dinner at Epcot, so we spend a good portion of the day at any park, and then come back at night for Epcot...and then walk back to the resort.

Unless the travel time isn't a concern to you, I think you'd be happier at BWV.

Those two choices are about as different as can be!

THV would be nice because you get three bedrooms for the price of two. BWV has the location everyone seems to love, although I found we preferred the larger, more spread out DVC's like OKW and SSR over that location.

For sure the THV are remote but I don't agree that SSR as a whole is in the middle of nowhere. Its near DTD, not a far drive or bus ride to anyplace and its right next door to OKW and the Port Orleans resorts. Funny I never hear anyone complain about the location of the POR resorts come to think of it.:confused3 I never felt like anytime we stayed at SSR or OKW that we spent more time getting around/to and from the parks and other resorts. We take midday breaks each and every day and found SSR as easy to do that as any other resort. And we bussed and rented cars from both of those resorts. I'll also add if you have car, being able to park right outside your unit at SSR is beyond nice, talk about a time saver! The BWV parking lot was not convenient at all and the shared busses weren't much better.

It is nice to be a short walk to the World Showcase for meals if you stay in the Epcot area. On the other hand, its nice to be near DTD and its dining options as well. I also love Turf Club and Artist Palette at SSR, BWV has not a thing to eat right there which just amazes me. On the boardwalk yes and close walks to Epcot and BC/YC. But I didn't like the complete lack of dining options at the resort itself.

I do agree a car is about a must for THV but you have that. And SSR itself has way better pools imho than BWV's two pools.

The pool near THV is good for a dip or to relax by with a book and that's about it, if you have small kids that need the bells and whistles, that pool won't cut it much! But you can easily drive over to SSR and have two feature pools, plus two quiet pools, all of which have hot tubs. But for sure right there, its a shame they didn't do a better job with the THV pool. Cheap and lazy on Disney's part!

I think you can't go wrong. I guess let the DVC availabity gods decide, if you can get into BWV at 7 months then maybe go for it! We enjoyed our stay there very much and were never sorry we stayed there but did realize we love SSR and OKW for the expansive grounds, more pools. We love to walk and explore our resort! But the Boardwalk area is wonderful and the units are recently redone and very lovely.

We have never stayed in the Tree Houses before, but we are staying there in May! :goodvibes We have stayed in the BWV and they are nice, but nothing amazing.... It is nice being close to Epcot, but you are also entering in the World Showcase all the time, which means you have to walk around half the park to get to future world.... I do agree the transportation could be a pain at THV, but as if you have your own car it shouldn't be an issue either way.
Have a GREAT trip whatever you decide!

I am in the same situation. We have THV booked and I wanted to switch to BWV. However, our issue is that we have some family coming along and I think, for privacy, we need that 3rd bedroom. But, if that weren't the issue, we'd totaly switch to BWV.

I have stayed at BWV but have walked around the THV and I think it would depend on your family and the type of vacation you are planning. If you want to relax in a quiet place the THVs look very nice. If you plan to be on the go to the parks all the time then BWV is better.

For us, we have two teenage girls, and I don't like the idea of them walking back to the THVs after dark by themselves. I like BWV because they just get dropped off right where there are a lot of people around and can walk back to the room.

I also like the activity at the BWV at night, so lively! And you can see the Epcot fireworks. Also, you can't beat just walking into Epcot or even the Studios.

So you have to consider your family, your plans, and what would work best.

Last time we stayed at BLTs and it was nice to walk to MK, but my girls didn't like the rooms and want to stay at BCV next time. We plan to be at Epcot and the Studios more next time anyway.

My vote would be for the BWVs. We will be there again in two weeks and just love the entire resort area. We love the convenience to being able to walk/boat to two parks and all the restaurants that gives us to choose from. The villas have all been completely renovated so they are in really great shape and are really nice. We have not stayed at the THV and really have no desire to. Before the BWVs opened we had stayed at OKW and they were too far from everything for our liking. In all our stays at the BWVs we have never heard any noise coming from above/below or on the sides, I don't think I would worry about that at all. The pools are great at the BWVs (I know some don't like the clown but we grew up near a small amusement park that had the same clown at the entrance so no problem for us) and there are activities during the day at the pool also.
