Treehouse Villas Demolition Photos

That's so sad. :( DH and I always wanted to stay there.

Anyone know what is going up in it's place?

wow!!!

so they are being torn down first. So it might be a DVC resort.

with a WDW resort would except them to just rehab the building.

New treehouses, with a smaller land footprint, will be built in their place. As to whether they will be DVC or not, has not been announced. My guess is no, they will not, but may share the check-in area with SSR or OKW..most likely SSR, as they formally used the Villas Resort/Disney Institute check-in area.

I wonder how cost effective free standing buildings would be? And if they were free-standing DVC units, how many points would on of those go for a night.

That is sad. I've always wanted to stay in one. Hopefully what they put in their place will be nice and we'll stay there. I don't really care if it is cash or points.

This does bring a small tear to my eye :sad1: as we stayed in one of these villas in 2001. I almost felt like I was staying at FW w/out feeling like I needed to have a golf cart! They were roomy and out of the way, definitely relaxing just by their location!

I would love to see the updated treehouse villas added onto SSR!

Judging by the previous amenities of the the treehouse villas, I think they'd need to be valued as a GV.

thanks for the pictures!! I'll be there in 2 weeks and I'll swing by and see if I can get more pics ;)

Ahhh, that is sad. Our first trip to Disney in '87 was spent in one of these. They were great. The price skyrocketed after that and then they went downhill.
I have fond memories of peacocks banging on the windows first thing in the morning. Scared the heck out of my sons who were sleeping in the downstairs bedroom!

Fear not...the treehouses are being rebuilt. Same exterior design but with a slightly different interior layout to help get around the wetlands restrictions.

No word on whether they will be a DVC resort but I have to admit my hopes are diminished with every day that passes. The logical approach would have been to incorporate them into the SSR condo association. Making an announcement would have been a great boost for the final point sales at SSR. But now we're apparently within weeks of the SSR sellout with no word on the treehouses' future.

They could make it a stand-alone DVC, but that seems unlikely to me. All of the treehouses are basically Grand Villas, giving it limited appeal for 11-month bookings. How many people would really be interested in booking a GV every single time out? And the dues could be killer with such a small property.

I can't view the photos????!!!!!!!!!!!!

There appears to be a problem at the linked website, it was working earlier. It shows a treehouse villa being torn down by heavy machinery.
