Tree of Life Closed Until Further Notice Due to Structural Problems

I hear that while the Tree of Life is closed, a hot new musical group, "The Animal Kingdom All Stars", will be singing and dancing their way into everyone's hearts in front of the Tree.

Sponsored by the Lowe's Home Improvement garden center. "Never Stop Improving"

It might be a mixed blessing.

ITtBaB is generally NOT appreciated by young children.

When the attraction is back up, I suggest that a parent may want to see the show first,
before taking a young child to experience it.

It is very intense (and extremely LOUD) in several places.
It can be overwhelming for many guests.

I agree, and was going to say the same thing. My kids hated it when they were little and it took them about 10 years before they'd go back to AK.

My dd must just be super adventurous, because I am always puzzled when I read that other kids didn't like ITTBAB. :confused3 We saw it last year (she was 3) and she LOVED it. I'll be sad to miss it in our trip this year if it's not up and running again within the next 2 weeks!

Nah mine were never bothered by it either and my DS was 2 1/2 his first time.

If they know it is all make believe and "Disney made" as we used to call it I don't get what they are petrified of :confused3

My DD didn't like the poke part so she just sat up in her seat when that was coming and problem solved.

Hopefully they can get it fixed fast or put up a canopy to protect people and streamline the line straight in.

Wow! I hope they are able to fix it soon. We did bug's life last trip and had a blast. My 6 yr old at the time loved it and laughed at his older brothers being freaked out by the bugs moving at the end.

we call it "the screaming kids" show. not for a 2 year old (IMO).

darn it all about the closing. I do admit, I sometimes get a little clautrophobic waiting to get in the theater. once inside, I'm fine, but waiting to get is like a cave. and gee, wouldn't be good if the whole thing collapsed, now would it? I'm probably exagerrating, but Disney has to do what is safe.

No fears.....the Yeti repair team is going to get right on this Tree problem. :thumbsup2

Not too many trails actually under the Tree,
compared to far more trails NOT located under the Tree.

That's great! :lmao:

Can they put up a fake tree facade? ;)

My kids are the same way. In fact I think they got a bit bored during the show to be honest. I could understand if maybe they looked like real bugs, then I might be scared but they're CARTOONS... lol...

and OMG, I love the singing group comment. Hilarious!

Not sure if the show is different in WDW than it is in CA. But my 3 year old, who is normally afraid of everything, (even the Pooh ride) LOVED its tough to be a bug. It was her favorite ride. When we went back last year, she begged to go on again. And when I told her we were going to WDW, the first thing she asked is if they have ITTBAB. Must just be my weird kids that love it! :) I am sad it is going to be closed for her birthday trip in a few days. She will be very bummed out. :(

Termites....

Concrete eating termites.
Don't  , they do exist.

"Don't sit under the tree of life with anyone else but me!"

Riddle: The Kilimanjaro Safari driver tells us that the baobab tree (in the middle of the savannah) has leaves only 3 months out of the year. Which 3 months?

(vaguely related) Ceiling tile (also concrete) falls in the less than 10 year old Boston highway tunnel. (A year or so later) Light fixture falls from the ceiling of the same tunnel system and (a month or so ago) millions of dollars appropriated to replace all 20,000 or so light fixtures.

Hopefully they get it fixed soon, but thankfully no one was injured.

Well shoot, I heard they were the Harambe Harmonizers... darn bus drivers misleading me. You'd think you could trust them :cool1:

Hoping it will be fixed by August! I'm not so fussed about Tough to be a Bug but I was hoping to explore the trails and I'm guessing photo ops won't be as great if there's covers etc up while they're fixing it :sad2:

Obviously I'd rather they take enough time to make sure it's safe but still hoping it's done by august :rotfl:

I find it so odd that two major buildings in AK have major structure issues (the other being Expedition Everest - you can't fix the Yeti due to the cracking at her base, and you'd have to take the mountain apart to fix it).

It's probably too soon to go here but:

This is the second major part of the park with a structural problem (the other being the Yeti). Does this raise concerns for anyone else that Disney skimped when building this park, or there was some kind of competency problem with the Imagineers when this partk was designed?

Or, maybe it has to do specifically with settling in that part of the property. Is building on a swamp turning out not to be a good idea?

Edit: Now that I read the branch was only 5 lbs, I'm probably overreacting. ;)

Haha, I didn't read this thread entirely and I posed the same question.
