Tree of Life Closed Until Further Notice Due to Structural Problems

But it helps that their parents and myself have always taught them that things like spiders and such are not scary and they have been exposed to tons of things since they were little.

Also, if they did get scared, we exposed them to their fear again instead of keeping them away like some kids are. Kids do not get over things by avoiding them. I'm always amazed by parents that say, "My kid hates this and that" and then they avoid it for life :lmao: That is not helping the kid. They need to face fears and they grow more confident.

My kids hating and avoiding it had nothing to do with fear. Bugs, real or cartoon, don't scare them. They just physically hated the noise, the poking, the water, the smell...the physical things... If you do not like your chair poking you or getting sprayed the first time, you're not going to like it any better by going back again and again.

I can understand not like being poked and sprayed :lmao:

I was not talking about not liking something because you just don't like/prefer it (a matter of taste so to speak) but because you have deep fear of it. Too many parents say their kids are afraid of something and then leave it at that--it does such a diservice to kids.

Like when you run into a kid (and kids are not naturally afraid of dogs) and they scream and the parents say, "He is SO afraid of dogs" and it makes me mad because they reinforce it--then teach them NOT to be afraid of dogs. Usually those parents do not calmly say, "Look dogs are nice and slowly try to have the kid pet the dog." It is like, "He's afraid and he is going to be afraid forever and I'm just going to let him be afraid and avoid dogs and cry."

WHHATTT?? NO!!!!!!!!!!!

So now no Test Track, no Big Thunder and no Tree of Life/Bug on my trip. *cry*

And yes I know we'll still have a great trip. But I'm just sayin.......
