our lights both inside and out are on timers
they go on usually just as its getting dark and go off around 1 or 2am
even though we are sleeping our street is busy so we leave them on so others can enjoy. also - our big tree is in the front room but we "live" in the back of the house so we have little 2 foot trees in each of the bedrooms (on timers) for just us to enjoy but i do love walking through the house and seeing just the lights on - it's a great feeling.
we don't usually turn them on during the day because our front room is pretty bright and you don't really see them but i've turned them on when it's snowing or very cloudy and darker in the front room.
1 week before christmas and i'm still decorating
