I know the treehouses are still under construction, but does anyone know the resort layout? We have reservations for July and I would like to request a treehouse along the river, but I don't know how far that may be from the main pool, bus stops, ect. Any info out yet? THANKS!

All I can tell you is the Tree Houses are part of SSR. I'm not sure if there is main building just for the tree houses or if you have to check in at SSR and then drive over to the tree houses. I would like to know also because my in-laws want to stay there next year.

There are only a couple with a water view.

I heard last week that transportation may be an issue that they are working on it.

Check in is at the SSR Front Desk.

We were @SSR in Feb. They all seem to sick back by the river and golf course. Not quite sure how transportation will work there isn't a road there yet.I believe all are 3 BDRM.can sleep 9

Just read an article on DVCNews.com that says they are going to have an internal bus service running from 7am - 2am every day that will go between the 2 THV stops and the Springs' stop. So basically, you leave your treehouse, take a bus to the carriage house, then have to get on another bus to get to whatever park you're going to.

I'm thinking of trying to change my reservation at my 7 month window. That's just too much hassle to deal with with little kids.

Yikes! I think this may end up being a big drawback to the THV. We always have a car so for us it is no big deal to drive to the parks except the MK. We always take the bus to the MK.

What about renting a golf cart, could that be an option? They should have that set up like they do at the Fort.

Years ago, before the hurricanes destroyed the treehouses, the buses used to go in there -- we can remember grumbling after getting on at OKW and then swinging into the treehouse bus stop. Of course this was before SSR even existed.

Maybe a bus to SSR will eventually stop there on the way to/from other destinations.

If there is a separate bus that you have to take to SSR, then change buses, I think I'll just plan on walking over.

There is a path from THV to the Grandstand area of SSR.

We just verified this with MS. I will be giving up my treehouse villa next week at the 7 month mark for either BWV, BCV or AKL or possibly BLT. I especially don't like the idea of returning at night only to have to get off the bus at the Springs to get on another bus to go to our treehouse. Let's hope they change this!

When you checked with MS did you also ask if there will be regular buses going into the THV? OKW also has an internal bus but they have all the regular ones too.

I would be under the impression that the internal bus is in addition to park buses.

Well, sharing busses with SSR just seems like a bad idea, unless they really increase the amount of bus service that SSR gets especially during high capacity times of year. When we went in June in 2007 and this past December, there were so many times that, by the time we got to the Springs stop the bus was just packed. I know we're only talking about what another 60? units? (Is that right?) But any increase without an improvement in the service could be bad news.

MS said that the internal bus would stop at the 2 stops at the THVs and drop you at the Springs bus stop to pick up a park bus. He even called Transportation to verify this.

Can you imagine this with strollers or a wheelchair?

Yikes! That doesn't sound good at all But it is still March and they don't open until June. We were down there one year at OKW and in the middle of out trip they decided to change the bus routes - instead of the bus making the rounds of each bus stop if you wanted to go to MK you went to one stop, Epcot was at another, and so on - then you took the internal bus to the stop that you needed. Fortunately the bus stop closest to our unit was for the park we had intended on going to. We sat and waited and waited and waited..... there was CM there with a clipboard trying to see how well (or not) it was working. They finally had to call a bus to come because the stop was packed. By the time we came back to the rooms that afternoon they had signs up that they had cancelled this new system :cool1: So I am hoping (selfishly) that if they do start it out this way that it will be such a disaster that by the time we get there in August it will have changed to regular bus stops. I will be in an ECV and already hate getting on and off the bus in it so would hate to have to do it twice just to get to the parks each day.

I sent a message to DVC Customer Services regarding the Treehouse buses only taking you to a drop off to catch another bus. the reply I received was

"According to Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort the
information on transportation from the treehouses to the theme parks has
not been established yet. As we get closer to opening date we will then
know what the transportation situation will be."

I told them what I had heard, and that I was concerned because I would be using an ECV and didn't want to have to wait twice and load and unload twice, and that if there was any truth to that rumor that i wanted to "lodge a complaint" ahead of time in hopes that it could be changed.

Thanks everyone for all the info....I have faith that Transportation sees the headache of such a bus plan just as we do!! None of us go to Disney for frustration, and efficient hassle-free transportation is an expected necessity.
I will closely monitor the bus issue before we go, hopefully all the kinks will be worked out by mid-July! The kids are very excited about staying in a treehouse, but we have 1 adult who has recently recovered from lymphoma--he will need close-by bus stops (and not Multiple bus stops!). We certainly have come up with many reasons for the bus systems to work easily for all guests--otherwise there will be loads of really unhappy famlies! Let's assume Disney's too smart for that!:goodvibes
