Treated Different on the Dinning Plan

I have never been on any dining plan, but I am considering the DxDP on my trip in January. We also have the DDE (now know as Tables in Wonderland card). I have been reading about poor and rude service from many of the servers. Did anyone feel they were treated this way because they were on the dining plan? Does it have anything to do with tips?

Maybe I should just use my DDE card and forget any dining plan....

I've been OOP with the DDE and without the DDE, I've also used the DDP and we've never been treated differently.

I think that there are good servers and bad servers. In fact, one of my worst servers ever at Disney was probably one of the best servers ever to the family behind us. (Since she spent the ENTIRE time talking to them  ;))

I guess what I am trying to say is that it makes no difference how you're paying. The servers are what they are. Sometimes awesome - sometimes not so awesome.

Regarding tips, we're limiting all discussion of tipping to one thread. Any tipping questions, even how they impact service, can be posted in "The Disney Tipping Info Thread" http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1870320 :goodvibes

Why would they treat you differant? Theyre still working for the tips. They dont care how you pay for the meal

We had great service every meal on our trip in July, except for the server at Crystal Palace. He was not really around and even when he was he seemed to neglect our table. I think that was just that server but not because we were on the DDP. He didn't even ask us if we were on the plan. We told him when we paid. The tip is not included on the DDP anymore, so they are still relying on you to give them a good tip, unless of course you are a party of 6 or more and then it is automatically added.

I was actually happy to see the tip not included in the 2008 plan when we booked it. (This is rare to have someone say this...most people are not too happy that it is no longer included). I felt that if the server knew the tip would automatically come to them they may not work as hard (depending on the person too), but if they knew they had to rely on us to give it to them at our own discretion, they may give us the same service as the customer not on the DDP. Just my 2 cents. But again, I am happy the tip is no longer included.

Even during free dining this year, they were great. When it was free dining and tip was already included, we had one or two bad ones.

Tips aren't included in the dining plan. There is no logical reason for servers to treat anyone differently just because they are on the dining plan.

DDE (formerly Disney Dining Experience, now called Tables in Wonderland) is a discount program for annual passholders and Florida residents. A membership costs $60 (for passholders) for a year and gets you 20% off your full bill at participating WDW restaurants, including alcohol.

If you're concerned about the tips, DDE/TIW members pay an automatic 18% tip no matter how many people there are in the party. Of course when I use the TIW I don't present it until I pay the bill, so how would the servers know I'm using it until then?
