Treasure Hunters??

OK, if the Brown were eliminated last night, why were they in the previews for next week?

I saw that too I thought I was going crazy! I think what probably happened is the grad students dropped out because of the injured knee (I don't recall seeing them in the previews for next week but then they look the same to me as miss usa so maybe they were there) and the brown family took their place.

I think so as well

I enjoyed it and was just howling at the Hanlons last night. I really did expect Ben to be the smart one, but 11 hours in the mine???

It's a good thing they have the kid with them. It is hilarious to see Pat's mind work as he tries to cipher things. :teeth:

Everyone keeps saying it's all creative editing, but how can the Fogal's not be as bad as they seem? :confused3

I didn't mind what the Foguls did on the river - they tried to tell everyone that there was another star right up ahead and get them to keep going but they were all too scared (or forgot how to count!) and insisted on stopping one star early, even though there was clearly a 14th star up ahead. The Foguls tried to convince everyone to keep going, when they did not and refused to listen, the Foguls kept going, as was their right. They tried to get everyone else to follow along. It wasn't like they tricked the others into stopping at 13. They tried to keep them from stopping.

My only problem is all the fake "secret mission" stuff from history that isn't at all true. Such as Luis & Clark being on a secret mission for Jefferson to keep secret from the French... In reality, Napoleon sold the Louisiana Territory to Jefferson and the French had nothing to do with anything after that point. The Luis & Clark expedition was publisized by the press, everyone knew about it, and if there were any secrets to be kept it was from England, who held Canada and disputed the true border between their Canadian territories and the US Louisiana territory - a dispute that would not be settled for a few more decades between the two countries.

Why can't the show stand on its own two feet without lying about history? Oh yeah.. because the producers are used to lying about history (i.e. most of the Da Vinci Code...)

Must have missed it, but I didn't see them try to get the others to stop. In fact, one of the Southie boys said it was the Fogals idea to stop at what they thought was 13 to begin with. I am really confused about what you have here, b/c I did not see that at all.

I like this show. Its ALOT like our geocaching hobby with the puzzle solving, GPS & maps & compass, code solving, using internet to research stuff, finding things. www.geocaching.com

As I remember, they did trick the others into stopping. The Foguls told the Southie Boys and I think Ex-CIA that they may have missed a star and they should stop at 13. They knew they didn't. They then waited for everyone else to get out of their canoe and climbed the bank. Then they announced there was another star and took off really fast. They did this on purpose, knowing they had not missed a star. They talked about it while scurring away. Once they got in the truck, the wife said a 2 sentence prayer, I guess meant to help with their guilt. The father and daughter couldn't even add anything to it. If they didn't do it on purpose, than why didn't they wait for the two teams to get back in their canoes so everyone went together, especially since one of the teams helped carrying their canoe on land. I think one of the Southie boys said it was 9 miles.

We like this show. Again another reality show to make plans to watch. Thanks for the heads up on the encore shows.

Splashmtn99-Geocaching is our favorite thing to do whenever we have spare moments. A great family oriented hobby. :thumbsup2

I don't think we got any previews for next week. I can't see how the one girl is going to keep up but she sure didn't quit and the others didn't make her feel bad good for them.

I don't know if it is the editing or not but they are making that Fogel family look bad. And can't believe the guys were in the mine 11 hours.

I am liking the show don't think I like the host much, like someone said he is like a robot. Do they call him when they find what they are looking for because it looks like the phone just rings.

DH said the same thing, maybe the Grads dropped out.

Thanks

I like it! I'm thinking the same as the others - that the grad students had to drop out. It's a shame because they worked really hard even after she was hurt.

If the Browns are back I don't think it will be for much longer.

The Hanlons are funny - driving for a burger so they could think better. :confused3

Neither the Grad Students/Browns or the Hanlons look like they have a chance given the type of challenges so far on this show. The knee injury on the Grad Student looked to be fairly bad and I doubt that her team can carry her on their back the rest of the way. I would not be surprised to see that team drop out.

The thing that is especially bad about the Fogal family leaving the others is that in this game, unlike Amazing Race, there is no advantage to coming in first. As long as you are not last, you all start out on equal ground. So what was the purpose in leaving the others? All it did was create bad blood. And I don't see how it can be bad editing. They haven't focused on them entirely being evil. They showed the dad stealing the box and then taking the clue out of the girls hand - he absolutely did that- and then they left the others.

I noticed that coming in first thing last night, seems like all these teams are working their butts off to get so far ahead without it doing them much good. But then again AR always has equalizers pretty early in the race so.... :confused3

I am disliking the Fogals more and more with each second :sad2: Wish it were editing, but unless the editors are digitally creating scenes, the Fogals are unfortunately guilty of all their.....behavior.

I was also confused for a few seconds when I saw the Browns in the previews, but there is no way that the Grad students could continue, its a shame really. I bet the producers weren't expecting them to get to the compass before the Browns ;)

I will be seeing one of the Miss USA competitors next week. My one question will be "Are the Fogals, as they appeared to be?" I will post back her reply!

I'm guessing that someone on the film crew with the team knows what the answer is and they contact the host to tell him to contact that team when they get it right. Total guess, though. Because it's obvious that *someone* knows where they're going and what they're supposed to do at least at some of the stops -- like the bus drivers randomly driving until they got the right answer of where to go (now that I thought was a very cool twist on a game).

I can't get the search function to work but does anybody know what the 1st two clues were for the online game?

Actually, my guess is that some crew member sends them a text message of what they need to do and the host stuff was done at a later time.

Anybody know how their internet connections appear to work when they are traveling in a vehicle?

I'm assuming that they have a wireless broadband connection or satellite connection.
