Treadmill in Garage

Hi Does anyone here use their treadmill in an attached unheated garage?

If so, how is it working for you?

Unfortunately we have a wet basement and a small ranch style home, so no where else to go with one. I really need to walk, so my thought was to use a space heater to warm the area before I walk. I was told using in the garage will void the warranty.

Thoughts?

I would just rearrange some furniture and put it inside. If it is that important to you to walk you are going to have to sacrifice some space in your house.;)

How much is this treadmill? I do not think I would risk voiding the warranty. I would have never have thought that would be the case. Very interesting.

It's about 8 degrees in my garage right now- no way no how. *I see you are in PA so I am guessing you'd be just as cold as us.
Our elliptical is in our bedroom. It's hard to blow it off when it's staring you in the face.

We had ours in the living room for a while I can not see myself using it if I had to use the garage ecp in the cold.

I agree with Mystery. My treadmill could not be put in the basement of our last house (odd access to get it in there), so it was shoved in the corner of the livingroom between the couch and a chair.....very tight fit. After we moved, no basement or other available room on 1st floor, so it went in the only space we had available in the livingroom. I have since temporarily moved (still have the other house) and bought another treadmill to go in my tiny apartment. You guessed it. It is in the livingroom. It is a really tight fit and obviously looks out of place, but it serves a purpose.

If I put a treadmill in a garage, out of sight, I would never get on it. That is just me, though.

If you put it in a garage with a space heater, make sure you have some ventilation (depending on what kind of heater).

I was looking at a cheap one from Sears this week under $400 on sale. I mentioned the garage and the salesperson told me about the warranty. I agree with you about not voiding the warranty-I don't want to throw the money away.

My house is very small but maybe my husband will agree to have it up in the middle of the living room. I can't see folding and lifting a heavy piece of equipment every day but maybe it isn't that hard.

I would test the heaviness of the track in the store. My other treadmill is a large model and nearly impossible to lift with one person. My newer model is slightly smaller (same brand), but I never bothered to try the lifting the track. I just found a space in the livingroom that would accomodate the track and left it alone.

If you have never had a treadmill before, take a tape measure with you to the store or ask for dimensions. Those treadmills look much bigger in your house, like most other furniture, than when you see them inside the store.

Thank you all for the quick replies! :)

I think we will have to do some rearranging or just go back to the original idea of going to a gym. We are rural, so I think I am less likely to travel to a gym than use an in house treadmill.
