Travelocity or Expedia ??

Should I go with Travelocity or Expedia. Do both let you choose your seats??

I assume that you are speaking about buying airline tickets? Go with neither. Book directly with the airline.

Agreed. Much less hassle to just book with the airlines directly.

I 3rd that - I use orbitz and travelocity to help search for prices but always book directly with the airline. Most times the prices are the same as on the travel sites.

I like to "own" my reservation, keep track of changes to flight times and seating assignments and the option to make changes if necessary.

For me, the price would have to be significantly lower to book anywhere other than directly with the airline.

Book through the airline's official site. Every single time I have tried to use a 'third-party' to book flights, the price that was listed was no longer available by the time I hit the enter key! Every single time. But, of course there were fares for that same flight at almost double the price!! Yeah, right.
Book with the airline..that way if there are any issues, you can deal directly with the airline.

Absolutely book direct with the airline. I had a nightmare last year dealing with Travelocity after the airline changed the flight time on one leg of our trip, which required changing all our flights. In a nutshell, the Travelocity support people didn't know how to do it, lied to me that they did, and the airline wouldn't do it because the reservations was booked through Travelocity. They kept sending me back to Travelocity. Finally, after a week of calling every day trying to get it fixed, an airline rep took pity on me and changed it all herself. Moral of that story, book directly with the airline.

I would compare prices using kayak.com because it's a search engine, not an agency or reseller, and then click through to the airline (not third party) site to buy when you find a price you like. The only airline it doesn't display is Southwest, but no site does.
