Greetings! As a single parent (newly single) I find myself in a position to be taking the kids to Disney World solo. They are older, 15 13 and 10 so worrying about little ones isn't an issue. But I confess I am a little nervous. I'm travelling from Canada to Florida and a little apprehensive about being in another country with the kids. We have travelled to the world as a family but this is our first Mom and kids trip. Dad was asked if he wanted to share the experience but declined for financial reasons *ahem* (I'm working two jobs)
Any tips from other parents who have taken the trip as a single parent?
Thanks!
Melinda

I'm a single parent and have taken 2 solo trips with DD so far and have another planned for September. I don't really have advice because my DD is just 4 now so my traveling experiences would be very different from yours. But I did want to offer encouragement. You and your children will have loads of fun.

I guess my advice isn't specific to single parent travel, but involve your children in the planning. Find out what are the most important things they want to do.

You can totally do it! My sons are 12 and 15 and we have been going to the world as a three-some for the past 8 years, every year.

It truly is our best family time and I look forward to the next year.

Just be very careful to have the appropriate documentation to leave Canada and enter the USA with only one parent! Not sure what official documents you will need??

You will have a wonderful time! I am just taking my DS12 this year in August(older son had a mom-n-me only trip a few years ago).

going out of country, i always bring a notarized letter saying that DH is aware of your plans to take kids out of country.(we go to Disney this year without DH) I had not had them ask when we did this the first time, but i would have it to be safe. Not sure if the situation is different in separation agreements.

Thank you for suggesting the letter! He isn't happy that I'm taking them, I asked if he wanted to come but he claims he can't afford it  I am working full time and just took a bartending job two nights a week so I could cover the little extras on the trip.
