Travelling to/from Epcot ??s

We will be staying at WLV and taking Disney transportation to MK. We haven't been to Epcot in years but figured it was finally time to introduce the kids a little to it.

Does anyone know a rough idea of how long it takes from MK to Epcot via the monorail?

Also, we have friends staying at BCV who are going to meet us at Epcot and then we were all going to head to MGM for Fantasmic to top off the day.

What is the quickest/best way to get to MGM from Epcot if you are right between the World Showcase and Future World?

This is the first time staying at our "home" WLV. How is their transportation to the parks? Should I use the boat or the buses or just drive? I staid at OKW and thought it was a bit slow.

The bus system is terrific. We love the buses at WLV because there seem to be so many of them, and they are regular.

If you are going from Epcot to MGM, you can either go back to the entrance and take a bus to MGM, or you can walk out Epcot's back entrance, and take the boat over to MGM. If you are feeling feisty, you can walk past the boat and over the bridge to BWV, and take the walkway to MGM. From BWV it's about a 10 or 15 minute walk.

Now, to use the monorail to get to Epcot is long and time-consuming if you are coming from the MK. I would allow an hour, in case you get caught in a crowd. I would rather take a bus, but that's me. The monorail is scenic, though.

I have NEVER had it take that long! Of course, we don't usually travel during high crowd times, but I doubt it has ever taken more than 1/2 hour, and usually less. It does depend a bit on getting on the resort monorail (read milkrun), or express.

We love to take the monorail to Epcot from MK or the WL. When going from WL we just hop the boat to the Contemp, switch to the monorail to TTC and then switch to the Epcot monorail. No matter which way we go, it's never taken an hour!

Be sure and ask to sit in the front.
