traveling with multiples!!

I wasn't sure where to post this, but if any of you Multiple Moms have a suggestion for a good everyday twin side-by-side stroller please let me know. We've been looking and just can't decide. I'm leaning towards the Maclaren Twin Techno. Thanks!!

I did not have this one but friends did and they loved it.....

I have the Combi Twin Saavy and I really like it. My twins are 3 now so we are just about done with the stroller thing. I looked at the Maclaren but I liked the way the Combi folded better.

Hi, I am not sure if I am posting this the right way. But this thread is a great idea!! I have 2 year old triplets, and we will be going back to Disney in April. I look forward to seeing other people's tips & ideas!! :rotfl:

WELCOME WELCOME!!!!!

Fall: I have the Mac Twin Traveller and I love it. It is lightweight and is easy to maneuver and fold.

Mamaoftriplets: I have 21 month old triplets. Barely surviving the temper tantrums, etc. How are you doing?

Kritter: I have heard that SAB is the best. My husband and I just booked a short trip alone for May and I think we are going to stay at BC and check it out.

Hope everyone is having a good day!
Jill

I see that a few families from this thread will be at WDW in April - counting down quickly! We'll be at BCV the 7th-14th. Anyone else?

I am holding up pretty well. I have my days!!! LOL:banana:
I can not wait to go back!! We were just there in Oct.! LOVE IT!
Have you ever tried to take a triplet stroller in? What do you usually use? Kiddos are only 2 yrs.

Thank you very much!! I am still trying to get use to this board, I am a little confused ( it does not take much for me! LOL) I have pretty much only been on 1 other board before (triplet connection) and the set up seems much different. So please don't mind me. If my posts seem ahhhh outta place.?!!

hi mama of triplets...

just wanted to let you know that i have taken my RA the last 4 times we have gone.

mine are now 4 y. o. and we are going in april/may and i'll be dragging along my RA again... i LOVE having it. we drive, so it isn't too much of a hassle to strap it onto the back of the van. we drive to the parks, but it also fits easily onto the monorail (well, not EASILY, but once you figure out how to jockey it into the monorail car, it is quick). we've been staying at the Polynesian the last 3 days of each trip, and it is a BREEZE to get to MK and Epcot from there by monorail (we spend most of our time there, anyway).

not so sure how the RA would work if you had to rely on wdw buses...i would imagine lots of waiting to load the RA into the handicapped accessible spot (if available)??

we took 3 umbrella strolllers with connectors on our 1st trip and i found it to have lots of cons, and only some advantages.

hope this helps,

Thank you. We currently have a Mountain Buggy, BUT I may be selling it, sooo I may not have it in April. The last time we went we took our double & single and it did pretty good. We also drive to the parks, my one concern is if I still have our MB I am not sure if it will be able to fit on the monorail. The MB are VERY wide. The kids are in there I WANNA WALK!!!!! Or as they say WALK ON! MAMA! WALK ON!!!!
SOoooo if we have the double & single we do not have enough hands to hold 3 little hands and the strollers, even if we load the single into the double. AG:eek: HG:eek: ..
Have you ever rented the double strollers? Is it worth it?? Sorry so many questions!!! :scared:

AHHHH I LOVE this thread already!!! Two of my fav. things! My 3 monkies and Mickey Mouse!!! I think I have a new favorite site!!

Have you ever rented the double strollers? Is it worth it?? Sorry so many questions!!! :scared:
mama of triplets,
we have never rented strollers there:

1) i think it would be a pain in the behind to schlepp the kids over to the parks and then wait to get in, wait to rent the strollers, etc.(especially when they were younger and sometimes didn't want to walk, were tired, overwhelmed with the crowds, etc. etc.), and THEN have to get them HOME without a stroller! even now that my kids are 4 y.o., i want the ease of being able to buckle them all in and GO and know that they are safe and comfortable while we get through TTC, security, main gate, etc.

2)we like to get there RIGHT at opening and head right to our main attractions. at 2 and 3 y.o., if we got to any of the parks at opening, we could ride almost EVERYTHING that we wanted to do within that 1st hour...i'd hate to be held up at the front renting

3)we park hop often...again, i like not having to worry about transporting the kids from park to park with no stroller

...i have to tell you, though, my kids LIKE being lazy in the stroller! they do like to get out when they ride the monorail, but since they were 2 1/2, we've had the rule that they stay in the RA until we get on the monorail (with no whining!!) or they stay in the RA the whole monorail ride. we only needed to do this once before they realized we meant business and we haven't had a problem since (well, nothing major, anyway!)

there is another triplet mom here in my town who rented strollers (double and single) when her kids were 2 or 3 and they had no problems with it! i'm just too lazy and too interested in making it as easy as possible on ourselves and the kids to NOT bring the stroller!

as for the size of the MB stroller: i've never even seen one, but i would be very, very surprised if you had a problem getting it on the monorail in the handicapped accessible car. our RA fits into the regular monorail car, and in the HA cars, that middle bar is moved over quite a few inches and the RA has significantly more room. our RA is about 23in. wide (at the widest point), if that info. helps.

when i was questioning if the RA would fit, i posted over on the transportation board. i bet "chip n dale express" (i think that's his screen name) could answer the question of whether it would fit...in fact, i might have already asked the exact dimensions of the HA car a few years back-i'll do a search in a bit to see .

i know wht you mean about loving this site. we had reservations a while back, but i just made our final plans this AM when the AP discounts came out and i have barely been able to get away from the computer. NOW i can do all of the fun stuff like dining, putting together a daily schedule, getting our countdown calendar together (my kids LOVE this..we print out pics. of them at various attractions from previous trips and cover them with paper mickey ears on a poster board. every day one child gets to take off one mickey ears and then we spend ALL day talking about that ride/show/event that they uncovered), etc.

have you ordered the new planning dvd? do you have the disney singalong "disneyland fun" tape? that was GREAT at 2 y.o.!

have fun,

UGH!!! My one daughter has had a fever of 103.8!!! I think the fever might have broken.. I hope soo it was gone before she went to bed. But I still gave her one more does of Motrin for good measure...
Nasty viruses going around.. PLus she has a sinus infection..

Today was the first time one twin went to school went without the other one. It was a good experience for both kids. IT was soo easy to have jsut one kid it seemed weird to have just one kid though!!!!!!!

Thank you sooo much!! I will jump over to the other board to see if they can get me the dims. Have you ever been to the parks in April?? Is there a TON of people?? We have never been there at that time we usually go in Oct. Sooo I am a little nervous of how many people may be there.
We did get the planning video! The kids find like Buzz and stuff before I even see him!! LOL. I do not have the Disney singalong, I have to look into that!! I made my poor kids into Disney nuts!! They just love all the Disney movies!! I can not wait until I can start to do all the poster board stuff. They MAY get the idea of it, BUT I think they will just want to take it apart and stuff. I think I should try see what they do with it!!
I am with you though, I do not want to wait on any lines that I don't want to. So if we do not bring our MB we will bring our double & single.
You are a AP? Do you go to the parks alot? My husband and I were trying to figure out if it is worth it for us to get that.

Have you ever rented the double strollers? Is it worth it?? Sorry so many questions!!! :scared:
On our first few trips we always rented the double stollers - drawback is that you have to leave them in the parks - can't take them on the monorails or other Disney transportation. Our kids were 4 on our first trip so it wasn't too bad walking to the monorail or bus or whatever. But with 2 yr olds I'd think you'd want strollers ALL the time. Other difficulty, esp with any double stoller, can be maneuvering around crowds. If you are going early April (around Easter) when it's real crowded I'd say get into MK and do Fantasyland EARLY - by noon it is stroller gridlock!!!

Has anyone esle ordered the maps that you can have sent to you off of the WDW website they are really cool..Got mine the other day...

for the past 3 years, we've gone to wdw in early may and oct. /nov. the crowds in oct/nov. are less than in the spring, but it shouldn't be bad assuming you'll be there AFTER all of the spring breaks are over (we normally go the first week in may, but this year we'll be there april 27th). we notice heavier crowds on the weekends (true for any time of year, though) in the spring, so we really try to maximize our weekdays. we've been there for the start of the yearly celebrations (happiest celebration), too, and that has made things crazier in the spring, too.

on our first trip (a few weeks after the kids turned 2), my dh got an AP to use the AP discount on the resorts as we had our 5, my parents, and my in-laws, and we all had diff. rooms. this discount alone paid for the AP. we thought that we'd go 2 times during that year while the kids were under 3 and FREE. well, we ended up going 3 times (mid-nov, may, oct/nov). we had SO MUCH FUN on those trips, that about 3-4 mths. after the kids turned 3, i couldn't stand the thought of not enjoying that magic some more while the kids still found everything so REAL and MAGICAL as toddlers (even if we DID have to pay for them!!:goodvibes ) , so on a bit of a whim (a very expensive one), we bought APs for all 5 of us and went in may, this past nov, and we'll be going 1 more time this coming april/may on these same APs.

already at 4, my kids are figuring out on their own who/what is real and pretend, who is just "dressed up in a costume", and what is possible and what isn't realistic in regards to all things disney. i do not regret for one second our decision to spend the $$ on these trips and not other things (well, ok, depending on how my 3 are behaving on some days, perhaps i have moments of internal struggle:eek: )...we have no babysitter, we do not send them to preschool, we don't have lots of new stuff for the house, etc., and the majority of these decisions are based on the fact that we want to spend our money on vacations together.

dh and i traveled a lot before the kids, and we dream of taking them to the places that we loved to visit together or the places we have yet to travel to together:national parks out west, to australia, to the scottish highlands, to the east coast.
realistically, though, most of those places would be VERY difficult to travel to with 3 little ones, not to mention very expensive. WDW allows ALL 5 of us to be happy at the same time, doing the same things together, for a very "reasonable" price (given the quality and quantity of the entertainment and service), almost all day long ...and with three toddlers that is REALLY saying something!!!

so to answer your question , for us, yes, absolutely, the APs were worth it...it is cheaper to get an AP than buy indiv. tickets for 3 8-9 day trips in one year (every 6 mths). in addition to that, we have saved hundreds of dollars on resort costs by getting an AP discount on the rooms that we have stayed at on-property for both us and others travelling with us.

beyond cost, the AP has been worth it for me, as a sometimes overwhelmed SAHM, to have an incredible vacation always "in the works" and on the horizon, kwim?

we really noticed a difference in the kids' attitudes about WDW this last trip when they just turned 4...they were more interested in rides and going on to the next thing, as opposed to every other previous trip when they have just truly enjoyed being in the moment and enjoying the infinite little details of the parks and resorts. we really felt like something had changed, and a bit of that little kid wonder is gone:sad1: we assume that we'll start exploring some of the other amusement parks closer to us over the next few years and visit WDW again in a few years.

take care,

oh, the other thing about taking a triplet stroller is that you get quite a bit of that "freak show" attention that is usually SO irritating, but in WDW, just allows you the opportunity to sail right past the crowds as they step off to the side to gawk (seriously! i never have a problem with people crowding us)....

Ahhh! I guess the one time it is nice to be a freak show!! LOL. If I do not sell the stroller we are going to bring it with us. ( I have someone from the triplet connection who may want to buy it, but they are not 100% sure if they want it yet) Soo in a way I hope she buys it because it will be nice to have the $$ BUT it will also be nice to have the stroller for Disney. I also want to use the money to maybe get the choo-choo wagon.
