traveling with multiples!!

I'm also a mom of twins. G/B turned 4 last week. How time flies. We are also DVC members, home resort BCV when we can get in. We bought it on our 1st trip to WDW with twins they were 7 1/2 months old. We did the 4 day wonder last May using points and are DD in july with points and cash. BTW when were go with family we book their rooms and usually get a discount. It's not publicized and they don't always have it at every resort all the time. My parents paid $185/night studio at WLV instead of $250. It was at Thanksgiving and they couldn't get a FL discount.
I like early May the best for WDW. Epcot has flower fest. DS &DD loved the butterfly garden and the toddler play area with "sand area" (really tiny pebbles). We've been two years in a row. NOT CROWDED at all. Very pretty and perfect temp. Thanksgiving was the worst. Guide books say the week before isn't crowded it was when we went in '04. We went The Sun and Mon before Thanksgiving. It was crazy. (But I've never gone in summer either). The people were wall to wall. Someone told my dad that there were 40,000 people who came through MK in one day. That was at 4:00. When we left at 8:00 pm people were streaming in from other parks. Not to scare you but if you can move around the dates I would. Our family Mom, Sister, etc. has had good luck with Jan, Feb, May, Oct, early Nov, and Early Dec.
One more thing don't go when schools in NJ or NY are out if possible. I grew up in NJ and my sister is still there. Everyone pops down there during the quick breaks (Teachers convention, jewish holidays in the fall, and Presidents day). That 1st trip with twins was planned around my sister and NJ teacher convention. It was crowded (but not like thanksgiving). My sister kept bumping into people she knew. At the pools people didn't ask where you were from but what part of "Jersey" or New York you were from. I'm not exaggerating. We now live in TN and I call my sis and check the dates against their breaks before I book

I just realized that people might take it the wrong way when they read don't go when NJ and NY schools are out. It's not because of anyone whos lives there. I would call the northeast home in a heartbeat if DH didn't work here. (Although TN reminds me of the NJ I grew up in more and more everyday with pumpkin farms and horses in yards) I only say this Because it seems more crowded then and harder to get into places. I'm a planner but I also like to be able to change plans when necessary esp with twins. That 1st trip I had perbooked meals everywhere. But because the twins determined the schedule to some degree and it took longer to move a group of 11 than we thought we weren't always near where our food ressies were. We didn't want to cross WDW just to eat. Anyway more crowded means harder to eat good food spur of the moment even with 4. We also found that we waited longer at places we had PS. Priority Seating isn't a reservation it just means when you show up you get the next table for your size. BTW Germany and mexico are always great places to eat. Germany for lunch. My sis is picky and loves the chicken, potatoes, etc. DH and BIL love the giant beer. It's A/C and there's a band. DS and DD and nephews before them loved dancing on the dance floor while we ate. It's been a tradition since I convinced picky sis to eat there in '97.

OK so we are back from the specialist and it is more of the same news.

Kori's L eye has ambylopia and myelinated nerve fibers. So the good news is that there is no physical abnormality that will need surgical repair, the not so good news is that we have now ordered glasses and will go back in 6 weeks to start our vision therapy/patching. She is legally blind in that eye with out correction. Now we just have to wait and see if when she puts on the glasses if her brain will recognize the images.

I went all over our town today trying to find a in network provider for her glasses. Most of everyone didn't have frames that would fit- they had baby frames and then big kid frames none in between. Finally I found some for her on the clearance table at one place- leave it to me to only find them on sale. But anyways I ended up getting 2 pairs on glasses lenses and all with warranty for $77.00. So I was very proud of myself. She looks so cute. Her actual glasses won't be in for a few days. I will post a picture when we get them.

As for our Disney Trip I think we are going to try to go ahead and go. I think we could all use the vacation even if we are going to have to cut the budget for the trip again. We have a room with a kitchen so I think we will be ok to eat in our room a couple of evenings.

Thanks for the PD and thoughts it was appreciated!

Ki.....glad to hear you are still going on your trip, sounds like you all need it!!!!

I have a Mommy brag.....my 13 1/2 twin girls (young ladies) found out yesterday that they made the 9th grade track team in the long distances. This is a big deal because they are in the 7th grade. They will be doing the 75m hurdles in the 7th and 8th grade track meets. I wish it would warm up though, I don't look forward to a track meet next week when it is only 27 out!!

I have fraternal girls born in Jan of 1998. We first went to wdw when they were almost 6. They did very well, though I still brought the dbl stoller and used it alot. We are now planning a trip in May of 07, and have booked the pool villa already. I'm very excited. If anyone else is going around that time please contact me. I'm a single mother and certified nurse-midwife. Kimberly :cheer2:

We'll be there May 17-25, 2007! We're planning on staying at the VWL, but that's still TBD!

Welcome everyone - so nice to know so many of us have multiples!

I realized I didn't give any info on my last post. I went to 36 wks 1 day. Delivered by CS. Babies were 5 # (G) and 5 # 4 oz (B). No real complications during pregnancy except I developed PUPP a rash in my last trimester. It occurs in 1/2 - 1% of pregnancies. They said mine was worse then most because of two placentas. Imagine poison ivy on 90% of your body and it was worse.
Pea-n-me I was truly moved by your post about the snowflake program. What a incredible gift you have given that family. :)

We still will have a family party on Sat, their big kid party was on SUn. they had a blast, we had it at one of the indoor gym centers so thankfully no mess at home

You think the first 4 went fast, once they start school it goes even faster. My girls turn 12 on Monday, 3/27, while we're on the Wonder, and my "baby" will be 9 in April. The twins now officially have bigger feet than I do, and if the MD is correct, by the time they are done growing will be 3 inches taller than I am, and I'm 5'8"!

My youngest is wise beyond her years, and serves as the fashion police for the household. She "supervised" my packing for this trip to make sure my clothing choices were appropriate! Can hardly wait until she's a teen.

We're off tomorrow for WDW and the Wonder. I'll be sure to post when we get back. I know there is a set of fraternal twin girls that will be in the Kid's Club with DDs. DH met them on the Cruisemeet Forum.

I also ended up getting the PUPP. That was the most miserable couple of weeks for me. It finally went away when I had the twins!!

We'll be there on the 19th through the 26th. I've only been to wdw the second wk of Dec. I hope it is nice and uncrowded, even though memorial wkend is coming. We'll be traveling with a classmate of the girls' and her parents. I hope your twins are feeling better. We had a few days before the holidays and have (knock on wood) avoided all the rest of the viruses/bugs so far this season. A nasty epidemic of chickenpox is flying through their school, and though they were vaccinated the health dept. states it only gives 30% absolute immunity so I'm anxiously checking for spots all the time. I'm glad there is a multiples thread, it is fun to hear from and see all the twins.
