Not sure if this is where this topic should go, feel free to move it..... I want to take some jewelry with me to WDW, how do you keep your necklaces from tangling while traveling. Do you have any tips on how to pack them?? I just picture one huge knot when we get there!

Everywhere I travel, I take jewelry. I went to Bed Bath & Beyond and they have a travel jewelry organizer. They have two different ones. A small one is I believe like $10 and the next size up was $20. They both have hangers attached so you just unroll them and hang them in the closet when you get to your destination. Has pockets for everything. And the one I bought is double sided so both sides have the same number of pockets.

Got a good one for ya, say it on TV...
Take a hand towel, lay it flat, lay out your necklaces straight one by one not and then slowly roll up towel...put a few rubber bands around it and when you unroll they are perfect...:goodvibes

I don't bring jewerly to the World, or make-up for that matter. It's actually very "freeing" to go jewel and make-upless for a week! Not sure how other people feel looking at me with no make-up :scared1:, but it is a nice change of pace not to have to worry about it.

In any event, if I did bring jewelry, I'd do this. I sell jewelry and when we do shows, we pack the neclaces and other items in this manner.

Good luck!

I like Despina's idea but I'd go one step further. Instead of a towel I've read of a tip saying use a T-shirt. (they say to roll your t-shirts to prevent wrinkles anyway)

It's a good idea to make sure your necklaces and any other pieces you are travelling with, or atleast the ones that aren't "costume jewelry", are insured...unfortunately it's very common for jewelry to come up missing from hotel rooms while the guests are out for the day. Working in the jewelry business, I've seen alot of upset people that this has happened to. Doesn't matter if you're at Motel 6 or the Ritz.

I tend not to take necklaces with me to the world, as I don't find a need for them. I'm more of "Can't Live Without Earrings" girl. However, at the Dollar Store you can purchase a travel jewellry box that has different compartments for different sized things. If you put one necklace into a compartment you shouldn't have a problem with them getting tangled. It's flat so it packs easily.

If you are travelling to WDW with valuable jewels in the first place, you're just plain nutz. But if you must, then every WDW resort room has a safe. Use it.!!

I love the post above mine and I agree, I only bring my nice looking fakes. & there is a safe for a reason!

I use the bead organizers containers. They are round and connect to eachother and I use paper towels instead of a hand towel, because it's not as thick. I hae the large size jars. You can find these bead organizers at any craft store & walmart:

Also, really think about what you want to wear and try to fit jewelry pieces into your outfits that you could wear multiple days with diferent outfits. I really don't bring a lot jewelry and I wear the pieces a few times. only one necklace next time around...scary lol :cutie:

I'm only taking a couple necklaces, that aren't worth much ...just cute. As far as jewlery of value, the only thing of value I bring on vacation are my wedding rings and those stay on my fingers at all times.

I use a small (5X7) divided see thru craft box for my jewelry....with a rubber band wrapped around it. They sell them for $1 at the craft stores to old beads or cross-stitch floss. The compartments are just the right size for earrings or a necklace or two. I also have a couple of ankle bracelets I like to wear in the summer and they fit fine too.
Nothing expensive mind you.;)

Someone shared this with me before a cruise: For thin necklaces, thread them through a drinking straw and fasten the ends. For thick, use a paper towel tube. (cut either as needed). Best CHEAP idea ever.

For vacations like WDW, I don't usually bring more than 1 or 2 silver choker-length necklaces that go with everything.

Ziploc bags work great! You can get 2"x2" or 3"x3" bags from most retail supply stores, bead stores, craft stores, or stores that sell shipping supplies. 100 bags cost less than $3 and you'd be surprised how useful these little guys are! You can also use them to keep meds dry at the waterpark. I sell jewelry at gift/trade shows and this is how I transport my goods.

This is exactly what I do and it works perfectly.

Be very careful with packing your jewelry in your checked baggage. My family has had a bag stolen from the airport when they went on vacation and the only things stolen from their luggage was my grandma's jewelry and my aunt with Down's Syndrome's dvd player and dvds. The airline told them that the only thing they won't cover is electronics and jewelry. :confused3

So the moral of this story is to pack it all in your carry on!! :thumbsup2

My mother in law found me something like this, I don't know where you'd find it, but I absolutely love it:

http://www.chinabagsdepot.com/Trave...-Cases/Drawstring-Jewelry-Pouch-154155148.htm

It's a little drawstring pouch, which has little pockets along the inside for earrings/necklaces, whatever you want. I use it now everytime I travel.

I've seen these for very cheap (like .99) on ebay. The ones I've seen are usually made in very pretty silk patterns and are from Chinese sellers. They have not only the round ones, but rectangular ones that roll out and have separate compartments and a ring roll in the center. I have one of the rectangular ones in a very pretty emerald green silk pattern. I paid .99 plus like $3.00 shipping and got it here from China in about two weeks. It fits easily into my personal item for the flight and in the safe once we get to the resort. It looks like this, but is a dark emerald green:

Here's a round one:

Vera Bradley also makes a small travel size jewelry case. Again they're alot cheaper on ebay. I have the old soft version, but don't use it much. It's this style, but red:

YEP. The very first rule of air travel: NEVER, ever, ever pack anything of value in your checked luggage. So if you're daring enought to bring valuable jewellery to WDW in the first place, be sensible and pack it in your carryon.
I wouldn't dream of packing anything in my checked luggage that I couldn't replace right there at the airport.
