we plan on plaing some golf at wdw,and iam bringing my clubs,i know there is a 50lb limt but with my full set i do not know if it would go over that?,has any one brought there clubs with them, how was it checking them in?.i admit that i have never weigh my clubs but there pretty heavy with everey thing in....any help thanks

We bought a travel golf bag that you put your clubs in and you can use as a bag on the course -- you leave your golf bag at home. This saved on weight, but we pack the shoes and some golf balls in our luggage. We have never been over 50, but its been close! I would imagine that if you packed a "big golf bag" and all the clubs, balls, shoes, you would probably be overweight.

We have traveled many, many times and have always taken our own golf bags inside a travel golf bag and have never had to pay extra. I never heard of traveling without your own bag. We pack bag and all in the travel case.

One watch out I do want to mention is that my DH got a hard case once, thinking it would be better. Well that darn thing would not fit into the rental car without taking it apart. That was the last time we traveled with it.

The bags we purchased are circular, hard plastic. They are intended to take the place of your golf bag while traveling. We also have the hard plastic bag on wheels that you can put your bag into, but we prefer the circular bag. Its one of the newer models at the pro shops here. Some of the men's leather golf bags are huge...and very, very heavy. It all depends on the type of bag.

Last time I checked NWA's policy on golf bags was 1 bag with a full set of clubs a dozen balls and shoes in a club travel bag was an allowable second piece of luggage. I assume most airlines have similar "sports equipment" types of rules.

DW and I travel quite frequently with our clubs to both WDW and other golfing destinations. To date we have never encountered any airline issues. We both have Club Glove Last Bag travel bags. We usually pack our clubs (in our normal golf bag), a couple dozen balls, golf shoes, rain gear and sometimes a small amount of golf clothing in the Club Glove. We have not had an issue at airline check in yet.

I travel to Myrtle Beach every year with a group of guys from Boston. Never had an issue with weight of golf bags. We pack all of our clubs (14 as per the legal limit), 2 or 3 dz balls, at least ( I never said we were good golfers !), golf shoes, rain gear, and anything else that will fit. One of our guys even packed a bottle(fifth) of Mt Gay Rum in his bag one year ! I'm not entirely sure the 50 lb limit even applies to golf bags, but you could always call the airline to check. Have fun !!:thumbsup2
