Traveling Turkeys Part 2 11/22/08

Below is an email I received today from someone on Grand cayman. Thought you all might be interested in hearing the good news.

Michael

"Grand Cayman is fine. Cayman Brac has had catastrophic damage, with 90% of roofs damaged. I think they will evacuate all elderly and children over here, where most people have relatives. The island has a population of 1,200.

I took my grand-children for a drive this morning to check out the beaches where I do weddings, all beaches are fine, and the beach crews haven't been out with the machines to sweep the beaches yet, because today is a public holiday.

Shops are open and there is at least one cruise ship in port. Everything will be fine for your renewal.

Looking forward to seeing you soon."

Great News Michael!!

Does everyone have their docs? I had better hunt mine down! I just realized that we still don't have them.

Don't worry they will either track them and locate them or make you some new luggage tags. We had to have them made at the port one time. Just do the online check in and you will not need the big bulky book.

Hello again from a fairly quiet Monday afternoon at DVC VB...although this place is close to being full...the weather has once again cooperated today with the high about 80 and not a cloud in the sky....sure hope we get this weather in two weeks....dropping Mason off for the 5-8 kid's club again so we get to enjoy a peaceful dinner, and besides he would rather be w/kids than sit thru a long dinner w/us.

Thanks for rubbing it in.....we are in the low 50's here in NJ and cloudy.

Enjoy!!!

One thing I am very excited about is that I paid $1.99/gallon for gas yesterday, :yay:

Judy--I don't milk anything! No cows, no pygmy goats, no nothing!:rotfl: In fact, the barn grosses me out. I'm not much of a farmer's wife, am I?;)

Chuck--I had to laugh when I read your post. I thought you were taking Mason to a 5'8 club!:lmao: I thought, "Wow! Mason is pretty darn tall for a 9 year old!" It's been one of those days, and I am blonde.:rolleyes1

I have a turkey now!!!! Thank you.:thumbsup2 Or at least it better be there when I hit send.:rotfl2:

Actually, the kid's club did not work out too well tonight...only one person signed up, and Mason was not thrilled about being that one person...so he joined us for dinner back at Mr. Manatee's...now both Lisa and Mason have T-Shirts w/the Mr. Manatee mascot, a manatee of course, on them.

Lisa and Mason are also back at the campfire this evening...while i conceed some of the singing is a bit too kitschy for me, I also am not a big fan of S'mores, but they are...I know, I can be branded a heretic, but while I like chocolate, I do not eat much of it.

That said, it has been a nice trip...we check out about noon tomorrow...but we are likely to return in the future...

Chuck:cool1:

And seeing the other post, Mason is actually about average height and very thin...at his recent checkup, 50 inches and 50 pounds....but it is anticipated he will grow since I am 6'8" and Lisa is about 5'11"....and i grew late....at age 13, I was only 5'2", but 3.5 years later, i was 6'7"..

If you have to buy gas while you are in Central Florida you will be VERY excited. It is slightly cheaper here.

That happened to our friend that was there a few weeks ago. her DD did not want to be the only one until she was told that there was going to be a treasure hunt and she would get all the treasure to herself:banana: nothing like a counselor that bribes kids with treasure

I would think that Mason would most definitely end up being rather tall since both you and Lisa are so tall. I'm not sure my kids stand a chance at being tall--just probably average height. I'm 5'6, and my DH is only 5'10. However, my mom is tall so there may still be some hope for Brianna and Brandon.:) Glad you've enjoyed Vero Beach. It sounds great! I'm so ready for next week!

Hi All!

Thank you so much for your warm thoughts. We've accepted the fact that Zazu is no longer with us and most likely passed on due to a heart attack. We'll be purchasing a new bird once the trip, party and holidays are over with. My dd felt comfort coming here to read your postings.

Now for my BIG OOPS of the day.....I was putting together 150 programs for the Bat Mitzvah service and was stapling the last remaning 5. Well I happened to look at the program cover and noticed a slight mistake. I spelled the Rabbi's name wrong!! OK...now I could have ust inserted an "l" on ever cover but it's not my way. So I had to toss them all out and run them off again. We finally finished them up a half an hour ago!

So I just have 1 more centerpiece to make...the sign in board has a few more kisses to put on it. (It's a chocolate theme and the sign in board has my dd's picture in the middle of it with Hershey Kisses all around it for people to sign. (Title being...Give a kiss to Rebecca...Get it?!?) Place cards are done... waiting for the favors to come in so we can wrap those up before the trip...

All in all I've been pretty productive here and just need to finish up a few things. I definitely think I WILL be a drinker once on board and might actually be able to keep up with a few of my friends!:cool1: OK ...that's pushing it a bit! :lmao:

Have a good night all!!
Hey..did anyone catch that Giants game last night???:woohoo: :cheer2:

It's the case of the disappearing tickers.:lmao:

Michelle I can't seem to get it all to fit in. Our smiley chins have been disappearing for a while.:rotfl2:

Good Morning!
Suzanne - Did you make a pact with Susan to be the most productive people on the planet? You both put me to shame! Did you watch "Worst Week Ever" last night? The main character had his wedding programs printed and spelled the minister's name wrong!
It's cold here today. I wish I was in Florida in the warm sunshine! It won't be long now.......:beach: :sunny:
I gave Tim the figures for the 7 day WDW trip including the special rates. His comment was "If you book it, make sure it's not during my reading camp." No argument, no struggle, no complaint, nothing! So I guess I need to figure out the details and book!!!! He and DS do prefer WDW to the cruise. Go figure!
Have a magical day. Make good choices. Be kind.
