Traveling Turkeys Part 2 11/22/08

Cruisecrzy, I know you've post this before but I need to know when formal night it. My DD wants to wear her formal dress on her b'day which is Tuesday. I'm thinking that is not formal night. I might need to come up with 2 formal dresses.

While I'm at it which late dining time do I want if I want to be in Parrot Cay for pirate night and Lumeres (sp) for formal. Is that possible?

Thanks, Laura

Assuming things haven't changed since our last cruise 2 years ago, Formal Night is Monday, Pirate Night is Wednesday, and SemiFormal Night is Thursday.

If I'm not mistaken, I think Pirate Night is on Tuesday this cruise, right?

Speaking of drinks.....what is everybody's favorite drink? Just curious?

I'm going see if I can get a bartender to make me this drink. We went to Charlie Browns and they have this drink called Voodoo Juice and boy it is yummy, so I asked for the recipe.

Pineapple Juice
Cranberry Juice
OJ
Coconut Rum
Pineapple Rum
Banana Rum
Mango Rum
and mix it all together. It taste like a fruit punch.

Water! and sometimes I shake it up a bit and put it on the rocks!:disrocks:

Maybe one night we can torture the bartenders by having them make up all our own specialty drinks. My friends and I created one called the "Flaming Eyeball." It's named that because one of the friends says when she drinks alcohol it makes her eyeballs flame. So I made sure to make a drink she likes that not only makes her eyeballs flame, but has flaming eyeballs (cherries) in it.

It's made from amaretto, vanilla vodka, and pineapple juice with a splash of grenadine and 2 cherry eyeballs. It tastes very much like pineapple upside down cake.

Just another party in the making . . . . Count me in. THe last cruise, we had to teach the bartender to make a black and tan . . . so sad.

Boy! I missed one day on the DIS and that equated to multiple pages! It took me quite a while to get caught up on my reading tonight! I guess when you're only about a week from sailing, you ought to be posting on the DIS, huh?

Lora--your post about being drunk made me laugh out loud! Good luck with that! I was actually laughing and when I told my DH why, all he was interested in was Amtrak. He wanted to know if we could take Amtrak to Florida. I just kind of ignored him.:rotfl:

I am going to be busy, busy, busy getting things ready this weekend. I wasn't going to start packing until Wednesday night, but now I'm all stressed that it might just make me impossible to be around if I wait until the last minute. My family might want to go on vacation without me if I do that, so I think I'm reconsidering. My house needs cleaned and I have LOTS of laundry to do this weekend. Ugh!

Can't wait to see the shirts. I was planning to have my family wear theirs to the port. What is everyone else doing?

Susan

Oh, my... teaching a bar tender to make a black and tan. My dh would die!

Shay and Teresa, both of your drinks sound sooooo yummy. When you decide to go torture a bartender into making them for you, let me know. I'd love to join you. We could just have them make a pitcher, or two, or three!

Judy, I am feeling so bad about your pick up time. Since all these lushes plan to drink all the booze, do you want me to pick you up a little something at the liquor store? And did you say you had the navigators? Was there more than one tequilla tasting listed? Maybe we should decide now, if there is more than one, what one we would like to do?

I think I'm mostly packed not only for the cruise, but for our week end trip too. (I'm taking my dd to see The Little Mermaid on Broadway tomorrow night.) And have clothes ready for school for next week. Needless to say, all I have done all day is wash clothes, iron and pack. I'm DONE!

Night,
Shell

I need to go back and look at emails from my husband to help you figure out the dining rotation. Let me do that now before I forget. Because Pirate night is apparently scheduled for Tuesday I do not think it is possible. On the Eastern it is the PLA rotation that gets you that. Off to get the info you want.

8:15pm seating will be as follows APPLAPL

8pm rotation is as follows LAAPLAP

So 8:30 PLLAPLA

***of course I make no gurantees that that is what it will be in 9 days, but that is the info I have.

Assuming things haven't changed since our last cruise 2 years ago, Formal Night is Monday, Pirate Night is Wednesday, and SemiFormal Night is Thursday.

Several people emailed/called DCL to confirm pirate night is Tuesday for our sailing. i checked again last week and it was still listed as Tuesday for our sailing and one in December.

Judy sorry about the AKL bus thing. I did cringe when I saw the email. the goodnews is you can sleep in after a late night at the Magic Kingdom. :)

Speaking of late nights must get some rest....tomorrow night is our monthly girls night "cards" game and that WILL be a very late night since we are celebrating me getting to go on a cruise and a few more getting to go in 2 more months.....any excuse to fire up old Bessie (aka the Margarita or anyother icey drink machine)

OK just got back from the Hurricanes game and what a battle, but we beat Va. Tech for our 5th win a row...GO CANES!!!!

Now to log onto World of Warcraft while I digest the snack I just ate..

GOOD MORNING!!!
Michelle - A great big thank you for getting all of the dining info. I was wondering also and your info was a big help!

I'm going to make DH and DS wear the t-shirts to port on Sat(I'll wear mine too). You'll see us. We'll be the LAST ONES BOARDING THE SHIP!!!! ARRRRRGH.pirate:

Have a good day.
Make good choices.
Be kind.

Chuck - Step away from the game! Actually, I understand. Many years ago there was a game called "Panzer General" and I would not stop until I had world dominance!

Good morning. Nothing other than to say than one more week!!

Hello all,
We're family of three, DD is 6 yr old and next week will be our first Disney cruise.

I have couple of questions:
Do you know what will the weather be? Do I need to pack up some jackets/sweaters? Do you know if the water at the beach will be warm enough?

I also read some suggestions to bring some water bottle. Does DCL provide drinking water at the soda fountain? I'm thinking to just bring a water bottle and could fill it up onboard.

Thanks!

OK, I'm having a mental lapse this morning. :upsidedow Where, when and how do you sign up for the wine and other alcohol tastings? Is it at guest services? Do we need to do that right away when we get on the boat? Sounds like the line may be all lime green!!
Have a great Friday.
Lorie

I just saw the 10 day forecast for Orlando.

Friday 11/21 Sunny high 68 low 45
Sat. 11/22 Sunny high 66 low 46

that's a little chilly for me, I was hoping it to be warmer.

Wine tasting, beer tasting, etc....you sign up for it at Guest Services.

Once we leave the port area, we will very quickly be in sub-tropical waters and will stay there for most of the trip...thus, while I suggest bringing a sweatshirt or windbreaker as the deck of a moving ship can get a bit gusty at times, the weather should be quite nice.

As to the water, for anyone but Floridians, the temperature should be quite nice...for those of us who are used to bathwater temperatures, it is sometimes a bit chilly.

As to water, you can bring sealed bottled water onboard...I suggest a soft-sided cooler, but NO ICE.....alternatively you can buy the somewhat overpriced "water package" and you can get water, but not bottled water, at the deck 9 drink station.

We just bring water bottles and fill them up. We do not mind the ship water. If you are particular I recommend you carry your case on and not check it in.

As for water temp as Chuck said it is sort of personal preference. We have gotten in the water every November we have sailed. I would bring a light jacket since it does get chilly on deck as the shipis moving.

Judy I think you will be far from the last to board.....I always feel for the people who fly in on Saturday.

Happy Friday all!!

Chuck,

Do you find the water temps at GC and Coz to be a bit warmer than at CC? My thoughts are the temps down there were warm enough to generate a CAT4 hurricane, so it cant be that cold south of Cuba. Now CC, thats another story.

GC and Coz were definitely warmer than CC, but they are also farther south.

:cheer2: I am having a hard time working I am so excited about this trip and I still have so much to do to prepare......

Thanks Judy. It looks like tequilla is Mon and Thurs. Anyone have a preference? I think Monday would be a bit better for me, but I'll go along with whatever the "group" wants to do. If I remember right, it was early afternoon.

WE GOT OUR SHIRTS!!!! Thanks sooooo sooooo much, Cindy. They look so cute. The kids can't wait to wear them. Dh, well, he'll wear it! I think we'll be wearing them to the port too. Still not sure what we'll be wearing to MVMCP, but I'll keep you posted for anyone wanting to meet up on the Tomorrowland bridge (for fireworks).

Cindy, I'll get your money in the mail in the morning. Thanks again!
