We will be traveling from east Tn (Knoxville area) in a couple weeks... can anyone recommend a clean, somewhat comfy hotel we can stop at halfway. It doesn't have to be exactly halfway but any suggestions that I could look into would be greatly appreciated. Any one had any luck out there with a clean, fairly inexpensive hotel that is good for a restful night? No need for pools, etc.. :goodvibes

I could recommend either the Sleep Inn in Valdosta, Georgia or the Fairfield Inn in Macon (along the I-475 bypass). These, however, are either a little too far north (Macon) or south (Valdosta) to be ideal for a "half-way" stop. The Jameson Inn in Perry, Georgia is a bit closer to the midway point, but I haven't stayed there in a couple years. Its a step below both the Sleep and Fairfield both in price, and not quite as nice, though I've never seen a bad Jameson Inn.

I think we stayed at a Hampton Inn in Lake City FL. It was about 21/2-3 hours from WDW and worked out good for us. We were traveling from Kville also.

So then after your stay at the Hampton Inn, how long did it take you to get back to k-ville? Didi you stay at this hotel both arriving and leaving WDW? I am trying to find the best route for us... thanks so much.

We drove down from IL, and although we did not stop overnight, we did stop in Tifton, GA for dinner. The hotels along the highway there and in Valdosta appeared to be nice. Again, we didn't stay in them, but it seemed like a nice area. I believe there was a Country Inn and Suites that we had considered if we wouldn't have driven straight thru.

I drive from Knoxville 3 or so times a year, while we don't stop(10/11 hrs), Perry, Cordele and Tifton look like nice safe interstate areas. My parents had an accident on the way here(no one hurt) and had to stay overnight to fix the 5th wheel, they stayed at a hotel in Byron(comfort suite I think) said it was clean and comfy, plus it was pet friendly.
