With all the roads being closed down for the Marathon...would it be best to go into Epcot in the am and take the monorail over? or will the roads be open and fine for traveling? I'll be staying in the Boardwalk.

Hm...I will say that when I tried to take the bus last year on marathon Sunday for park opening to Epcot, it was chaos. Since you're at the Boardwalk, I would honestly suggest walking through Epcot and taking the monorail over. However, Epcot will also be crowded b/c the runners run through World Showcase for a bit. Still think that's the best route to go though.

What time?

If you are looking to spectate on Main your better bet is to take the first marathon bus after they restart and then monorail over. If you need to be there earlier than 7:40 ish then a cab to TTC and monorail up is the best bet.

If you are looking to be there for park opening, I would still do the above. Park opens at 9 so catching a marathon bus at 8ish should put you at MK at opening.

Note that the marathon bus drops you in a parking lot approx 4 parking sections away from the monorail station so there is a small walk.

If later you can walk through Epcot and monorail up. Note it will require a park hopper or annual pass to go to two parks in a day. International gate will open at Epcot park opening at 9 am.

Traffic from to TTC is not all that bad if taking a cab. I would not plan on driving past the TTC cut off. If you want to drive a car you can park in the MK parking lot. There may be a couple delays but not too bad.

I would not plan on taking Disney Transportation pre-9am. The road up through the Contemporary and the MK bus stop is horrendous.

Hope this helps

I'll have the annual pass...so heading into Epcot and then taking the monorail over would work out fine. Thanks for the idea on the crowds. After running the half on Saturday, I don't know if I'm going to want to get up early and head to MK...it's definitely food for thought though!

Thank you!
