Traveling to DLP: mom and two kids

yes yes yes, we're planing our second trip. DLP - we come in March or April. YAY

And here's the big question. I'm thinking about taking both DSs to DLP. One will be 6,5 at that time and the younger 3 and a bit.

First of all I'm still not sure if it is fine to take the younger one. It might be too difficult for him, he might get tired, scared and so on. And the queues... Oh, and his day nap...

And the - how am I gonna do the rides? Most of them are for 2, this means I should leave one of kids behind and ride twice. But can I leave my younger DS alone?

and it seems unfair to leave him at home once again.. but on the other hand...

So, there.. Any thoughts on this?

You won't be able to leave the youngest whilst you go on the rides with your eldest. The only options would be is go with another adult or leave the youngest at home until they are older to be able to go on the rides. Your eldest is at an age where they can go on some of the rides on there own, so you could queue with them & then wait for them to go on the ride.

Most rides fit an adult and 2 small children; Peter Pan - they could sit in the front, Dumbo, Tea cups, Buzz, Phantom Manor and BTM. Obviously it would depend on bravery levels!! If you're staying on site then a nap wouldn't be a problem or hire a stroller and he can have a nap in there.

I think children have to be aged 7 or over to ride solo at DLP don't they? Isila you wouldn't be able to leave your 3-year old anywhere so you could ride with your older child, and to be honest I wouldn't think of doing it the other way around either (ie you ride with your 3-year old while your 6-year old waits somewhere for you). Theres simply no safe way of doing this. So you ride with both of them at the same time and forget about the rides your 6-year old could go on but your 3-year old can't. Most rides which are suitable for 3-year olds you can ride as a family (ie more than 2 on the ride/per car etc).

If your 3-year old needs daily naps, you'd have to work around this and consider what your older son could do while younger one is sleeping in his stroller - ie take him to the Pocahontas/Pirates playground, or to Videopolis to watch cartoons etc.

we just went 3 up on the rides and if someone didnt want to do one - none of us went on (apart from when I forced DD2 into going to see the Lion King which she proceded to sleep through). It was hard going being on my own but I am going back again in October - the last 3 trips I have had someone else with me but going solo with the girls again this time - they will be 8 and almost 10 so should be easier to deal with!

so I'm thinking about leaving him back home again. I'm feeling a bad mom for doing this

We would do Peter pan, teacups, smallworld style rides. No BTM that's sure... But still.. I'm being egoistic and do think about myself - I doubt I can survive DLP with two little kids

anyway, still got time to think about it. We haven't decided on dates yet and haven't made any booking.

Travel for whole family is expensive....

But still - we're going back in March or April 2012
