Opened June 2000, The Belfry is Waterford's newest city centre hotel. Located just off the quay, this friendly, family run hotel has 49 luxurious en suite guest bedrooms that include executive and superior rooms, and rooms specifically adaped for thedisabled. An excellent restaurant, stylish designed split - level bar and an elegent conference/ meeting room complete the facilities at the Belfry Hotel. Adjacent to the city,s premier shopping area and surrounded by local amenities.
Egan's, which was one of the first pubs in Waterford to serve food, today has a full carvery lunch menu, and a reasonable and informal a la carte menu in the evenings. Entertainment is usually available at weekends and coach parties are welcome.

Then we can pub crawl over to here:

The Olde Stand Bar & Restaurant is situated in the heart of Waterford City. With two atmospheric bars on the ground floor, and a superb bar and restaurant upstairs. The Olde Stand has a prized reputation for its fresh seafood and delicious steaks served in comfortable, nostalgic, Victorian surroundings. An excellent & varied bar menu is served 7 days a week.

Definitely a spot to visit in the South East.

Thanks guys. Oooh Ed, very nice. Much nicer than what dh got me. Flowers do die. Cheers everyone!!! Loved the tour. Who knew what's involved.

Hey no problem, anything for an excuse to do a pub crawl in Ireland.

Did you do anything special for your big day - other than get flowers?

Not really. My best friend from high school was in town from California and last night was the first time we've gotten to sit down and talk for about 3 years!! So, had a nice dinner out with her. I think I'll save my '55' celebrating for Chef Mickeys!!! Think George is going to have me pick out a really nice Disney watch while we're there for my birthday. I keep saying I need a new one and he just says to wait. Hmmmm. But it was a nice day. You can't turn your nose up at a dozen yellow roses!!

Back to crawling.......:drinking1 :fish:

Ireland is another place high on my list, everyone I know who has ever been says the people and land are fantastic and the Pubs are the place to be

Pionta Guinness, le do thoil. (Thats "a pint of Guinness please" in Gaelic)

(I have a feeling we're going to have to head over to France after this is all said and done just to get some food that not potatoe based or has the word bangers or boxty in it)

hmmm, methinks I spy Ed getting cozy with some lassies at the bar!

After all that pub crawling last night, I think I'll crawl back to bed for a while. Try not to plan any fun tours today until at least 11:00 am - I should be okay by then!

today we visit county cork home of the Blarney Stone ( I will be skipping the kissing because I know what the locals like to do to the stone after they have had a few at the pub)

And the Jamesons Whiskey factory is also in Cork

Blarney just 8km (5 miles) from Cork City is set in beautiful wooded countryside, it is an ideal base to visit the many wonderful sights of Cork and Kerry. Steeped in history and magical charm, Blarney village offers the visitor a host of wonderful things to do and places to discover.

One of the finest things that impresses the first time visitor is the well preserved village square. Blarney is one of the few villages in Ireland which has such a fine amenity, and today it continues to be a focal point of village life. In Tudor style, the village has developed around the square which is owned and carefully maintained by Blarney Castle Estate. The population of Blarney is small, approximately 2,000 and the people are friendly and welcoming towards the visitor.

Some great sights to visit include the legendary Blarney Stone at Blarney Castle. For many of the visitors to Blarney, their first priority is to kiss the famous Blarney Stone high up on the Castle battlements. Tradition holds that those who kiss the Blarney Stone will be endowed with the gift of eloquence - "the gift of the gab", as the locals call it.

"There is a stone that whoever kisses never misses to grow eloquent, he may clamber to a lady's chamber or become a member of parliament".

Over 200,000 people visit Blarney Castle each year. The castle is situated in over a thousand acres of magnificent woodland, making it the ideal place to take walks to enjoy the clean fresh environment of Blarney.

Blarney boasts some of the finest accommodation premises in Ireland. These include hotels, guesthouses, a caravan and camping park, town and country homes and farmhouses. Approved self-catering accommodation is also available. Blarney offers accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets.

Shopping is a pleasure in the village where there are a number of excellent outlets, including the world famous Blarney Woollen Mills. Established in 1824, the outlet has become one of the largest craft shops in Ireland and is renowned for its quality produce.

Blarney offers a superb variety of recreational pursuits to suit all ages. The golfer has several excellent eighteen hole courses to choose from; two within five miles of the village. There is a network of quiet country lanes for the walking enthusiast. Locally, you can fish for salmon, wild brown trout or coarse fish.

There are several sports and leisure centres for fitness buffs located in the area, which offer everything from swimming to gymnasium facilities. For families there's a delightful woodland farm which features a meandering nature trail offering a mixture of fun, education and relaxation.

Hey guys! Took me a while to find you. I missed yesterday's tour as I had to fly back to the States & take DH & kids to King's Island (amusement park in Cincinnati). I'm worn out.

Happy Belated Birthday goofy4tink!

I am looking forward to joining you today at the Blarney Stone. BTW, thanks for the tip Ed, I'd have kissed that thing for sure.

Me too, I also don't need any more gift of gab.

Oh, am I totally loggy today! Guinness after affect. I am also in complete DNC overload.

I NEED SLEEP!

Ed, hey, woa hey, hey woa - slow down on those samples, man.

Menus look great and after all that beer, I've worked up an appetite. But, no colcannon on this menu? I've always wanted to taste it in Ireland to see if it's anything close to what I've had here. I really love that dish.
