Traveling between monorail resorts after hours

I'm thinking about making a later dinner reservation in January at the Grand Floridian Cafe for after the MK closes at 8pm. I'd like to make a reservation for 8:30 or so but I'm concerned about being able to get back to our resort, Bay Lake Tower, after dinner. Assuming our dinner will take between an hour and an hour and a half and the resort monorail stops operating an hour after the parks close (which is 8pm for MK and 9pm for Epcot), will we have to take a taxi to get back to BLT? Does Disney provide busses between the monorail resorts or just between the parks and DTD. I'd really rather not have to take a bus to DTD just to catch a bus from there back to BLT.

There will be taxis available at GF. I do not think there are any buses that run between resorts, unless it happens to be two resorts on the same bus route,

A cab b/w the GF and Contemporary (which we've taken) will cost you no more than $9 or $10.

Thanks for your help! It sounds like a cab will be our best bet :thumbsup2

Often the resort monorail runs until 11 pm, regardless of MK closing time.

Check when you are there, maybe you'll luck out!

You might be able to take the boat from the GF to the MK, and then just walk to BLT.

If the parks all close before 1 a.m. then Downtown Disney acts as a hub for getting between resorts. In your case you would take the bus from the Grand Floridian to Marketplace and then transfer to the Contemporary Resort bus.

I would not begin to take a bus all the way to DTD to transfer between two resorts that are in eyesight of each other. GF to CR would be best as a cab ride, but one could almost walk.

Yep, it seems really silly to take a bus from the GF all the way to DTD just to wait for a bus to go back to the CR/BLT. If only the monorail still had the hours it did a few years ago :sad2: it made things so much easier. Mostly it made drinking around the monorail easier :thumbsup2

I'm pretty sure the boats between the GF and Poly and MK stop operating before the monorail does an hour after the park closes. I guess we can only hope that the park hours would be extended, otherwise we're taking a cab.
