I called member services to add the insurance for my upcoming trip and was told it would cost two years premium because I'm using borrowed points for this trip (2016 & 2017 UY points). But when I go thru the travelex website it's only charing me one year premium. Does anyone have any experience with getting the insurance while using borrowed points?

MS is correct. You would need to have insurance for both use years. Why are you going to Travelex site instead of buying the 2 years of insurance from MS?

I had originally clicked on the link thru my dvc account to just get it that way (I like to just do stuff online when I can and not bother with phone calls) and it was only charging me for one fee I didn't realize it was a UY thing. Then I decided called MS to actually get it and thats when I found out about the two UY thing. It was a little confusing at first.

Yes that is true. I had borrowed points for my June trip and needed two U/Y insurance coverages but the nice thing is those u/y points are for my Dec. trip too but I need to add a 3rd trip insurance here soon. Using 2015, 2016 and 2017 points but the nice thing is between the two trips, the insurance is covering 20 people. Seems too good to be true.

One thing I did not know though is I had transferred points for a June 2017 stay that cannot be covered because the original owner needed to add the insurance before the transfer so I have to find an external insurance company which will cost more.

We always purchase the Travelex insurance and I had wondered about transferred points, so that is really good to know. Since I always purchase it, I guess a member accepting a transfer from me would receive the insurance as well. Interesting.

I think so but then I am not sure if it is voided if you are not in the traveling party? All I know is I was glad I asked!
