We paid £1400 for 2 adults and a child to travel in July - everyone else was coming out at over £2000. We are lucky where we live in that the school summer holidays seem to start a week before everywhere else in the country - apart from Scotland, and we took full advantage of that - the prices go up a week later.

We flew with TCD last Sept. The flight out to FL was delayed by 23hrs (ouch!) but that was down to a technical fault with the plane, not TCD's fault and personally I'm more than happy to give the engineers all the time in the world to fix the problem than fly on a faulty plane!!!! Flight itself was good, no problems at all but I agree with others on this thread that the screens can be hard to see. We landed at Sanford 20mins early.

Flight back was delayed 2 hours, never found out why. Our group were upgraded to the Sunshine Deck which was fantastic. We have no idea why but we did notice that a few other people were myseteriously upgraded and we recognised some faces from the flight out there so maybe they were trying to compensate for our lost day? I just wish I could have appreciated the Sunshine Deck more, I threw up all the way home (I apologise profusely to anyone who happened to be on that flight with me!)

The only issue I have with TCD was the way they treated us during the big delay. No one was told what was happening, why we were delayed or when we could expect to be flying which got a lot of people very irate, especially those with little kids. However I think this may have been more to do with Air Atlanta than TCD and we were given meal vouchers to use at the airport, put up in a top airport hotel overnight and given breakfast the following day. And with the price, it was worth it!!!!

Hi

had planned to book with TCD as their quote came in a lot cheaper than anyone else's however,at another site I use, there were numerous complaints, as well as some compliments. The complaints centred around long flight delays and with two young kids, i decided I couldnt take the risk.

With regrads to the Holiday Inn , I shall be staying there in May and willl post a review ( does this site allow hotel reviews ?) on Holiday truths website. I chose this particularly for its location, as its close to Universal, the I trolly, and other restaurants and amenities. Would be interested to hear from others about Sharons comments and was also wondering if the rooms in the tower are better than in the resort.

Thanks

I stayed in this hotel in November 2003. I booked it because it was a 4* Virgin flagship hotel and had transportation to all the parks. I stayed in the tower rooms and personally I would not recommend them. I felt a wee bit unsafe as they were not linked to the main body of the hotel. The decor in the rooms is a wee bit tired and a bit Golden Girls. The tower itself is carvenous and basically just like a tower block of flats witha not very nice courtyard. I tried to change to a pool room but there was a convention on the week I was there and it was full.

Having said that the rooms are spotless and cleaned every single day. they are adequate for basic needs and come equipped with fridge, microwave, kettle and safe.

We ate breakfast once in the hotel restaurant and have to say it was not great. When you compare to Ponderosa across the road the quality for the rpice is just not great. they do have a wee cart thing outside which sells sausage 'biscuits' which are like rolls. they are great and sometimes when you cant face a large breakfast are just great. it also does good pizza slices.

I was kind of misled into thinking that with it being a flagship hotel it would be something special. The pool is not as big as it looks in the brochure however it is lovely and warm and is open late at night for a post park dip.

I made the mistake of booking my holdiday around my hotel and treating Orlando like I would a trip to Spain. i spent hardly any time in my room and when I was there it was fine. I am going back on 17th November but I am staying next door in the Rodeway Inn which has worked out almost £300 cheaper.

I think when you go you will be okay with the hotel if you dont expect too much.

It is in a fab location on I Drive though. there are I ride and Lynx stops outside. for my tip I went on the lynx buses whichh go up and own I drive as well. they are less crowded and more comfortable. We go one to the Florida mall from outside and it was almost as cheap as the IRide.

Good Luck when you go and if you want to know anything else then let me know.

We stayed at the ex Holiday Inn Express which is just down the road from the HI, it's now known as the I Drive Inn. We had money stolen from our safe (approx $700) which I believe was down to the staff at the hotel as the safes could be swiped open with a card (they were pin locked).

A policeman came out and took a report, he was very nice and told us that he couldn't recommend I Drive due to the lack of police in the area and he felt crime rates were rising. I am not trying to start a debate on here about the merits etc of I Drive, nor whether other people feel it is safe or not. I am just pointing out what he said to me and my own personal experience.

The police in Florida are VERY hot on crime against tourists as thjey are the live blood of the state

I cannot agree with this comment as although the police came out and took a report, we have heard absolutely nothing since then. This was in December. We told them that we had moved hotel (to the HRH) and didn't hear anything. We assumed we would hear something when we got back, but we haven't.
