My parents are elderly (93 and 90) and this has been a trying year health-wise for them, especially for my dad. We just moved them into a one bedroom apartment (which was trying for me), and after what I have been through with them, I so desperately need a vacation. I would like to book for October and have been thinking about insurance. I have never had travel insurance before so know nothing about it. I need a little direction if someone can help please. Need to know if any travel insurance would cover any part of the trip if my dad becomes ill and has to be hospitalized while I am gone which would require me to return home. He has several medical issues. TIA!

Ditto. I bought our last cruise policy from them and will be getting another soon. Rates were very reasonable and coverage was better than thru the cruise line.

Make sure you get something with pre-existing coverage, since he likely has many conditions already. I have used the website mentioned above with good luck. You can compare several to see their preexisting clause and other benefits.

The good news... our last trip insurance (Oct 2011) included the kids free!

The bad news...we had to use it. DH had a gallbladder attach the night before we were set to fly :sad2:

We also had to used trip Insurance on our first Disney Cruise in 2004 while we were waiting for Hurricane Francis to pass over WDW (interesting watching the doppler radar and knowing the red dots are you). They covered our room and meals at Disney All-Star Movie and around Downtown Disney while we waited to board our shortened cruise. The insurance co. was awesome. We had the insurance money deposited into our account before the end of the cruise! :cool1:

We go thru Travel Planners. If you don't like signing up online, they also have friendly folk on the phone.
