Travel times from Parks to Pop Century to Nap/Rest

When my friend and I made our WDW plans, I didn't disclose that I tire very easily. (It's the only part of my disability that I don't disclose often.) Unfortunately, our plans don't allow much free time, as we plan on doing one Park a day, taking a day off, and then going to Universal for two days.

I've decided that, when I get tired, I'll leave the Park and go back to Pop Century to take a nap. If my friend wants to stay in the Park, I'll be okay with that, as I won't need assistance to transfer to the bed to nap. If I miss some rides, it'll be better than being tired and cranky or short-tempered.

My concern, though, is the travel time from each Park back to the hotel. Does anyone know how long it'll take to return to the hotel? Depending on how tired I'll be, I may start nodding off on the bus.

timing back to resort will depend on how lucky you get with transportation ie how long you have to wait for next one with buses being the worst. if bus pulls out as you are walking up you could have a 20 to 30 minute wait for next bus plus how ever long it takes to get to your resort so it could take almost an hour just to get back to resort. not sure what would happen if you would nod off on the Skyliner with it not stopping as such to unload and I know nothing time wise with this

Also to note - you might want to get a mobility device, or consider heading back to the room way before you are feeling tired enough to rest - Pop Century bus stops were the very last ones at MK and EPCOT last time we were there. The Skyliner may help with HS and EPCOT now (as long as there are no thunderstorms) but the MK walk is dreadful.

I use a power wheelchair, but I still get tired easily.

I've seen videos of the Skyliner, so I have an idea how long those take, so I'll know not to nod off on those. Buses, though, could be where I nod off. I take buses here in my city and I do nod off on those when I'm very tired.

just remember if you just miss the bus you could have a 20 to 30 minute wait for the next bus with no place to sit and wait

How long do you need to nap for?

All 4 Parks have a First Aid Station, and (depending on how busy they are) you may be able to rest there, instead of going back to your room. They also have ice packs, generic Tylenol, and some of the nicest CMs on property 🙂

Prior to the pandemic, they had a general rule of thumb that you could rest for 30 minutes. If they aren't busy, they might let you go longer - I just don't want to set a incorrect expectation.

I try (as a rule) to stay *out* of First Aid, but the few times we have needed them, they have (literally) saved our trip!

With my personal experience with the buses I've seen it go from 20 to 75 minutes. It depends on the time of the day.

Keep in mind that you can take transportation back to Art of Animation as well - it’s a short trip from there to POP (if their bus arrives sooner).

AoA also has buses running to/from Epcot and Hollywood Studios (in addition to the Skyliner), where POP does not.

Yeah, when we stayed at All Star Sports, we went with whichever bus for All Star Resorts came first, especially since we had ECVs.

Hi! You said you were staying at the POP. You can ride the Skyliner to and from Epcot and Disney Hollywood studio. Going each direction you have to change from one Skyliner to the other at the Caribbean Beach Resort. From the time you exit the park I would say about 30 minutes back to the hotel loading area and than a few minutes to walk back to your room. We don't do the bus as we drive to Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom, but it seems to be about 30 minutes from the time you exit the park and once you get back, than you have to walk to your room. When you take the bus it will just depend on how long you will need to wait to get a bus which come every 20 to 30 minutes. Plus, the Sklyliner runs continuously and since you will be going back during the day, you probably won't have to wait in any line. We are not Universal Fans, so I can't say how long it will take to drive and park or to Uber there.

I found this old post that talks to a women with a 2 year old that needs naps, but it might give you some ideas of places to rest in the park so you won't need to go all the way back to the hotel. If you search for Resting Areas in WDW several articles come up and you might find something that will be useful in one of the articles. The Skyliner is fun to ride!

At least a hour each way. So several hours out of your day: 60- 75min to get to room at resort , then a 60-75min in room, then 60-75to get back to park . Resting in park as others have said or just call it a day once you go back to resort.
