We actually live in Tennessee but will driving to Atlanta (Alpharetta to be exact) to visit family the day before our trip to RPR. I have noticed some Atlantans posting trip reports and wonder if you could give me a more accurate account of how long it takes to get to Orlando. I have checked AAA and Mapquest and they have conflicting info. Thanks!

Well i'm in se ga and it takes us just about 4 hrs to drive to orlando to us/ioa and it takes us about 3.5 to altanta so i'm guess with gas stops and all not over 8.5 but more than 7 hrs to get there. Ask Robinrs she'll know.

We live in Illinois, but both trips driving back from Orlando it took us around 7 hours to get to the Southern part of Atlanta. Dh drives about 85 though.

I remember this because I told him that we needed to relocate there because we could just drive down to Disney for long weekends, lol. He pretended not to hear me ;)

I just made the trip last week! Depending on traffic and stops it can run between 5 1/2 and 7 1/2 hours. I've done both and in between. Just make sure you don't leave during Atlanta's rush hour because it can lengthen your trip considerably. We always leave at 5:30am and arrive in Orlando around lunchtime.

If you get a route via Mapquest, IGNORE IT! Lately they've been rerouting us thru I-10 to I-95. This is totally unnecessary and will add an hour to your travel... take it from one who knows... Take I-75 all the way to the Florida Turnpike, much shorter trip.

HTH.

Thanks Robin! I was guessing about 7 hours with stops. I didn't even pay attention when checking mapquest. They did have the route going to I-10 then I-95. It would never have occured to me to go that way. Going on the turnpike is the shortest, most direct route which of course we will take. It's been several years since we've been to Orlando. We probably won't leave Atlanta until 10:00am so we can avoid rush hour. Thanks!

From alpharetta I'd say 7-7.5 hrs. Canton(where we are) is about the same distance N of Atlanta as Alpharetta
