Here is a question:

Dinner reservations on Sept. 17th at 5:45pm at House of Blues at DTD.

We want to get to DHS for Fantasmic at 8pm and EMH at DHS
Bus to Swan & Dolphin, boat to DHS, approx 30 minutes

Will we make it or cutting it too close?
Should I try and back up Dinner reservation?

That is not a workable plan given when you need to arrive prior to Fantasmic. You want to be in line for F! At least an hour before show time, IMO. I'd guess you are talking about an hour of transport time on an average day. You should be leaving DTD around the time you may be getting seated for dinner.

I agree with vicki_c that this is probably not a realistic schedule, however if you want to save a little transportation time, I would consider taking a cab from DTD to DHS. This would be my rough timeline:

4:30 pm ADR (allow about 90 minutes for a TS meal)
6 pm Depart DTD (using Disney transportation)
7 pm Arrive DHS
8 pm Fantasmic!

Things might have changed, but the DTD bus to S/D used to share the route with BC, YC, and BW. So folks had to wait for two or more buses because of the line ahead of them. You might consider taking the first bus that arrives when you get to the DTD bus stop, then taking a bus from that resort to DHS. (Not really sure that would save time, but just a thought.)
