Im praying some of you parents are in the same boat we are in. our oldest DD 13 plays on a 14u travel softball team. they are a great group of girls and already made nationals(myrtle beach this yr). I was talking to another mom from the team and she was saying about softball trading pins:confused3.( I did say are they like the disney trading pins and she said yes.) now everywhere i look they are $2/3 a pin and i know the national are open to 100 different teams. we have the place in myrtle beach for a good price(another mom got a good deal) but i have no clue about these pins. does anyone have any advise? how detailed do most teams make their pins? im just lost on this thanks guys

We did trading pins when the boys went to Cooperstown...can't be much different. Although I wasn't personally involved in ordering them, there are websites that give free quotes or list prices on their website and seem to have quick turnaround. Have you looked into any of these sites?

My daughters team did trading pins. I can tell you that if there is nothing special about your pins it is really a lot harder to get girls to trade with you. The ones that move or have special features get traded much more often. And yes, they are Expensive.....but lots of fun.

Trading pins for softball was my introduction to pin trading. My daughter's team ordered 25 for each player which we had to buy. At that time, they were only about 1 each. You can save them for future tournaments as there should be pin trading at all tournaments, whether nationals or not. Back in the day, the coach's wife ordered all the pins so it was cheaper and they were all the same.

Our blinking red light eyeball pins did go faster than the regular ones.
It's fun for the girls so if you could swing at least 10, I'd do tt.

Not about the pins but since this is the budget board, thought I'd mention it. Take you camera and take the pics, the packets they sell cost $$$$$ I quit looking at the packages since I'd tend to buy.

We always bought a tournament shirt to most touranments we went to. When the girls turned 18 and it was their last tournament, the coach found this woman who did quilts. we collected 12 of our tournament shirts and she made a quilt for each girl with their tournament shirts. She cut the fronts or backs (since sometimes the back had a better picture but it always said the name of the tournament, city and date) and that was the square for the quilt. My daughter is now 29 and still sleeps with that quilt.

Good luck at Nationals and above all else, enjoy it!

What a wonderful idea that was! My daughter is nearly 29 and has 3 kids of her own, her 2 year old daughter (turns 2 tomorrow) just got her first softball bat and ball! She LOVED IT! I guess I won't have to miss those softball days for much longer!::yes::

thanks guys my DD was on a travel team last year and we never did this.
So I didnt know anything about it. The coaches wife and another mom is looking into different types(they said the ones that move are really cool and all the girls loved them) each parent are buying the ones for their DD's and depending on what the price is is the factor on how many shes getting.

as for the person saying you can do it at all tournaments I havent seen that so far ill keep my eyes open more next weekend

I just talked to my dd tonight about the pins. She totally agrees, spend a little more per pin and get less pins, but get ones that have something special (movement, flashing etc). She said they did run into teams that just wouldn't trade with them the first year because they had plain jane pins. Or sometimes a trader would want 3 of their pins for just one of the special pins. She said that was frustrating for their team. The next year they got pins with pieces that move and they had a lot more fun and it was well worth it! Talking about it made her and I want to dig out her pins and look at them again! Enjoy your fun times at the ballpark. There are weekends I really miss that!
